Afternoon all. Just a quick one to say I've thrown together 3,000 words with Johnny Russell on his time at Pride Park, in case it's of interest https://thederbybook.wordpress.com/2020/06/05/johnny-russell/
He was great to speak with and had some nice little insights into the managers he worked for, why he chose the MLS and some of the struggles he had in his five years here.

And that's without mentioning two of our best players that season, Bryson and Keogh. The latter made 2 mistakes (one at Wembley, one at the Joiners) that will unfortunately tarnish his, otherwise excellent career at the club.

When we went down to Brighton we were on the Roadrider. Tremendous traffic jams around Heathrow and we got off the bus, ran up the steps just as the players were in the huddle. Phew!
Didn't play well, won - it was brilliant!
The return leg at Pride Park was so much better, it was tremendous and that should have been Wembley too.
That day was gutting, as even up until that Zamora moment, it was just a matter of time before we won it.
Like others, I think if we had won that day we wouldn't have looked back and would still be up there in the Prem with Hughes our England international midfield general and who knows who from the Academy pushing through.
We learned the hard way that good honest football didn't necessarily get you where you want to be. Yet the subsequent years of overspending, changing styles and trying to wiggle our way around Profit and Sustainability restrictions got us nowhere.
Ironically, I think that this season the penny has dropped and we were starting to rebuild a talented footballing side based on youth again under Cocu. I sincerely hope that this enforced break doesn't scupper that momentum, because it's the first time I've felt truly optimistic about Derby County's future since that season.

I would pay to watch Will Hughes have a kick around in my back garden, he's a wizard.
Jake Buxton's defensive strength, ball distribution and all round ability is insane when you consider how much he cost....for two or three seasons there wasn't a better CB in the league.
Jeff Hendrick, Johnny Russell and Jamie Ward attacking at any opportunity, Chris Martin being the fulcrum up top, George Thorne bossing the midfield.... Forsyth and Wisdom.....wow.....have you ever seen such strong and powerful full backs...
That team deserved to be let loose in the Premier League, absolute travesty it didn't happen 😢

As part of our discussions, @David and I talked about having a different charity each season. My thought was the Food Bank was an immediate win but Mental Health could be a great area to raise money for a whole season where we could run it as a project beyond fundraising.

Me neither, I honestly thought £1000 would be pushing it given the situation, but for us to smash it in 3 days and go beyond that is unbelievable really.
So many families right now will be enjoying a basic meal because of the kind donations from this forum tonight.
Couldn’t be prouder of this community we have all built and part of right now 🥰🐏
I will no doubt earn the likes from all this and praise, @sage is the mastermind behind all this.
When contacting me saying we should use the power of the forum to pull together, my initial thought was mental health as I know it has effected so many on this forum including myself, but it was sage that suggested the food bank and it was a great suggestion as so many families will be effected by this situation and struggling to put meals on the table tonight but with our fundraising will all be eating tonight.
Hands down this is my proudest moment of the 11 years we have been online. You are all awesome, even those that are unable to donate, just being part of this community means so much so thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🥰🐏

This is a challenging time for us all, and across the country food banks are working hard to maintain the provision of emergency food to those in crisis.

With donations to Derby City Mission food bank being reduced, and an increase in demand, we know that you, our members will share our belief that those who have the least resources to cope with the Covid-19 crisis must not be forgotten at this time.

Many families across the county may be forced to rely on food banks for the first time this year, with businesses either closing down or laying off staff.

If you can, even if it's just the cost of a pie and a pint or even a match ticket, please donate and help us put a meal on a families table tonight.

Crazy got a reaction from SKRam in v Millwall (A) - Matchday Thread
It might be the close proximity of the game to his announcement - they aren't able to test the Arsenal players in time to give the all clear, as test results take around 24 hours. But they should be able to test the Millwall players now, and unless several of them test positive, I'd expect the game to go ahead. Brighton v Arsenal on Saturday is still on.

I don't think we need them to duck up. If the teams above us continue at the current points-per-game, we need 18 or 19 to make 6th spot. Win our home games, and a couple away from home. Not easy, but it's not impossible, even if the 6 teams above us continuing as they are.

If a goal is awarded but then ruled out by VAR for offside, it's worth half a goal. That way, if it's a draw, supporters of the team that 'scored' can still claim they won.

I grew up in Derby, but came from a family of Man Utd fans (parents from that area). Fortunately as I was getting into football, my friends had more influence over me, and they supported Derby, Liverpool and Forest, and, even more fortunately, I chose Derby.
The first season I remember following was 93/94, losing in the play-off final. Went to a few games at the BBG with my dad over the next few years, but mainly remember watching central match live on Sunday.
