I think that's what this thread and the spacex threads are about. But the posts about Facebook/Meta don't go any way to answer that question, do they? They mostly seem to be saying "social media good or bad for humanity", but there's really not going to be much argument that they are collectively bad. The only difference is that the supporters of Musk are claiming X is good for humanity, where everyone else is saying all social media is bad for humanity.

So disappointing to see the Work & Pensions Secretary Mel Stride saying that the de-stigmatisation of mental health issues has gone “too far” and that we should just consider it the “normal ups and downs of human life”
I'm pretty sure that most people who have contributed to this thread have had their mental health struggles and found that it's the de-stigmatisation of mental health issues which has allowed them to open up - and that's a brilliant thing. None of us are alone
It disgusts me that we have dinosaurs like this in positions of power who think we should  go back to the days of telling people to "just get over it" 😞

It's the new culture war, pick a side buddy. You are either a free speech hero and on Musk's side, or you lover Zuckers and worship Facebook. THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS.

I thought the jist of the article from those interviewed was that in retrospect they were taken aback by how genuine he seemed, and how they thought it impossible (at the time) to even consider that he wasn't the real deal
The bit where someone describes him being at the LIV Pro-am golf thing and he was giving Yasir Al-Rumayyan bear hugs and acting like they were the oldest, bestest friends. Without the benefit of hindsight, if you'd witnessed scenes like that - would you have thought "nah he's probably a fraud"?
Taking the fact he nearly destroyed our club out of the equation, you almost have to have a kind of admiration for quite how far he took his fantasist lifestyle and what he got away with. On a par with Anna Sorokin. Would anyone be surprised if they maker a Netflix series out of it?

Puts it into perspective - I had 20 years unbroken season ticket up until Covid happened. I then held off renewing because it was far from clear as to when the restrictions would be lifted. Then I got ill and had a major op that left me unable to do anything for a year or so.
Since I've been back on my feet I've been going to maybe every other Saturday home game
I'd sort of told myself that next season I'd get back on board with a ST, but for me and my lad it's £600 behind the goal (which I'm not a massive fan of) and £800 on the side. Not having had a pay rise in all that time, and the cost of living soaring - there's absolutely no way I can afford it now 😞
Not going to have a dig at the club - but football in general is becoming completely unaffordable for families.

Can you imagine the absolute meltdown amongst the fanbase if Morris had basically come out and said he didn't like/trust/whatever Kirchner and wasn't going to deal with him?  The same with the EFL and Quantuma really.  Kirchner passed the basic tests he was required to pass, and had all the hallmarks of a reputable businessman - it wasn't like he was that random Sheikh who may or may not be related to the Man City lot, or that Spanish guy who seemingly had very little beyond an Instagram profile (which was probably faked anyway), or any of the other chancers who cropped up over the years.  He owned a legit business, had major financing from reputable companies and was actively involved in sports sponsorships.
If any of MM/the EFL/Quantuma etc had come out and said they weren't dealing with Kirchner, then Kirchner would have been all over Radio Derby/social media etc saying he was trying to save Derby and whoever was stopping him doing it.  It would have been chaos.

Wht an utterly uninformed and ridiculous comment. The country is devoid of any infrastructure at all, even basic things like running water, food in supermarkets. The streets are ruled by random gangs of warlords with only criminal intent at mind. What do you expect them to do, write a letter to their MP? Maybe have a cake sale to raise funds for a new swimming pool for the kiddies?
As @sage said, nobody from the outside is coming as there is no political benefit in doing so. Truly, it is a living hell - no hope to fix it yourself, no hope to get help to do so. We should collectively hang our heads in shame that the only time we care about our fellow (wo)man is when there is economic benefit to do so.

He did the Lemon interview because he wanted to try and expand Twitter into a broadcast video platform. Lemon was fired from CNN for making controversial "unwoke" comments about women, so Musk clearly saw him as prime candidate to entice his anti-woke fanboys

if im not mistaken the amount of radiation on mars is the reason they said it could never be done. And id rather he put his money into fixing this world not letting it go to ruin and then buggering off somewhere else. I wrote a song about it years ago called locust of man.

    BBC News:
A US judge has thrown out a lawsuit brought by Elon Musk's social media firm X against a group that had claimed that hate speech had risen on the platform since the tech tycoon took over.
X had accused the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) of taking "unlawful" steps to access its data.
The US judge dismissed the case and said it was "evident" Mr Musk's X Corp did not like criticism.
X said it planned to appeal.
Imran Ahmed, founder and chief executive of CCDH, celebrated the win, saying Mr Musk had conducted a "loud, hypocritical campaign" of harassment and abuse against his organisation in an attempt to "avoid taking responsibility for his own decisions".
