United just shading it and look dangerous from out wide.
We look physically able to compete, nice on the break. Definitely not as one-sided as expected.

The issue causing such division was folk moaning about the manager after 3 league games while the transfer window was still open.
Any manager, not just Paul Warne, deserves a couple of months with a brand new team before we go into meltdown.

Surely all footballers bar Jan Molby have at least one 'athletic quality'?
I mean, Will Hughes loved a tackle, Chris Martin was a wardrobe, Bryson had remarkable stamina etc.
Footballers are elite athletes after all.
Warne's stated admiration for good athletes is just good sense in the modern game isn't it? I never see that at the expense of skill. We haven't signed a single out and out untalented Vinnie Jones have we?
You could argue that all the recruits have at least one technical competency.
Adams can strike a ball, Ozoh, whilst being a unit is technically very sound, and Kenzo clearly has exceptional passing ability.
We need players who complement eachother and are multi-dimensional. It's all about building a balanced side isn't it?

Warne deserves loads of credit but not over the top, it’s one game against a mid table team. Conversely he doesn’t deserve the over the top criticism and in some instances vitriol when we lose!!

Can we just be a bit more balanced in our critique, and maybe just maybe get behind this gaffer (who is an amazing human being) and the team who put their bodies on the line and throw everything into the cause?!

I've been really lucky in my footballing life  - I've seen all our teams and managers since the mid 60's.  It's a period of success and failure the like of which we will never see again, the success side of it that is, just because football as a whole now makes that impossible.
To answer the question, it's Jim's side for me.  Jim probably wouldn't/couldn't have achieved what Arthur achieved - dragging and rebuilding a struggling club from Division 3 to the top of Division 1, but that side was largely built in Arthur's persona, certainly at the start  - dour at times, functional, practical, with stardust only in its latter year.  Jim's side was built in his shadow - alternative, sparkly, quirky.
Jim had Lionel; Arthur had the Maxwells.  Jim was the more fortunate.  Both delivered success; both properly well loved by those of us lucky enough to go through both eras

Who had the better team, which team was better to watch and who achieved more?
Arthur shades it for me. Loved Shilts, Mark Wright at the height of his career, Goddard and Saunders a wonderful striking partnership and the Tin Man working his magic on the wing. Arthur took us from the third division to the top 6 and the fringes of Europe. The BE did great too but not quite as good as Arthur.

When you consider how difficult the striker market was, to get Yates with not much of a fanfare surprised me. He was far beyond what I expected. He was an excellent player for Blackpool in all phases, 74 goal involvements in the last 4 years with three club top goalscorer awards AND 2 player of the year awards.
He didn’t settle in Swansea, to our benefit, but he’s a very good player at this level.

Couldn't make it to the game but just from the highlights a few things stood our with Yates:
1st goal he was so alert and following in the shot by Goudmijn, ready for a rebound if needed.
2nd goal was a quality touch to set up Jackson. I've pulled out a lot of hair over the years when our throw-ins were just casually volleyed back at the thrower and went out of play. The touch and awareness was excellent.
His positioning was great for the shot that hit the post, controlled a tricky ball and very unlucky not to score. Good confidence to take it on his left foot too!
Lots of positives to build on!

I don't expect the scoring to keep up as regularly as it is, but that's fine, we now have a squad where we have a few options. But he's lightning, and as has been demonstrated, he is a great guy and teammate. On a free, it was a no brainer as a squad player at minimum. It does go to show, people really need to stop speaking in absolutes about players they've barely ever seen (if at all) just based on stats they see online. They add flavour, but they ain't telling you much.
Warne has preached a lot about good blokes and has been mocked for it by some, but he has built a wonderful culture. You could see those celebrations for the third on Saturday, epitomised by a goalkeeper who has barely been here 2 weeks running the entire length of the pitch. When you're talent deficient compared to some rivals, that is the stuff that gets you competing and picking up more points than you ever should on paper. These lads are a joy to support.

The one thing that struck me most when we signed Jackson was how highly rated he seemed to be by your fans. I was quite surprised, given his goal scoring record with you was terrible, but it showed he clearly brought something more to the table which stats alone don’t show. And I think your post has quite eloquently summarised why he’s a much shrewder signing than most of us realised.
I have to admit, I was astonished and almost outraged when we signed him - 30 year old striker, atrocious goalscoring record and very little Championship experience. It looked like a poor League One signing, and an absolutely terrible Championship one. But so far, Kayden is making me eat my words and then some - he’s really proving a lot of us wrong.
Three goals already so far, and all of them have been very well taken - particularly his latest, which showed technique and strike of a football that belies his prior record. His goal against Boro also showed real composure, which again I didn’t think for a second he had in him.
His work rate is phenomenal as well, as the OP alludes to - he always puts in the effort to track back, and his electric pace is a real asset to chase down lost causes and press the opposition.  He sounds like such a lovely guy too, which is something our manager values highly.
Long may your form continue Kayden, I’ll look a right fool if you’re our top goalscorer with 18 goals come May! And thanks for the free transfer Ipswich, very much appreciated so far 😉

Greetings,  Ipswich  fan here, but don't worry I won't be making any more posts other than just this one.
I'd just like to say how pleased I was that Jackson got a really good move to a good club when he left Town,  and more so that he seems to have had a pretty good start with you.
KJ has had some footballing journey. He literally won a competition to be a pro footballer with Swindon Town,  only to spend his time there loaned out to Swindon Supermarine and various other non-league teams, before finally working his way into the football league and then getting what must have seemed like a dream move for him Championship Ipswich.  Unfortunately for KJ it was at a time when Town were utterly rubbish.  Hurst had just come in as manager,  sold anyone decent (Martyn Waghorn and Adam Webster most notably)  and replaced them with a bunch of league one players unproven at a higher level,  most of whom were individually not up to Championship level and collectively way off it.  Only Jackson and Janoi Donacien came good, and it took time for both of them. The end result was that Town got relegated with barely a whimper.
I'd like to say that in the lower league KJ shone, but he didn't.  He was mostly decent and put a shift in but wasn't really at the sort of level that would help get us promoted back to the Championship.  After an up and down few years under Pauls Lambert and Cook he ended up training with the under 23s and was in the 'bomb squad' those players that Cook wanted to shift on.
Then  McKenna took over and transformed him.  He seemed to gain confidence and though he was mostly a 'finisher' coming on as a sub more often than being in the starting eleven, particularly at Championship level,  he never let us down, always worked hard and made a lot of crucial contributions,  more in terms of making chances for others than scoring himself, including one of the best assists I was all last seasn where he put a low cross right onto Nathan Broadhead's toe for what was a lovely finish,  Broady could be seen mouthing 'what a ball' to KJ afterwards.  He did also score some crucial goals for us too,  a wonderful goal against Sunderland and another against Stoke after making space with some lovely movement stood out for me.
Just as importantly he always had a terrific attitude,   just about every fan who has met seems to have nothing but positive things to say about him, he does seem to be a genuinely great guy.  This, quite moving, post on TWTD gives a hint of what he's like https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/548325/5423156/
Anyway, we paid about £1.5m for him when he was far from the finished product, you have picked him up on a free after McKenna worked his magic for him.  You have got an absolute steal.   I wish both KJ and yourselves well for the coming seasns.
Anyway, that's it from me. Over and Out. Uppa Town

    Big opportunity for Brown.
Probably a few L1 managers doing interviews at their club saying "we had an offer in but the parent club decided to keep hold of their player" or something along those lines.

Came up against tough tackling midfielders, that never gave him a sniff second half, never got much help either. No surprise he was taken off. Bloke at side of me said I’d have Adams and Kenzo over Bird and Knight. Bit harsh, but they were largely ineffective particularly the second half.

Proper funny bants from Sibbo right there. In fairness, I think he, Max and Jason will all be very happy to see their old club apparently in full recovery. Could probably have done without yesterday's drubbing, but I doubt it'll leave any scars beyond a wistful 'what could have been' moment. Proper good eggs, all three of them.

Let's have it right here, Max Bird is a very good footballer who played his heart out for the club. His form after the deal with Bristol showed not only that he loved the club he was leaving, but also that the fact that he was going elsewhere wasn't going to stop him giving everything he had for Derby and the fans.
My take on today was that if you stuck Max in a midfield with Ebou and Ozoh around him, he'd look sensational too. Let's not rewrite history here; he spent half of last season playing in a 2 with Hourihane and he really shouldn't be judged on that at all and he looked really good today too until Ebou and Ozoh got hold of the game, after which, it was much harder. That shouldn't be used to mark him down, but rather to mark our lads up. I'm still really grateful to the lad as without the fee we got from Bristol, we'd not have got Ebou and without Ebou, we'd have been starting the new season still in league 1.
