Alf this has hit home for me and should warrant a thread IMHO. Possibly even raised in the fan feedbacks.
Mrs Silverback and I travelled to many games away, with notably "rough "supporters Burnley/Stoke etc and we often felt more afeard of our own "fans". I use the term loosely coz they are nothing to do with football as such. Just  a bunch of brainless morons looking for trouble.
I could be way off the mark here but  don't want to be lumped in with these cretins, and I would ask the club managements to provide a set seated area, where we as true supporters of the club/football could at least feel easy watching the game.
This being the age of inclusion and bums on seats, we would love to travel away again but after a particular experience of our own fans at St Marys, we decided that neither of us felt safe enough to want to repeat the experience.
We are both in excess of 65 and do not like being bumped and bashed by fans of our own as we are a little unsteady, and would happily pay a little  extra for the privilege.
I accept that most away supporters would find this abhorrent to their experience, but I would not in any way want to affect their day but they are seemingly happy to spoil our enjoyment.
Retirement has given me the time and finances to go to all matches, but I feel excluded because of age/safety.
I am sure there will be a chord struck amongst many travelling fans with this rant, and I hope that someone can at least give this a dose of looking at.
    Rant over 🤞

It doesn’t take a genius, critic, analytic or a******* to lay out what happened: we lost to a better team with a moment of real quality.
On the flip side: that’s the lowest xG Sheffield United have had at home since playing Arsenal in March. It shows that we were able to really restrict them to good opportunities and that’s something that we need and can count on to keep us in games.
If we score that chance in the first 10 minutes, who knows what kind of game we would’ve seen. I do like how we can consistently restrict teams to poor quality chances, though. It’s a great trait to have.

Watched some and listened to some of first half which it seems was our best time in the game, then watched the second half. As others have said defensive shape was excellent but on the ball we were terrible, trying to play out but slow and we were constantly pressed into mistakes. Nelson trying to break the lines running with the ball and losing it, Cash the same, Cashin’s passing today was awful. But throughout the team we weren’t good on the ball over hitting passes - even Goudmijn over hit two or three where if he’d got them right we were potentially in on goal.
No one expected anything today, at times we matched them which is good but if we could’ve kept the ball better and been a bit smarter we could’ve caused them problems and even won the game as they weren’t that great. As it was second half we didn’t lay a glove on them.
Got to be happy after 6 games.

Think Warne is questioning it as well so you’re not the only one. Issue was he only had 3 in the wall then too much of a gap. That said though while he made some big kicking errors also thought he was really good again.

Having just caught up, and seen the goal, I reckon JWZ either positioned the wall wrong, or himself.  🤷‍♂️
Given the angles/trajectories/his starting position, by the time he spots the ball, he also catches sight of the post, and human nature kicks in to hold back on the spring needed in his legs to reach the ball.
Any save of that... which I believe he would technically be capable of, as excellent as the free-kick was.. would almost certainly have had us heralding him a hero, whilst simultaneously bemoaning the fact that he misses the next 3(?) games due to concussion.
Just my opinion, and of course, we will never know the outcome "Had he have saved it", but there does appear to be a lack of power in his dive.  It's almost "Half-hearted"... but as it's almost certainly "Human nature" doing its thing, rather than a conscious decision to "s***-out", any blame on him would be as per my opening line, not the lack of effort in the attempted save.
Shame really, as I reckon we'd have all gladly taken a 0-0 here.

First half performance was pretty good.
Second half was poor. Desperate defending and abysmal passing. Nelson’s lack of footballing ability was exposed but Cashin and Phillips were no better. Only Adams put up a show in midfield through sheer effort.
We have dangerous attacking players but they need the ball to their feet and we couldn’t do that. Bad day at the office but not the end of the world!

Nat Phillips has played holding midfield for Liverpool before apparently, so a straight swap for Ozoh with everything else remaining the same would make sense.

I think if we switch to a back five with Nyambe and Elder as wing backs we can kiss goodbye to possession.
We need support for Kenzo in the middle to allow him to feed the front three.
Osborn didn’t play that well yesterday but with an extra week’s training should be more effective there.

Missed the Bristol game but back for this one. Really liked what I saw, much improved from Boro albeit against poorer opposition. That said I thought Cardiff were ok, decent side on paper and despite their start I thought this would be tough and so it proved.

It was always going to take time to adjust to the championship but we seem to be improving. The new signings are also starting to look better. Lots of positive performances today, Elder looking really good, Nyambe class, Kenzo is unbelievable, one of the best talents we have owned since Will. What a signing. Yates also looks a good technical footballer - which I find confusing because I was led to believe Warne doesn’t sign technical footballers only athletes.
Ozoh has been the most impressive of the new signings and I think our downturn in performance can be traced back to him going off. Losing him is a massive blow.
3 home games, 3 wins without conceding and 2 away defeats against two teams above us and flying - and we had our moments in both of those games as well. There is genuine cause for optimism. It’s early days making sure we stay up is the first task but I’m starting to believe that maybe we could be midtable. Long way to go though but a very very solid start to the season.

I was thinking exactly the same miss. If my memory serves me correctly he was just off the goal line, he swung his foot and somehow the ball went between his legs. If he hadn't even swung his foot and let it bounce off his shin it would have been a goal.

Yeah think we have to go to a back 3 now if Ozoh is out, Cardiffs best spell in the game came literally the second he went off. He will be a huge miss, we don’t have anyone who can play that role as effectively, Ebou doesn’t have the discipline.

Two difficult games now will give some of the anti-Warne’s some ammunition again methinks but solid start to the season and good technical signings, Goudmijn Yates Harness all good footballers. Lovely to watch at times.

We look much better at doing what Warne wants because we have the players to implement it now it's as simple as that. A tough, physical defence. Pace, power and aggression in midfield. Pace and power up front. Plus some quality all over the park. Plus hard work. Plus evident character throughout the team. Plus spirit and togetherness. We will surprise a lot of people this season. Warne deserves some credit

Absolutely buzzing with the win, even hours later. Here’s hoping there will be more celebratory fist pumping and derrière slapping during the weekly shop in Tesco as the winter sets in!
Three wins from five, back to back to back home wins, a spot in the top half, a positive goal difference, some signs of good football developing, breathing space to the bottom three, and a good platform for us to build on in the autumn and the winter. What’s not to like?
I have to admit I was a bit fearful for us after such a poor pre-season and then Blackburn away, but we have responded ever so well since and you can see Warne and the staff behind the scenes are really starting to show how shrewd they are.
They deserve massive plaudits! We look like a real team with everyone playing their part and fighting for the cause. If you look at the performances of Yates, Jackson, Kenzo, JWZ, Nyambe and Elder in particular, the recruitment team and the coaching staff must be feeling ten feet tall.
It’s still a long season ahead of course and we still have tests to pass and lessons to learn. Warne and the players will need us when we hit a slump, for instance.
But if the first five games are anything to go by, everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction and will leave everything out there to make us proud. Let’s stick with them.

Warne deserves loads of credit but not over the top, it’s one game against a mid table team. Conversely he doesn’t deserve the over the top criticism and in some instances vitriol when we lose!!

Can we just be a bit more balanced in our critique, and maybe just maybe get behind this gaffer (who is an amazing human being) and the team who put their bodies on the line and throw everything into the cause?!

No. Unfortunately there are teams who are just better than us and we have to play a certain way. Boro prime example, the other two games have been away from home which can often lead to parking the bus, and add to the fact away against two of the form teams early doors yet we still competed with both and had our moments. When we play lesser opposition I expect us to be on the front foot more. I didn’t go today but based on the reaction that’s exactly what happened!!
If anyone wants to know how Warne really wants to play, look at Barnsley at home last season and by the sounds of it today also!!
