You two could get a room and listen to Smiths albums all day.😧

GenBr reacted to B4ev6is in David McGoldrick - joined Notts County
Or end his career at derby as champions of league one.

It would certainly be a term that would come to mind when watching Derby. We barely played passes along the floor when building from the back, we hoofed 50 yards and hoped our wingers/Didzy held it up, there's no way you can deny that.

@Crewton is famous on the LTLF forum!

GenBr reacted to Comrade 86 in Wigan Athletic Players Not Paid (Again)
We didn't 'pay extra for something to be nice' though, did we? We did exactly what some are moaning about and gouged the hell out of them on player values.
I think in cases where the 'seller' is in admin, a tribunal should set a fair market value to ensure that clubs (like Derby) who are already suffering, are not getting dry-humped into oblivion.

GenBr reacted to Ambitious in 23/24 season
Recruitment is absolutely everything - it baffles me how reckless some clubs are with their due diligence and how lazy some club's approach to it is. We were terrible in that regard under Mel Morris.
Clough had his own parameters for scouting players and who he wanted in the club. He signed some decent players, but also signed some rancid footballers. From listening to podcasts, it also sounds like a very strange character who would treat some players like s*** and give others the run of the club and I think the players he brought into the club showed in his character for better and worse.
I know recruitment isn't always a simple process, but there is literally software where you can watch every touch of a player from around the world in all different types of situations, including every data point possible for a game. It truly comes down to how hard you're willing to work to find the right players. How well a person can interpret data initially to create a shortlist and then once they have the shortlist, how do they analyse players.

GenBr got a reaction from LeedsCityRam in 23/24 season
I know its a while ago now and things have changed a bit, but the squad that Nigel built when he was here was built on a shoestring and he managed to bring in some of my favourite players of the past 20 years. I think you are right and if we can get our recruitment sorted I can't see any reason why we need to spend ourselves into oblivion like we did under the last administration.

GenBr reacted to Day in Can Luton beat our record?
Feels like it's almost a record some want to keep for the self deprecating humour.

GenBr got a reaction from Van der MoodHoover in Can Luton beat our record?
Do we still hold the record for the longest winless streak in the Prem? I think we can still extend that one if we ever get back up, so may as well give all our old records another go 😂
People who say it will never happen baffle me. There are going to be decades and decades and decades more of Premier League seasons. Its ridiculous to believe there is zero chance of someone performing poorly in all that time

GenBr reacted to Millenniumram in Live football thread.
Made my day that has.
Every Coventry fan I’ve ever met has been a complete cockwomble, and I think they were the first to start the “party when Derby die” chant last season - despite all their problems.
Luton have been to absolute hell and back, much like us - they deserve this so much. Congrats.

Their stars will go, and ultimately their ''much better side' still got them relegated. They are a club without direction, do not assume it'll be easy for them.

GenBr got a reaction from David Graham Brown in Leeds United Premier League Adventures
They do have some good players - tielemans, barnes, maddison, etc, but i think tielemans leaves for free now as his contract expired. They'll probably get a bit more for maddison with him being English, but will they reinvest that money particularly well? I'd agree with you and guess probably not if recent years have been anything to go by

GenBr got a reaction from Premier ram in England - Euro 2024 qualifiers
Nonsense. You want a player who is playing regularly at club level and playing well. Maguire is doing neither and can't even get his place back from Shaw who is primarily a left back.
Southgate dropped one of his other favourites in the form of Sterling and he should have done the same with Maguire. Just because he likes the guy is not a good reason to have him in the squad.
