I've been noticing an obvious growing recognition of Derby's academy over the course of this season. Clearly facilitated by the presence of young players in our first team, but people (who spend a lot of time following youth football) are noticing how talented our academy remains despite so many players making the step-up. Not just commenting on the obvious in regards to Bird, Sibley etc. etc.
That recognition is important; because Derby's academy is one of the best in the country (and is up there in Europe too) - and the more people who are aware of that the more often situations like last season's with Jahmal Hector-Ingram will occur. Young players will want to play here, and the quality will keep rising.

Roos and Ravas will do if we can't bring someone else in.
It might be difficult for many people to grasp but Roos is a perfectly acceptable Championship keeper; he sits quite comfortably in the average - above average range compared to his peers.
Carson aint coming back, I don't think. Man City reportedly want to keep him in his current role and at this stage of his career I think he far prefers raking it in by doing nothing while working with some of the best in the world than playing in the Championship. I certainly would.

Buchanan's defensive numbers were pretty strong.
A the peak were 5 successful tackles from 5 attempted tackles. Most on the pitch (Shinnie was 2nd with 3); everyone else in the game had 0, 1 or 2.

I find the focus on crosses quite interesting, I'm looking into that.

Buchanan put in a good performance for me. Despite what others have said, I recall him reading play well with a few interceptions, as well as blocking a few crosses and shots. He was calm on the ball, knew when to clear it, and broke away a few times down the wing. His crossing was a bit hit and miss (the same with most full backs in this league).
The game finished with me thinking he'd be a more complete full back than Fozzy and Lowe once he's gained a bit more experience and grows a little bit more.

Two teams with nothing to play for, in front of no fans, bizarrely played in the middle of July.
Pretty perfect storm for a poo game tbh 😄

    FT 3-1 to Leeds.
As I suspected, Derby could not be arsed. And Leeds are a superior team in every department.
    An unsurprising result.

I find it interesting that there's been an on going dialogue in this thread about which individuals may or may not be good enough for us going forward; while a close to full-strength side is losing to a competitor's second string.
Plenty of individuals aren't good enough if promotion is the goal. Should be backups if we're wanting to compete next season.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out the guard of honor was Cocu's wish, rather than through any sense of obligation.
He's a far classier individual than most, and also wouldn't a Guard of Honor have been complete normality for him throughout his career? (Making an assumption - wasn't an avid viewer of foreign football 😄).

Safe hands from Roos there. Always really satisfying when a powerful shot just sticks to the keepers gloves.

Doesn’t matter which direction a pass goes. If receiving player is offside to begin with, it’s still offside.

I produced a foul fart that forced me away from my computer for a few minutes but it doesn't look like I've missed anything.
