In the end Mel's demise was triggered by Frank Lampard throwing the play-off final so he could go to Chelsea. And then kept us dangling on a string all summer until the transfer window was already swinging shut. If we had won that match, which we could and should have done, we would have walked away from all the financial limitations, just as Villa did to some degree. Whether Mel would have stopped his dodgy activities or not we will never know, but we should have had the chance.

Much as there are times that the players need to hear the boos ringing in their ears, I will not be giving any booing to the players on Saturday, regardless of the result. Unless they play like they are already at the close-season beach party. Besides, the stewards limit the size of the box if boos I can take to my seat, and I will be using all of those on the match officials.
The squad is too small to allow for rotation to keep the players fresh, and the elderly in the squad are struggling to recharge their batteries before the next match. And the other problem the size of the squad creates is that we have limited options to change tactics from the bench.
We are in this position because instead of seeing relegation as punishment enough for Mel’s malfeasance, along with the pain of the EFL ensuring we were relegated by hook or by crook, they have forced us to operate under probably the most punitive business plan ever seen in league football. They might as well have sawn the player’s legs of st the knee for good measure.
So instead of booing, we concentrate our vocal resources on the most popular song if the season, declaring what we want be done to the EFL.
”BOOK THE EFL, BOOK THE EFL, BOOK THE EFL …….” as required.

Agree - let’s get behind the team no matter what.
Disagree - the many factors affecting team performance are largely caused by the circumstances under which we are having to operate, which is entirely at the hands of the EFL. There had to be a business plan put in place to ensure that we don’t get into the same position again (although just having Mel leave the building would have been enough), but the one we are under is close to impossible to function properly with. As such we simply have to back the club to the absolute hilt.
Should the EFL loosen the straightjacket this summer, and in time to allow decent transfer activity, then I will happily be more lenient towards them.

I had one lady behind me nonstop cheering the boys on even when the crowd grew quiet.
She was also there clapping at the end , even with the disappointment of the loss.
It’s easy to support a winning team . You can see the effort but we are coming up short.
There were patches of good fluid football against PBoro but without an end product.
But without a 20 goal striker on the bench to change things , that’s where we are so we have to make do and cheering will always help the team more than jeering and moaning.
Its not happy clapping, it’s supporting through the dark times until we shine again 🐏

Actually Todd’s international career was limited by Alf Ramsey being a bitch. Having bern established in the England team, Ramsey then put him in the under 23’s which meant Todd would have no summer break at all. Todd declined, and was declined by Ramsey, who would rather stick to his guns and make a point rather than utilise the greatest defensive pairing England could ever have had.

I'd like to see Sibley start this game, probably on the left wing although I know a lot of people on here don't like him playing there. The crossing from our wide players has been absolutely atrocious recently and Sibley is probably the best we have in that department other than Hourihane.

Have you watched the penalty given against us at Plymouth recently? Compared with that White was assaulted. Interesting that non contacts result in penalties against us while definite trips are rarely given to us. Why the clear differential?

We moved it around nicely, about sums it up. Not much incisiveness not much aggression going forward, but it was quite nice at times. My 'dislike' for White for stems from the fact it is him playing rather than Sibley. Or Bird or Hourihane. Three extremely similar nice midfielders.
They struggled to get out of their half but we struggled to get in their box.
Another poor team choice from Warne including when and who he subbed.

So the result was inevitable as soon as Peterborough changed it up and we didn't react, and it has become a regular pattern. some of it is Paul Warne's limitations tactically, vis a vis only changing like for like in many of our matches. But he also only has a small squad without the variety to make substantial changes to our tactics, especially mid-match. Some of his team selections are also questionable - Apparently Louie Sibley's middle names are "drop me at the earliest opportunity even when others have played worse consistently or when I have just played an absolute belter in recent matches". Ironically all we were missing in the first half was someone who could have a shot and get it on target. Funny that, or it would be if it wasn't so sad - and frustrating. Yes we were playing without an out-and-out striker, because McGoldrick is a number 9, but isn't an out-and-out striker, while Collins runs around in an out-and-out striker's shirt. So to keep kicking the one player who has the potential to hit the target in the balls isn't wise.
Someone else has mentioned the issue of recovery times, with our older players looking tired and jaded, but that is the downside of playing a "gas-out" style with such a small squad. Could Paul have rotated the squad better? Well no, the squad isn't big enough to do that. There are loads of factors to our plight, and we can't just single single one of them out. The real culprit is the EFL. Seeing us relegated should have been punishment enough for Mel's misdemeanours, and while their had to be restrictions on how we run the club, our restrictions are so severe that they are strangling the life out of us. The EFL must be laughing in their sleep because they have stitched us up like a kipper.
Many were frustrated that we didn't make any inroads on Peterborough's goal against such a poor side despite being on top for most of the match. But they were only poor because we made them poor. White had a particularly good game, and played some lovely through passes. He is better further forwards and always seems to want to move the ball forwards, which is good. Roberts was very good as well. A tactical change worth trying is when Mendez-Laing is burning down the wing it might be worth have someone track him on the opposite wing and time hi run to arrive at the far side of the penalty area in case the ball is over-hit, as the second winger would be completely unmarked and in on goal.
Finally, the supporters were stupendously good today, drowning out the home fans for most of the match, and apparently staying behind for the players after the match, despite the result. Excellent!
