I'm sure Hearn does tell him to make sure he makes time for people and get seen doing community things. As Fury plays up to the villain when he's a decent bloke too.
But the drug dealing is not a major issue. I have never touched drugs, don't smoke, barely drink and I know 1 cannabis dealer and 1 former cannabis dealer. It's not great on your record but he's hardly 50 Cent.
The nastier side of him isn't always well hidden. Even his clash with Breazeale in their meeting showed a darker side. He went off on one for no reason. He goads while in the ring. He does some interviews where he can be boastful. But like you say, this is fighting! It's not a sport for angels.
Same with Fury. Always the villain. Yet people like Clifton Mitchell will say that he's always got time for people. His wife says if you put a camera in front of him then he "performs".
    They all have their 'angles'.
Carl Froch was suddenly a huge Forest fan. Tony Bellew used his team. They all try to sell you something. Wouldn't say they're fake. Just they have to work at something that appeals. Fury is arguably the most fake fighter out there as for a big nasty gypo villain who doesn't care he spends time after Hughie Fury fights chatting away to fans about his division  and the career paths/technique of fighters never shown on British TV.
Joshua will get some hate anyway soon enough. His hype is attracting casual fans which upsets the hardcore who are now sharing arenas with 15,000 where there used to be 8,000.
Fury is going to open some wounds like Whyte did. But Fury does it louder. He'll break down some of the angel image.
And then there's the old British thing of build em up and knock em down. Where we like a hero up until he's "made it" and then we tear him down and look for a new one. Being an Olympic champion might protect him a bit though.
It's just nice to see that there's good fights. Good British fights. And the heavyweight division isn't so frickin boring as it has been since Lewis!!
Thank God the Klitshcko reign is ending.
I think even Derby's Dave Ryan is mandatory for the Commonwealth title? Might be wrong but I think he is?

What's wrong with the Joshua hype?
Seems a nice lad, Olympic champion, British, knockout artist, doesn't talk *****.
He's playing a part in making boxing and British boxing and heavyweight division exciting.
The only reason he gets more hype is because he's genuinley exciting, backed by Sky Sports and he's an Olympic hero. He's not a bully, he's not had to call people out, he's not had to be controversial.

Mostyn, I wish I'd not been on a self imposed exile seeing this thread, not only you but some of the other replies have shocked me and also made me think about the way I post to one or two members. I'll stop to think a bit more in future.
I've not read the rest of the thread yet and there's a couple of months gap, so hopefully by now you're ok.
BUT, if you're not mate, give me a shout and we can go out for a pint.
As someone who has lost everything (and almost everyone) over the last couple of years and taken knock after knock after knock I'd be happy to have a chat to see if we can't knock some positive sense into each other.
I can't explain why every night before I finally get to sleep, I know things are going to turn around, but I know they are. Then I wake up the next day and start thinking I'll never get out of this hole and can't and don't want to face anyone.
No matter what our views are on football, I've seen enough from you to know that underneath the forum persona is a very decent bloke with a decent heart.
You're a good lad mate, good lads eventually work through things. They need support around them to climb back up, that's all.
You've got my email address pal, I'm in Derby often enough so that it wouldn't be out of my way.
What is frightening, the amount of people I'd assume were incredibly happy and fantastically well balanced who've struggled or are struggling still.
I'd include myself in that as well.
Blimey but what an eye opening thread.

British boxing is going through a golden generation. I think the belt situation is a bit of a joke though.
I mean, as there are four belts per weight class, it's becoming increasingly easier to win world titles. You could lose in one route such as WBC, then just go on the IBF trail. Lose that then go to WBC.
It's allowed our promoters to pretty much cherry pick fights and allow the likes of DeGale, Joshua, Burns, Billy Joe Saunders, Liam Smith and Lee Selby to win world titles without ever having to fight the best in their division.
I give props to Fury, Crolla and Brook (beating Porter) for actually winning titles against elite opponents.
People like Billy Joe Saunders talks like he's the top dog when he's not even in the top five in his division. I don't mind the guy, but he really needs to save the talk for when he's beaten a Canelo/GGG/TCotto/Jacobs/Lara.
If BJS and Eubank JR fight again, I'd back Eubank now. Seems to have come on loads.

    Buzzing for Tony Bellew!!
Don't know where he would have gone from losing. Would have killed him.
Not sure if he was brave or stupid. British boxing is amazing right now!!
    We're belt hogging!

I can see where Blackwell is coming from though, in the days after when interviewed Eubank Sr said he was telling JR to go to the body for his safety trying to look a hero, when his actual words were your not taking him out to the head (can't knock him out) attack his body. I will give it to Sr though he did say in the corner a round before the ref should be stopping this.
JR has been reaching out a lot through social media too making it look a bit "showy" when I'm sure his promoter could of got them in contact behind the scenes. The in humane comment was a bit strong from Blackwell though.

Think Canelo knows that there's more money to be made by going this way about it?
It actually looks as if McGregor v Mayweather is going to happen.
It'll be millions and millions straight into Mayweather's pockets for an easy fight. I know McGregor can punch and comes from a boxing background doesn't he? But he's not going to outbox Floyd Mayweather!!!
Make it an MMA fight and it might be interesting (although one punch and it's over?) but in a boxing match...

I know you like him dcfcfan, but he's a marmite bloke Billy Joe Saunders and I can't wait to see him blasted to the canvas. Hopefully Canelo/Khan style.
Don't like Eubank Jnr either tbh.

I'll defend David Haye here. What else could he have done? D Whyte is still injured. His opponent was the only undefeated heavyweight in the world that had more than 25 wins on his record bar Deontay Wilder.
I'm sure Haye would fight Fury, AJ and Wilder now but none would fight him. He needs to build back his reputation after such a long tiem out, and he needs testers to see if he can through a camp without getting injured.
The hasn't frauded anyone because his fights are free to watch. He knows the game, he knows he can't demand PPV just yet and needs to build back up. It's all business really.
And regardless of whether Shannon Briggs is a bum or not, people want to see it. I want to see it, it will be intriguing but I know David Haye will pick up an easy win (round four I'm predicting when Briggs is gassed).
Mayweather and McGregor looks like it will happen and will make millions. It's an absolute mis-match, Mayweather will hammer him. But people want to see it all the same.

See, he says it can't be topped but the division is split. He could unify the titles.
There's some huge fighters left to prove himself against. Povetkin, Ortiz, Wilder, Browne, Joshua... maybe Stiverne? Glazkov? Haye? Wach? Briggs even?
Klitshcko was a huge win. But his next biggest win is waaaaay lower level.
How can you say you've achieved everything when there's 36-0 (?) champions like Wilder? Guys that have only lost to Wlad or Vitali and then other undefeated champions at that level. Two who are 25-0 ish. Even Price could come up again.
I like Hughie Fury. Gaining lots of experience isn't he? Not packing much of a punch but he's learning more than Joshua has from some fights. Whyte v Hughie would be a great watch if it happened.
Up until last week he'd been punch perfect. Hope he does whatever he needs to do to get back to before that last fight.

There was always going to come a point where Khan stopped getting in and out quick enough.  He executed perfectly the first 3 rounds. But in the 4th Canelo began to hold more. Less knockout blows and more measured brawl.
Whether it be tiredness or over confidence there was always going to come a time when he stuck around too long.
Khan needs either a steel chin or real power to go with his speed. Think winning the first 4 rounds looked good but 12 rounds of getting in and out... It would have to be the greatest performance ever.

You thought so? I had Khan winning the first four rounds, and he was boxing brilliantly considering he had no power to hurt Canelo so was forever on the move. His footwork was brilliant at the start.
The you noticed in round five Canelo was finding his range, and Khan was slowing down.
I thought at that moment Canelo would pin him on the ropes and hurt him in the seventh or eighth, causing a stoppage. Didn't see that one punch coming, it was devastating.
Khan, and boxing, needs to look at this and take a think about safety. The difference in power between the two was just ridiculous and luckily it seems Khan is OK, could have been far worse.
They shouldn't allow fighters to jump up two weights like that. It's OK jumping from Batamweight to Feather or even Light, but from Welter to a 170lb middleweight is insane.
