Agree, there is a place for him but can’t see him getting enough minutes for himself to be satisfied. Can see something similar to the role he played under Rowett where despite the lack of goals I thought he did ok. And Cocu will use him better.
Let’s also not forget his health wasn’t right for a long period in the past couple of years.
You saw the crowd reaction when he came on. I think the majority would love him to become a regular again and end his Derby career on his terms but only if he’s good enough. For me he doesn’t need to prove anything, one of the best strikers we’ve had in the 25+ years I’ve watched Derby and definitely the best in the championship era.

It wasn’t bad tonight. Could be better. Definitely deserved to win on chances created.
A right footed full back will make a huge difference. Bielik for the first time tonight looked like a midfielder. He was class. We need to be bold and not pick Huddlestone, we can’t get enough players to support the forwards. Either needs Shinnie now Evans is out or even go Knight or Dowell alongside Holmes.
Lawrence was ok tonight and a lot better than some have made out.
It was a stop start game because Cardiff made it that and the ref helped them. Easily the worst ref at PP in a good while.
We’re still a work in progress but the component parts are there to have a decent season and position ourselves well for the the future with a manager who I think is top class.  If we’re still in this position next month or even by Christmas and we get rid of him...we’d be fools. He knows what he’s doing, he needs time.

    Cheers everyone for the updates.
    1. Warnock praises the ref post-match; a clear indication that the official was worked on by Colin pre-Ko.
    2. Malone from zero to hero. Madame football once again shows she’s a fickle mistress.
    3. A huge roar for Chris Martin. That would’ve been goose-bumpery for me too.
    4. Signs that Derby are showing some green shoots. I suspect that Waghorn will notch 15-20 goals this season. We just need to find some rhythm and perhaps a decent addition in midfield. Surely Cocu can conjure up a maestro from somewhere.
    5. So all in all a good night. I ate a pizza the size of a car wheel for 3 Euros whilst keeping tabs on the Rams.

My thoughts on tonight's game, I thought we played some good stuff, Bielik could be one hell of a player, Keogh was very good again, for me Roos is poor, Huddlestone needs taking out the team, once a great player, but his best days are behind him, thought Dwayne Holmes was excellent, trying to make things happen all the time, we had our chances to win, and you can see what Cocu is trying to bring to the team, a positive things will get better, after Leeds we have games like Brum, Barnsley and Luton which we will win, think  we are 3 players off getting promotion, so next year could be that season, but if we are in a good position when Wayne arrives then who knows because Wayne will improve us so so much, he will retain the ball, score goals, create and drive the team on. Let's all stay positive good times ahead.

If he had scored that free kick with the last kick of the game, I think I would've burst.
Cocu is definitely a guy who prefers intelligent play to running statistics, so Martin has a chance in this team. It's not surprise he's going to show some rusty moments, but his ability to create opportunities in and around the box makes him potentially invaluable to a team, like us, who are currently lacking creativity.

Expected a meltdown on here and we’re getting one!! Today it is probably justified. I didn’t think we’d have a smooth start to the season. We had a deserved victory against Huddersfield, played well enough to beat Swansea and West Brom and debatably well enough to get a point at Stoke. Forest aside, the two bad performances were Bristol (which wasn’t that bad) and today which was horrendous.
I can see a plan, I can see what he’s trying to do but we’re being badly affected by injuries in the full back areas, and the balance of the midfield remains wrong. The midfield you could level at Cocu but Holmes has been injured and is having to play full back because of the injury situation, Dowell isn’t doing it right now and Huddlestone in some of the games has been found wanting, yet for some reason he doesn’t like Shinnie.
It needs more work on the training ground, and it needs Bogle Wisdom Fozzy Malone fit again so we don’t have to play people out of position, Bielik to get match fit for midfield (Bristol proved he wasn’t), and then he can play the likes of Holmes in midfield to get up and support the forwards.
We probably needed this today to highlight our shortcomings. This was always a tough game, Whatever their results before today , Brentford at home are as good as anybody, that front three with Benrahma and Watkins is frightening - if you’re not on it they will find you out, and they did.

Responsibility and accountability for the current situation??!!! We’ve played 6 games and we’re still in August! Last time I checked the league ended in May.
Get a grip people. Yes criticise today’s performance but don’t infer this a major crisis we need resolving now and demand someone to blame for our impending doom (which probably won’t come to pass!). In the normal world (outside football), objectives are usually reviewed every 12 months.

It doesn't matter which 11 you pick. I can't find a good side. I can't see that bringing Shinnie is going to make Lawrence play well or Waghorn hold the ball up. Buchanan is out of his depth (needs to go out on loan). Whilst Holmes is a decent player he hasn't exactly been prolific so far.
I really hope I'm wrong but this is going to be a relegation struggle this year. We have far too many players that are simply not good enough who are in the first team - Lawrence, Roos, Waghorn, Huddlestone, Dowell, Buchanan (who may come good but not in this team), Malone
The squad needs a thorough overhaul and that's going to take some time. I'm not sure Cocu is up to it. WHen you get players having a go at the supporters you are on the wrong road, it is very difficult to turn things round and it is obvious there is unrest with the players. I can't see a playing style or direction he's going in. THese last 2 games have been a disaster - very worrying times for DCFC.
