IF this has any truth then I'm interested.  His stock has dropped.  We all know that. Yeah Pep wanted rid, but IMO he was looking at it from a "world class" perspective.  It's relative. He has a mistake in him, something else we probably all know, but all keepers do, so if the money's right, and he's desperate to play then I'd want him.  He can catch a ball (more than Roos or Hamer anyway), he's a great shot stopper. Pretty good ball distribution (certainly at our level), and importantly he commands and marshalls the defence.  Worth a punt me thinks.

I think 'Pep' wanted the best ball playing top keeper in the world. Hart's distribution was pretty good, just not the best. Not sure we are in the same market as Man City for a ball playing golalkeeper?

I still get grumpy when my Watford mate reminds me of how little they paid for Will.  Why do we never seem to cash in like other clubs.  OK I don't expect us to sell him for £15m+ but £5m feels ludicrously low considering his quality.  Unless he goes for £5m, with an immediate guaranteed (no recall) season long loan back, plus a 10-15% sell on fee......

Watched the game but only now made time to scan the thread.  I forecast a win, although deep down thought we'd lose.  Saw their team and knew it was almost a certainty as it was near as their first team.
Thought we did good.  The youngsters performed really well, and will have benefited hugely from the experience, as did (no surprise) Rooney who oozes class.  I know Man U have struggled but even so, they're still a top PL team, with some world class players who all turned up last night...Shaw, Fernandes, McBamford ....
I hate losing but we can hold our heads high - given some more clinical finishing, or Rooney's free kicks being a couple of inches either side, we'd have scored at least 2. Then who knows....
Onwards and upwards, which is where this team is slowly, but surely heading.....if we remain patient enough. Stay positive and strong all...our time will come.

To try and keep the optimism flowing, rather than trying to list players who we should have bought, or ought, I'll just focus on a few bits.
We had an absolutely awful start to the season, hindered by a dire pre-season.  Lampard jumped ship.  Cocu joined, knowing zilch about the Championship.  We lost our 3 best players back to the PL. Keogh-gate.  Distracting sale issues. Now EFL charges hanging over us.  Despite all that, acadamy players have been successfully blooded, Bird/Knight excelling.  Rooney's joined and is making a big difference.  Cocu is finally getting to grips with the team and, because of bad luck / poor decisions we should have another 3-5 points on the board minimum IMO,  sitting around 10th or 11th.  Performances are improving if not quite the results yet.  We're not far off.  Yes we could do with 2 or 3 players so let's see what Cocu does in the summer.  I do think he's the right man for the job.  Look what he's done with everything that he's inherited and has happened since joining.
Points deduction threat aside, I am really optimistic we're on the up again and I remain confident for a much more exciting 20/21.

Absolutely agree.  I challenged the price (about £5 too much) and SHE said "are you telling me black people can't add up".  WTF?  I actually said words to the effect "what's the fact you're black got to do with it? Why are YOU saying that. All I'm asking is for you to check the price".  It's a mad mad world.

Lurked on this thread for nearly 40 pages without commenting.  Why?  Because in today's society almost anything you say on race, religion, sex, disability or any number of things can be miss-construed or judged. We all have views and opinions based on our own race, colour, creed, upbringing, age or social class   It's a precipice. I  hadn't commented as I was worried about being judged. How mad is that really?
Was CR right in saying what he did? No. Was he being consciously racist? IMO no.  What he said however, WAS wrong as it created an unconscious bias and race stereotype.  I was accused of being a racist 2 years ago at a Twickenham RFU bar by a black girl, just for challenging the cost of drinks on the basis of "are you saying black people can't add up". Utter madness (we were overcharged but she refused to apologise).  My mate had a similar experience politely asking a woman to turn her phone off speaker in Nandos as it was full volume for ages and was affecting his family's meal time.  The manager was scared to ask!  She accused him of being a racist. Another school teacher mate is currently suspended undergoing safeguarding checks because he's twice had crying students in his office asking for support but had his door unknowingly closed.  A female teacher has done similar but nothing's been said about that.  He's now borderline depression as a result with the view that regardless he will give up the job he loves because of how he's been viewed. He feels he's being badged a groomer / paedophile.
Where am I going with this? No idea really.  Racism, sexism and most other -isms are a real thing and are very serious but there is still a long way to go yet to get rid of the huge grey area between society's perceptions of an innocent situation (my 3 examples), ignorance through something innocently said or done which does rightly cause offence (where CR falls into I think) and genuine racist or sexist comments aka monkey chants etc. which need to be dealt with as strongly as possible.
Sorry for the long piece. Said my bit now.  Let's just focus on the football, getting behind our great club and team regardless of their colour, nationality or sexual orientation. They pull on that shirt, they're a Ram, that's all there is to it.
