How can you do predictions until the transfer window shuts ? Another 4-5 players especially a couple of decent forward ones could change things very quickly. Then also down to squad depths if injuries hit.
Same goes for all teams , last season the Champ was rather poor and congested from say 10th down , don’t see it being much different this year.

Perhaps then one could do another prediction based on that? Or is that forbidden. 😄 #COYR

I think I must be the only one that doesn't like the gold shirt but loves the green one. 😬

Nope, I'm with you there. Gold one looks like an ordinary keepers shirt, but 'love' is slightly strong for the minty one. 😄

Rohan Luthra officially signed as third choice/ youth goalie I’d imagine since Jack Thompson has gone out on loan.

"Luthra is expected to be involved in Derby County's Championship opener away at Blackburn Rovers on Friday night, live on Sky Sports Football."

Thanks for confirming I'm correct by virtue of this petulant response. Enjoy the rest of your day buddy 😁

No worries. It's worth it to stop your comments. 👍

We barely had a bottom 6 championship budget in League One, therefore I expect it to within the top 12 this season - although we will have to wait for the figures to come out.

How do you work that out?

Your aspersion was because the club have had time to identify targets, we should have signed a keeper by now. (If it wasn't explicit, that was definitely the inference).

I pointed out that our collective lack of awareness of the nuances of these dealings in general, and the idiosyncrasies of the JWZ deal, mean that we are not in a position to be making such negative aspersions, as that would border on conjecture.

You then claim that because neither of us know the facts, our opinions are equal. I'd argue my examination of the provenance and acknowledgement of the unknown actually elevates my stance here to be fairly obviously more informed than yours. I feel like you're going to disagree with this somehow though  🤔😂

Oooh aspersion. I made a comment that asked a question. It's a messageboard.

Now you tell me you have all the answers, I've read some of your posts on Facebook and Tik Tok I reckon.

I agree it’s prudent to keep other targets alive until this is done, but can’t get my head around the thinking of “that’s it, time to move on, there’s no point now” at the prospect of potentially having to wait a couple more games out of a season which is likely to be 50+ fixtures.

If he is our number one target, it is because we have decided he is the most we can get for the budget we have available. If they’re that certain in their conviction then it’s absolutely right to not give up until it’s too late.

If he is he our number one target now, maybe there was other keepers that were our preference but for one reason or another we moved on from them? So maybe we should/will have to do that again?

FWIW I don't think we'll do anything but wait it out, so lets hope it's the right choice.

No worries, always happy to help educate 🙂

(But this is the crux of it for me, we don't know because these dealings are private- you can't go namedropping people for unfair criticism if you have no proof of their level of involvement...)

Don't take up education as a profession. 😄

This is a place for discussing thoughts and rumours about DCFC. Yours without facts to back them up is the same value as mine.

Not everyone has time or is always in the right environment to find wherever the interview is playing, navigate and listen to it in full. As such they rely on someone quoting him or providing a written summary.

His interviews often end up trying to be everything to everybody and there's usually an element of stream-of-consciousness style waffle, sometimes contracting himself the very next second after he's said something. That and the obligatory jokey comments tend to confuse matters.  There's also the issue that some things are harder to convey when put to text and don't always come across as intended, especially true of intended humour.

He could help himself out at times by not trying to be the comedian, or by giving the occasional stock answer, but then again he needs that to maintain the cult of personality that surrounds him.

Nail on the head. I sometimes think he picks the team like that. 😄

Would you rather overpay on new signings? Protracted negotiations are part and parcel of getting value on new arrivals. Or we could return to the MM approach of just paying over the odds to get our man quickly- that worked out really well didn't it? Identifying targets and obtaining their signature are two radically different processes, handled by two separate teams. The fact you've namedropped Warne here is actually quite comical because he has virtually no sway in length of transfer negotiation. You'd be more accurate chucking Stephen Pearce's name in there, though for some reason you seem to think Warne is more of an issue than the mastermind who executed MM's transfer strategy in the latter years... 🤔

Is that the only other option?

Warne gets the final say on who is signed doesn't he?

So Pearce does our contract negotiating - I've asked before who does it, but no reply.

    Thanks for your input.

WhoScored's ratings I would say is more beneficial for attacking players and midfielders than defenders and goalkeepers as they tend to use volume metrics, so the busier the goalkeeper the more points they score and higher rating. Wildsmith was solid for us, bar some moments of madness, we really can have no complaints.

I do feel that we could've gone with Wildsmith for this season and probably had no complaints, but I always felt that Warne & Co were never completely sold on his mechanics/ability despite him being solid for us. I suspect that's why we moved on when we did and I suspect that's why there wasn't a ton of options for him despite being on a free.

How do you know this? His choice was WBA, we don't know who he turned down.

And none of the fans are part of the decision process.  From the clubs point of view, if he’s the best one within our budget, it’s worth hanging on for rather than going for the next best who’s available a few weeks early.  Act in haste, repent at leisure.

    Shut down the forum. 😄

I expect whatever Wildsmith had been asking for, the club had decided long before then they weren't going to come to an agreement, but there is no way they could pull the existing offer while the season was still in-play.

And so still the Club/Warne knew we needed another keeper for quite some time, as @jimtastic56 said.

I get the angst but I’d stick with it.  It’s a bit like you’ve interviewed 2 candidates for a job.  The best candidate has to give 3 months notice, but you can get someone not quite so good who’s only on a 1 month notice. You’d probably wait for the best candidate knowing it’s right decision in the long term.

I suppose actually the point is none of the fans have seen him play so don't really know he IS the best candidate.

How long have we been talking about replacing the Golden Glove winner ? Can’t say we have not had enough time .

RD Ed Dawes reckoned that until a few days after the Carlisle game - according to Wildy - there was a contract on offer but we changed our mind to his surprise. I suppose you could ask why he didn't sign it before then but...as you say we've had 'uncertainty' over our no.1 keeper for quite some time.

Thus, "JWZ" looks set to remain for almost two more weeks, when his Djurgården plays the return against Ilves on 15/8. The goalkeeper himself is open that he has been to Derby and completed a medical examination.  - They found that I was flat-footed... No, but there were no problems there, Widell Zetterström.  However, he is not entirely sure when a possible move to Derby might become relevant.  - I don't really know yet what applies. I was there for a medical examination. Most people know that. I don't know what happens next."

Oh god, I hope he remembers his insoles! FFS! 😄
