  1. I’ve never really joined in with it. It just sounds tinpot imo.
  2. That’s the thing, we shouldn’t clap along to it! A goal celebration should be completely natural, and not a forced attempt at singing/clapping to a crap tune. It’s the tune we sing for Conour Hourihane. If it only played when he scored, I wouldn’t mind as much.
  3. It's crap, cringey and completely unnecessary. That is all.
  4. Horrible horrible bloke
  5. Yeah I downloaded ages ago and swiftly deleted.
  6. Just an app on which you can log games you've attended, enter competitions, etc.
  7. Just our luck if he scores against England
  8. No idea why so many people are constantly miserable about England. It must be something in the national psyche. Regardless, this thread will be better off if people who don't give a toss about the national team keep those thoughts to themselves.
  9. Speaks about his time at Derby for around 10 minutes here (vid should play from the relevant section). Few things I took from it: 1) Too nice on the bald barsteward who shall not be named (not @David), and failed to mention that our spending that summer was what tipped us to near-oblivion 2) While the permanent signings were largely poor value, the loan signings were well-targeted recruitment that deserve credit 3) He did genuinely care about the club 4) Beating Bielsa tactically in the second leg understandably boosted his confidence going into the summer (even if it was misplaced) 5) He wasn't actually hugely bothered about Spygate, and just put up a bit of a front for the club
  10. It’s absolutely fair to criticise an experienced head for getting an avoidable suspension, in the middle of a crucial promotion run-in with minimal cover. I suppose where the line is drawn between what’s fair criticism and what’s a sanctimonious pile on is subjective.
  11. Difference being, Lawrence was never brought in to be an experienced leader. Doesn't excuse what Lawrence did, but Bradley was supposed to be better than this.
  12. Yeah, if he's that way inclined he may be tempted to quadruple his money and sit on the bench (or worse) for a Prem team. He may have seen Scott Carson having the time of his life and wants a piece!
  13. On the plate. Anything else is tory.
  14. Is that your inference from the tweet or context from seeing the full answer?
  15. Not trying to start a Pearce pile on, but what point is he trying to make about the independent regulator here? That they would have stopped Morris?
  16. Love little stories like that. Part of what makes music so great.
  17. Agreed. Regardless of how many barstewards there are in the Reading, Boro, Wycombe, Birmingham and even Forest fanbases, there will still be many that are utterly devastated by the prospect of their club going under. B4 was one in a million, but each fanbase will have their own versions of him and others that don't deserve to go through that crap. I hope they keep their club.
  18. I do share a lot of your pessimism around MPs. Far too many careerists and, on the Labour side (not to get too political), people that seem to care more about winning the election at all costs rather than actually standing for anything. I'm hoping that will change after the election, but I won't be banking on it. It also doesn't help that tech and AI policy isn't exactly an election winner, so there's not a huge incentive to tackle these issues.
  19. I can understand this viewpoint, though I do think it would be possible for a smart (probably young) leader to tackle the issue. Same goes for formulating a dynamic policy on AI. The problem is, I'm yet to see anyone close to power in the UK or US that has the knowledge, competence and vision to do it. We live in hope. A bit of moral courage from the tech companies would also help, but that's even more of a remote possibility.
  20. When you see how effective the tech companies are at hacking your attention, I'd argue you need more than just "better education". As a bit of a leftie, I have no problem with measured, balanced government intervention to tackle problems like this.
  21. It's looking like a real possibility. See here (ironically shared on Twitter): What's also concerning is the content that's being fed to kids and other vulnerable people. I defend TikTok for being more than just a "teenagers doing silly dances" app, but there is a darker side to it. Some of the livestreamed content is, at best, mindless, and the worst stuff is actively harmful. It's not moderated properly by TikTok; parents have no idea it exists; and kids won't know any better when they consume it. See here https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktok-live-all-night-clickbait-grifts-scams-sleep-streamers-twitch-2023-2 And this isn't just restricted to TikTok. Other dangerous content (see misogynistic, "alpha male" content on all platforms, particularly Twitter) is out there and accessible to kids without restriction. I think it would be completely wrong to ban kids from social media, but the tech platforms should be doing far more to moderate the content that's published. This is why the "free speech at all costs" approach is wrong imo.
