Yep, it does sound OTT. 

Not the obvious choice, but I get the rationale. With his contract length too it’s his time to step up to the plate or be another expensive signing that disappoints and leaves on a free.
On a side note, Rooney’s rousing speech; wow. I feel like I was more engaging and  inspiring as a Sunday league manager, and weren't strangers to losing by cricket scores.

I actually think this could be a good idea. I'm convinced he's matured, we saw that at the back end of last season. Whether you like it or not, he's one of the top players at the club now and very experienced. He'll thrive with the responsibility.

Because Rowett had suddenly become a world beater after being with a job for a few months and was about to join Norwich combined with us hitting a little rough patch under McClaren.
