BramcoteRam84 got a reaction from Jourdan in Barnsley (H) (FACR3) Sun 8th Jan, 12:30 KO
Cracking win. Who needs the warmth of Oz when you can be at Pride Park watching that. They started well we weren’t great first half but gradually improved and dominated the game in the end. If we do end up in the playoffs really hope we get Barnsley, just need to go ahead against them and they have no fight or bottle. We on the other hand have bottle in spades along with real quality at this level. How can we get Jake Rooney into this team?! The boy is class!!!
I was hoping we at least made the 3rd round to avoid the embarrassment of a club like ours not making the round we usually start in, but 4th round is great. Really want Forest at home now…………………………………

BramcoteRam84 got a reaction from Caerphilly Ram in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
It’s the lack of control in midfield that is hurting us sometimes in away games particularly. I think we dominate the midfield more at home but away we do give the ball away a lot. At times through carelessness which is down to the players but also it’s a clear tactic to play forward, which is good and should be Applauded but often when the ball is cleared we’re not winning the second balls to then sustain pressure so it comes straight back. With time and some tweaks it should come right but what’s really impressing me is how solid we’re looking defensively and despite not controlling games while we’re not scoring away we’re looking threatening. The draws we’re getting are winning draws where we’ve edged the games or at least matched the opposition, this hopefully means with some tweaks the draws are more likely to turn into wins and then we will be in a really good place.

BramcoteRam84 got a reaction from Caerphilly Ram in Cambridge United (H) Fri 30th Dec
This would be my team but I expect Hourihane will continue in place of Roberts and Sibley will be left back and Barkhuizen will play
Wildsmith
Smith Cashin Forsyth Roberts
NML Bird Knight Sibley
McGoldrick
Collins
To accommodate Hourihane I’d drop Barkhuizen move Sibley back to left back instead of Roberts and play Knight wide left.
Most people seem in agreement Hourihane is the issue (I also think he is btw) as he doesn’t cover enough ground and often goes missing in games, but it’s hard to ignore he has 3 goals 4 assists and has created more chances this season than any other Derby player ?

It is a work in progress with Warne. We were never going to be the finished article and playing champagne football after 20 games.
When you consider the level of injuries and suspensions we have had and how stretched the squad has been and continues to be, Warne is getting a lot right.
Of course, it isn’t perfect. We are drawing a large proportion of our games and the style of play can be frustrating to watch when it doesn’t work.
But there are some good signs and there is plenty to build on as we move into 2023. If we can make a few tweaks in January, we’re in a really good place to kick on.

BramcoteRam84 got a reaction from RoyMac5 in How's your optimism?
Feeling really optimistic. I’d be astounded if we don’t make at least the playoffs, then we’d have as good a chance as anyone, however I think we could even sneak top 2, think Plymouth will come back towards us and we’ll be battling the wendies for the second spot behind Ipswich.
I also think Ipswich Wednesday Plymouth and Derby would all comfortably survive in the championship so wouldn’t expect a relegation battle when we’re back there.

All good updates, beyond what i expected but unless you’ve gone the work already will save you the last 2 and just ask for a league table comparison after 21 games.
Seriously though much appreciated ?????

It was FA Cup 2nd Round next - at home to our old non-league friends Telford Utd
We won comfortably 6-1 including a Jeff Chandler hatrick

League game 19 was a top of the table home clash with runaway leaders Reading which ended in a 1 - 1 draw.
Reading had the prolific goal scorer Trevor Senior in their ranks but it was Michael Gilkes who scored in this game
The crowd was the largest of the season so far - 16,140
In 1984/85 we got our 3rd straight league win at home to Orient 1 - 0

League game 18 was an away win at Bolton Wanderers 1 - 0
My memory from this this game was getting bottles thrown at us as we were escorted from the station to the ground
& half the crowd was made up of Derby fans
In 1984/85 we won 2 - 0 at Cambridge Utd - a big game for me as it was my first away game without being 'escorted' by my Dad, thank God for the football special trains

BramcoteRam84 reacted to Ram@Lincoln in David McGoldrick - joined Notts County
Listening to BBC Humberside recently, they've been making a case for Rosenior to come in and pinch our better players. Their presenters and fans are very keen to "gamble" on the likes of Knight, Cashin and Bird - one caller said to throw £1m our way as League One players are only worth £100k so we should be very grateful for the extra in our time of need. Many want McGoldrick as they reckon we outdid ourselves in the summer and can't afford any of the wages so need to give everyone away before going bust. Hence why we gave Rosenior away as we couldn't afford him permanently. That's the rhetoric they're believing anyway! ?

BramcoteRam84 got a reaction from DesertRam in Forest Green Rovers (H) Sat 17th Dec
Well I shouldn’t have been at the game yesterday, instead should be sunning myself on the Queensland Sunshine Coast, flight cancelled couldn’t get another one until a week later so losing a whole week of holiday - never fly Lufthansa!! f****** charlatans!!
However a bonus of not going was it meant I could freeze my arse off watching the mighty rams v Forest green. In the last half hour the rams did their best to warm us up with relentless sustained waves of attacks and chances, how we didn’t score more I don’t know. Rest of the game was patchy but NMLs goal was good, and I agree with others who say McGoldrick’s goal is the best since Morrison last season, it was a thing of beauty and to all those that think Warne is anti-football that second goal really pleased him. In fact speaking of Warneball, hardly recall us going long all game, when we did play well it was fast paced intricate attacking play.
However for long periods we went through the motions and played slow. We got the job done but I was pleased to hear Warne say he wasn’t happy and he’s demanding more from the players.
Knight is vital but due to contract situation I’m worried he will be on his way. Bird is playing well, Sibley was excellent yesterday along with McGoldrick. If we can get a right back in, move Smith into midfield I think that will transform us, I’d have Smith sitting with Bird and Knight. Conor for me should drop out.
At Christmas we’re in the playoffs, we’re looking harder to beat, we’re improving with the potential to improve the squad in January. Based on what I’ve seen this season, I’d be stunned if we don’t make the playoffs. I also wouldn’t rule out top 2 if we can keep some of our key players fit.
I hope I don’t watch another Rams game live until Barnsley in the FA Cup and that I will be watching on rams tv down under ??? but looking forward to the rest of the Christmas and very optimistic about the business end of the season.
COYR!!!! ?????
