I am not sure what Warne and Clowes could have done.
Sentiment trumps sense every time. Football is a sport of emotions and as we all know, there is no greater honour imaginable than representing your boyhood club.
On the one hand, McGoldrick will be a very big loss and on the other, this really gives Warne a chance to shake the squad up and bring his own players in.
I just hope we have been preparing for this eventuality for a while and haven’t been caught by surprise.

Well that’s a killer blow. League Two teams are a bigger draw than Warne 😂
We are so ducked. We’ll be lucky to get Matt Smith to punt it up to
Disasterous start to summer. McGolrdrick and Roberts were two signings we should have been making, and will prove very difficult to replace.

okay know it all, he says he wants to RETURN to the club that brought him through the academy nothing to do with playing for notts because he supports them

i still stand by he is a forest fan, nothing about that statement changed my opinion on it. if anything it made me more sure.

its just all a bit tin pot isnt it?

make our best player feel wanted so he wants to stay. it is not a geographically thing, its not a footballing thing. we arent going to be "paying over the odds" because notts arent coming in with more money than us are they ?

for me there are worrying signs coming from this summer so far, we shouldnt be giving up on our best players when we are still under a business plan

Hourihane is the most most excited I've been about a signing since Bielik 3 years ago.
I'd be chuffed with that one if we were still a top 10 Championship club, for League One is ridiculous.

matty1986 got a reaction from curb in Wayne Rooney
So clearly there were cogs whirring in the background whilst he was still employed here.
Does that represent some kind of terrible betrayal on his part? Of course not, it's the reality of how football/life works. He had alternative employment options open to him, which should come as a surprise to precisely nobody, he's Wayne Rooney.
That's without even entering into a discussion about whether keeping Rooney as manager in League One was ever a remotely viable option.
Do I believe Rooney genuinely cared for this club and it's fanbase whilst here? Yes definitely.
Do I believe his PR team advised that sticking around until the end of last season was a no lose situation from a brand Rooney perspective? Also yes.
Derby go down, it's not his fault, everybody (rightfully) admires the character of the man for seeing it through regardless. His stock is high.
Derby stay up, the man is seen as the second coming of Jesus. His stock is high.
A move back to the MLS appears at face value to be a money/branding decision rather than a choice centred around managerial progression.
We now have a new owner, a new manager/squad and hopefully a bright new dawn to enjoy.
Good luck and best wishes to Wayne.

That isn't how advertising works or is meant to work..
Most advertising is for brand awareness, not necessarily to increase use and/or consumption. This is especially the case with mature markets.
It can sometime be to raise awareness fro new brands or market segments, but the vast majority isn't done for that purpose.
Almost everybody thinks they're immune to advertising and almost nobody is. That is its real power.
As Keyser Soze said in The Usual Suspects, the greatest trick the devil ever played was to make people think he doesn't exist. That is EXACTLY what advertising does on people like you mate.
Personally, I hope we avoid betting companies and alcohol companies too.
The reality is that alcohol destroys a LOT more lives than betting does, but we are mostly ok with that.
    I wonder why?
France banned alcohol advertising in sport 20+ years ago. But sport didn't suffer. And in conjunction with reducing the breath limit for driving from 80 down to 50 they halved the cases of death from cirrhosis and massively reduced drink related deaths.

Just out of interest, I'd this team 'old' or not?
    Wildsmith (26)
    Byrne (30)   Davies (37)   Cashin (21)   Forsyth (33)
    Bird (21)   LThompson (20)
    Barkhuizen (28)   Hourihane (31)   Mendez-Laing (30)
    McGoldrick (34)
Wycombe started 40 if their 46 games with older squads and still reached the Playoff Final. Sheff Weds also named a lot of old match day squads yet finished 4th.
Crewe, Wimbledon and Doncaster used the 3 youngest squads in the league... and all finished in the bottom 3. Fleetwood with another young squad finished just 19th.
I dont understand why you can't see we're building a balanced squad.

We’ve signed a 26, 28 and 30 year old. Hourihane is 31. Hardly knocking on retirements door ffs ?
The one person almost everyone wants to re-sign is 37 year old Curtis Davies who played every minute last season in the championship.

I really think with the size of the support and with the general vibe of 'just be grateful we are alive' our players whoever they are, will do well.
It ain't a great league, clubs like Rotherham and Wigan have come down in a bit of a mess after a struggle to stay up... and competed at the the top end.
Keep the core of what we have left and a few experienced professionals backed by a joyous crowd, I can't see us not being top half and people enjoying us win more games than we lose.

If nothing else I admire your predictability.
Does watching a game on TV for example not hold the same weight as watching it live, is your opinion not allowed the same magnitude if you're watching a game at home compared to someone at the stadium?
I can't see the point you're trying to make quite honestly.
I've watched enough games over the last 2 seasons to form my own balanced judgement thankyou very much.
Not going to respond back to any further comms on this matter as not getting dragged into another debate with you regards what a "real" supporter is.

It will be interesting to see how Wayne fairs if he gets the gig at an ambitious Championship club with high expectations and big budget.
There's no doubt he has been a fantastic leader of men and a strong figurehead for our club during horrific times, however his true managerial capabilities haven't really been tested yet.

Mowbray is a decent shout imo if we go down the experienced route. Recently won promotion from League 1, got stability back at Blackburn, turned Armstrong & Brereton into goalscorers, signed players like Dack, decent style of football & uses youth players too
