Happy Birthday @Ellafella 🍻 I have 5 years on you and grew up thinking we would be the Champions of England virtually every other year. I’ve seen the good times and bad since my first game in 1970 but still celebrate every win whether it’s 4-1 v Real Madrid or a 0-1 at Cambridge in League one. COYRS 🐏🐏🐏

Thanks @Reggie Greenwood for your kind words. Great to hear your philosophy on victory; I really like your forum name & of course remember Reggie Greenwood playing for us.

As I woke up tired, hungover and jet lagged this morning, I had a thought. While it's always great hearing stories about the glory days of the 70s, the iconic 80s and the fun 90s, there's a whole generation of Derby fans who have only ever known disappointment. I myself had my first season ticket in the 2006/07 Billy Davies season, but I was far too young to appreciate it.

Since then, it's been a mix of hope, heartbreak and 'nearly' moments. Our generation of supporters have witnessed other clubs' fans celebrating siuccess (sometimes at our expense), but we find it difficult to fathom what it would actually feel like for Derby to ever get over the line.

Yesterday, as I walked back back to the bus with my arm round my mate's shoulder, belting Derby songs at the top of our voices, I had the first taste of what it might feel like to experience success as a Derby fan. This morning, I started making preparations for post-game jaegerbombs and cigars next weekend. And thinking about how I'll be raising a glass to the lad that we all miss so much.

We're not over the line yet. But I'm well into dreaming territory. And for us fans who aren't old enough to know glory, it's going to be oh so sweet.

    Up the Rams.

Absolutely. I’m 59 (today) and was lucky enough to witness from 1969 onwards. As I’ve told my sons, wring every ounce of celebration because success is rare in football. It’s just that we had a glut of it in the 1970’s. So, celebrate hard when it comes @DarkFruitsRam7

Cheering on the Rams from pitchside.

I can't believe you let a birthday get in the way of our most exciting close to a season in years. B4 would be ashamed of you! 😂

    Happy birthday for tomorrow. 🎉

I know @angieram - I had that B4 conversation in my head as we were booking …”can’t you tell wife passport is forgotten on day you fly…” 🐼

  6. …are you for the last 2 games? I’ve been home & away for most of the season but had to reluctantly relinquish my tickets for Cambridge & Carlisle for the sunnier clime of Sri Lanka from where I’ll be watching tonight. Pre-match today I’m taking plenty of fluid on board and doing some light pool work just to keep myself loose. It’s my birthday tomorrow so hopefully the Rams will present me with 3 points just to make tomorrow sweeter.
Where are you watching from if you’re not at the game? 🐏

Well, to Cardiff fans, he's their "Sonny Bradley". Let's hope their manager isn't their "Paul Warne" eh? 😉

Their “one-eyed” view of the football world is fascinating. And great how they classify the pyramid and put Derby among “the likes of….”. Ebou is clearly Championship level. I remember lots of “football” fans casting question marks over John Eustace in similar vein.

    Straight from the horses/footballers mouths:

Wildsmith was asked about rumours of him leaving Derby. He has not yet been offered a new contract.
Ebou and his missus are absolutely loving everything about Derby. He said there are several things that need to fall into place about signing but seemed positive. He is the loveliest down to earth person. Didn’t stop smiling all night. If we need to forcefully restrain him to keep him here count me in! He doesn’t mind the Ebou chant sounding like booing.

Dwight Gayle is recovering well and hoping to be back next week.

Max Bird still very much focused on the next too games, despite moving on.

    Nathaniel Mendez-Laing smells very nice

League Table since October defeat at Stevenage - just for the current top 6

    image.png.d5e659ba8cd1c0936dd19586a41b30aa.png

Interesting; so what happened? Or is it just a coincidence? I recall we lost at Stevenage, fans were unhappy, Hourihane entered into a heated discussion with fans, Mr Clowes gave the Pom-pommed one the vote of confidence and the rest is history.
So what does the table mean?
My take on where Derby are headed…On balance, we should get auto from this point but I’m not taking it for granted. So if we do,  am I confident of our next season? I have to say I’m not. I’m not confident because I think our current blend of football is not capable of producing sufficient goals in open play at Championship level. It may be considered bad timing to have this discussion now, but that’s what I see ahead. So, if and when we get there, it’s going to be intriguing.

I’m looking forward to all the  tactical geniuses who called this a sackable formation and no chance of any goals, coming on here and admitting that they got it wrong.

To be fair, very few Derby fans could see goals in that line up and they were correct. Not to be churlish about a 3-0 win but we didn’t score from open play although we could’ve had 3 had chances gone in. But credit to the management team who saw the weakness in Orient’s back line.
