I work as a designer and Glenfiddich is a client of mine so have a bit of a bias. Anything Japanese is delicious though.

I'm not sure it's pettiness necessarily. I'm sure he's frustrated, wouldn't you be? A little unprofessional, maybe, and it might be enough to jar a counter-statement from Derby as we remain wholly in FFP due to being so well run. We may "throw money around", but it's money to we have spare to throw around. A notable difference from clubs such as QPR.

Derby fans judging him by how he's performed for Derby is fair enough. And while I agree you have a right to be skeptical over the people, such as myself (I saw about 10 of his games for Eibar last season and a couple in the division below the season before), who rate him it is not a one way street.
I don't blame people for not rating him but you also shouldn't assume he's bottom of the CB class over what you saw last season. Any CB of Derby in the second half of last season was as much a liability as Albentosa was, and IF he performs at the level he did in La Liga (I understand that is a big if) he is of a caliber similar to Shackell (if I had to pull a comparison out of thin air). So IF he is settling, and playing like that in pre-season and training a lot of people who have written him off may well be very surprised when they see the XI starting away at Bolton.
Although even playing at that level, I wouldn't be shocked to see Keogh in place of him as sometimes we'll need pace in our CB's. But wouldn't it be nice to have some horses-for-courses options instead of only 2 CB's who can do anything at all.
Now - it's not a certainty he's going do well, clearly. And if he doesn't, I think he'll go during January. Just don't count him out.

well this is the thing, you can only accuse someone of struggling for pace if you've seen them struggle....er....with pace. Now take your time, but please remind me of the time(s) where a player has beaten Albentosa for pace in or around the box, and I'll award treble points if any led to an opposition goal. The hospital pass from Will Hughes v Reading doesn't count.
his passing was hit and miss, and the misses were purely down to lack of understanding, not inability to pass. Poor decisions (as a team) and poor communication (as a team) were to blame.
his hoofs were occasional, and that is the truth because I have seen him make several passes along the floor. His propensity to hoof is no greater than any of our defenders.
The comments about fan perceptions speaks for itself. As for you opinion.....and you qualifications... we all know what we know. I am convinced Albentosa will make some of you look silly.

I'm not saying that isn't true,
but I just want to point out I don't think I've seen anything that looks more like it came straight from a reddit argument than that.

Short & neat passing is great, we should encourage it (as we do) but there are times when it is more appropriate to play the ball long / over the top. An aerial ball is not automatically 'hoofball' - see Buxton's long balls out to Forsyth on the wing.
There is of course a risk and reward factor but a lot of errors last season came from players, having ran out of good passing options, trying to force passes that simply weren't on, attempting to make a short pass that stood about 5% chance of reaching one of our own players.
Often this was because of a lack of movement around them, but Christie in particular had a habit of being utterly indecisive, holding onto the ball too long and having all his passing options blocked off by the opposition.

"If they sit high then you go over them, if they sit deep then you try to get round them, or if you’re good enough you go through them" Paul Clement
I can already hear the boos ringing out as soon as Pearce/Buxton/Albentosa/MaybeShackell hit a long ball when under pressure from the opposition, instead of giving away possession 10 yards outside of our box.

and I don't think anyone will be doing any "vying" with a healthy Thorne to be honest.

This 'big signing' you've heard about has come from Nixon and he's said it isn't Rhodes

Done my donating. Think you guys will do a lot of good for Derby and the fans, sure there a more successful clubs but at this point in time there can't be many that resonate so much pride in those associated with it.

Saints weren't a whole lotta good last season, even with Graham. However, I'm not sure they are going to be much worse either. Their WR's have always seen action spread out, Brees might need to focus on Cooks a little more but he's good enough to use what he's given (all deflategate Tom) Their D is bad, and expensive, but no worse than some others, especially in a division containing Tamba Bay and Atlanta, who don't offer much defensively.

This would be my guess. Paul Clement's interview suggested there wouldn't be any new signings for a little while. But then, if a signing is 24 hours away from being announced maybe he already considers that player part of the squad.
