BucksRam got a reaction from Anag Ram in Watchable telly
Fully agree. Great TV but not at all enjoyable. Mix of sadness and incredulity but mainly anger at the blinkered ineptitude shown by those in charge.

Which sums up rugby players nicely

I played scrum half until my late teens - was probably the smallest guy on the field (probably no probably about it) - but tackled way harder than my size and was really quick. Used to absolutely love it, but when I got hit by one of the forwards, especially where I didn't see it coming, jeez I'd go flying. Never stopped me going back for more.
Not long finished Haskell's book What A Flanker, and one thing he makes clear is that rugby players spend their lives in pain; it's something you just live with, week in week out. Part of me would love to see what it's like out there at the elite level, but I know for a fact I'd only go in for one tackle but wouldn't be getting up again. Watching from the stand with a pint is far safer.

Finished 3rd in 2007 so they've been here before. Well deserved on todays performance.

Since I'm here I thought I'd chuck in a couple I'm watching:
Slow Horses (Apple) - a bit slow (sic) to this one but brilliant IMO, about a group of cast out MI5 spooks. Only watched S1 so far, and hoping S2 doesn't disappoint. Great cast, especially Gary Oldman.
Invasion (Apple) - Sci-Fi - more about the people than the aliens - enjoying this too, currently on S2E8. Has had mixed reviews (some saying too slow paced) but I don't think so.
The Long Shadow (ITV/ITVX) - Focuses on the victims of The Ripper attacks of the 70s including some pretty bigoted views on women and highlighting the police's many failings . Compelling TV and def worth a watch.

Probably more for the terrible pun than the fact you were watching a fishing program

BucksRam got a reaction from Premier ram in Watchable telly
Forgot all about this; watched all 6 episodes Tuesday night. As you say, a gentle but brilliant watch. Why did you come to bed at 1am asked the wife. Watching a fishing program that had me hooked. She just looked at me and walked away. Look forward to the next series already.

BucksRam got a reaction from Ram-a-lama fa fa fa in HS2 northern leg to Manchester cancelled
Not just about the tunnels themselves @Gaspode(I live in the Chilterns) but the type - despite various bodies presenting solid, professionally obtained evidence that there were better, and cheaper ways to build these tunnels, HS2 has constantly ignored the suggestions sticking to their original plans.
Spot on @ariotofmyown - the journey into the office along the A413 to Great Missenden / Amersham (once every week or two now since COVID) is soul destroying. Utterly devastated the landscape to, save a so-called 15/20 minutes off a journey that no-one actually wants (or will use). Utter madness. Acres and acres of ancient woodland, historic pathways, rolling hills, trees that have stood for hundreds of years, all wiped out forever - multiply that along the whole route from London to Birmingham and the damage to this country is almost too much to comprehend. I certainly don't call this progress.

You're so right. It was really sad that the sycamore was cut down, but even near me, we've lost old oak woodland that was 100s of years old all in the name of so-called progress. Makes me seethe.

Ha, yeah I have and know exactly what you mean. Honestly despair at the whole thing. As someone who's worked in projects for 20 years I struggle to see the business case. Struggled when it was first announced and still struggle. Absolutely smacks of back-handers, bungs and dodgy deals.

BucksRam reacted to Comrade 86 in Cricket World Cup 2023
Well that was a tonking! 😂 Conway I knew about, but watching Ravindra the last few games, he looks some player.
I really rate this bunch of Kiwi lads tbh. I'd not be surprised if they went and won it.

What sorcery is this? A positive thread, full of positive comments about Derby players? Be off with you.
FWIW, agree 100% with the OP

BucksRam got a reaction from Alph in QPR commentator saying it how it is...
Saw this at the time. Cheat is being polite. We call him a Bamford for a very good reason - he's done this many times before; always been a cheat and really about time the powers that be hold him (and others) to account.
