The end of that quote may well inadvertently work in @RoyMac5's favour however 😂image.png.6166d514f8766d0fb84388cda9cc764d.png

I had a velvet jacket like that one in the 70s! I can't be that smart as I keep replying to all the trolls jibes. 😂

Perhaps someone could start a celebratory thread for Warney I'd leave you to it. 😉

Perhaps we need to produce a pamphlet "accepting Paul Warne" or "How to be open to the light of Paul Warne's Derby County "

Bobble hatted missionaries going across the country, spreading the good news of Derby's promotion, starting places of worship for converts...

Issue them with collecting plates too, for the finances needed to compete in the Championship! 😄

Ive been a fan for over 55 years, but i think you can be a touch sarcastic at times.

Yes I can. However I do tend to stick to comments about the football/players/manager, that's the difference.

Sorry but you constantly make it plain what you feel about derby county in your posts

Well yes, how much I love Derby County. Any other points you are getting confused on are things like what I think about a player, or the manager or a style of play. They are different things you see. Is that plainer for you? I've only been a Rams fan for over 55 years so I know how fans can see things differently.

We came out of admin with 6 rostered senior pros and just missed out off the back a non-existent pre-season, with a cobbled together team. That team is now challenging for the autos in our second season since facing liquidation, all achieved while under soft-embargo and an enforced business plan too.

You can sneer all you like, but some folk are actually proud of how this club has turned things around, a notion you clearly find hilarious.

You are another poster without a clue about what I feel about Derby County. Stick to making comments about the football mate. 👍

Ooch ,,,, is somebody a bit hurt by derby doing well

You really are utterly without a clue aren't you?

I am so happy that Derby will be promoted to the Championship that it makes laughing at your posts all the sweeter. 😄 👍

Just to be clear as I don’t want it to be misconstrued, my reply to you wasn’t personal, it was meant as conversation and debate as others have been advocating for the last couple of days. You feel one way about this season (scraped in), I feel another (earned it but could have made it far smoother an experience overall if we’d put certain teams away) and was explaining my thoughts, wasn’t intended as a dig or anything so sorry if that’s how it came across

Sorry, you should know I don't mean your comments. I have no problem at all with people disagreeing with my view of Warne and then telling me what it is that I don't see in the football and results. But I am fed up with personal insults just because I don't rate Warne.

Warne has done his job, the one Clowes picked him for. And whilst we may have set Club records we've not exactly done it with any style (imho obvs 😄 ) and we're at a level we've hardly played at and are playing at not because of our football abilities but because of our financial failings.

Here's to next season! #COYR I'm sure you'll have a great time at the Carlisle game if you've a ticket. 🙂

Did you really though? The same manager, I’d argue the football was worse. We ran out of steam far earlier, the players were not as fit. We scored fewer goals, conceded more. We lost more, drew more, won less. Other than the novelty of playing some teams we’ve never played before, or not played for a long time, I don’t see any aspect of last season that was more enjoyable.

Fair enough, that is your take on it, see @Nuwtfly post about 'enjoyment'. I enjoyed last season more, that is my take on it. I can't be bothered to explain why it will only lead to more personally anti posts about me rather than the football.

I'll be happy to be promoted, and now I'm looking forward to next season. #COYR

I think the intent of this thread was for people to discuss and suggest players who we could sign to improve the squad, not to suggest how likely we are to fail next season. I thought after last night there’d be more optimism around 😞

I'm optimistic about next season in the Championship. We have the resources in Academy and finance, we have the stadium and training facilities, we will once again have the 'pull' to attract good players. #COYR

What I said was factual. If you can't be happy with most points ever, then when can you?

When did I say I was unhappy with us getting promoted? 🙂

I replied as a joke, but there's so much personal abuse on this site nowadays it just all gets lumped together.

  11. 2 minutes ago, Srg said:

Don't forget it's the most points we've ever had, and the joint most away wins we've ever had. Guess we've never had a good season before.

Lol. I guess it depends how long you've been watching us play? 😄

Players that were free or unwanted by their previous clubs. Players that are paid what the EFL will allow, not whatever we want. Yes, they are good players for this level and well-paid towards other clubs, but as we know ourselves, more money does not necessarily equal more success.

Well I guess the Prem teams like Chelsea have found out that having a good manager to spend the money is just if not more important. We're down in League 1 because we had points deducted not because we bought bad players or were out played.

I enjoyed last season more than this, and if this season ends in promotion I'll be glad to get out of this League.

First promotion for 17 years. First automatic promotion for nearly 30 years. Let’s counter your argument and say you think that finishing 3rd, playing good football but failing where it really matters is an achievement?

    Glad your happy. 👍

As I replied, yes an achievement. Done with some of the League's best players and best paid players. Oh, well not yet done, so probably scraped in. An achievement though.

What do you want to discuss? Everyone agrees the quality of football hasn't been great but that’s all you keep harping on about.

It was a quote from a post above it about being able to discuss things. But there you go again with your nasty retorts.

If we'd go up finishing sixth playing the worst football ever seen it would be the  best achievement since 2006/07. We have achieved exactly nothing tangible since then.  Come close a few times, but fallen short.

We can only start to play flowing football in the Championship.  We could be the 1970 Brazil team and would struggle in this league.  Getting promoted is a stunning achievement - even if it is our minimum standard.

    😆

This really isn't the League 1 of old, whatever that means. There's been very little kicking and out-muscling and much playing of football to a greater or lesser extent. Don't we hold the stats for 'airball' Warneball? 😄

It isn't a stunning achievement, but it is literally an achievement. As has been said elsewhere we weren't relegated on footballing inability but on administrative inability.

Can and should are different things.  You can debate anything at anytime.  It doesn't mean you should.

It comes across to me as pure Monty Python to have a debate about sacking a manager two games out from a clubs greatest achievement since 2006/07.

Lol. Greatest achievement since 2006/7? You think coming second in League 1 playing turgid football is an achievement? Lets debate it.

    Nah that's okay, it's not appropriate. 👍

Cole Palmer ripping Everton a new one...2 goals in the 1st 20mins, Why does he rub both arms when scoring a goal...this old un knows nowt about these celebrations...no sweets please 😁

Woah he looks bloody good. Great hat trick, such nonchalance for his third too.

Cus he wasn’t very good in my opinion but has reverted to his normal midfield role and has been great.

I guess I’m saying Sibbers isn’t playing in his preferred position and thus not having the chance to impress and build his worth in an AM position duck.

Gotcha. I hope we get chance to find out.
