  1. Bit of a misleading title, a better one would be 'Is the universe a lot older than we thought?' Interesting chat non-the-less.
  2. Another good win, hopefully we can keep the momentum going until the transfer window opens. Win our game(s) in hand and we're 3rd, 6pts off top 🙂 Portsmouth vs Bolton being played on Monday night, a draw would be nice!
  3. I can post this cos my wife is blonde and she doesn't read this forum.
  4. One more and they could have had one for each finger/thumb!
  5. I don't care about the Elon Musk/Twitter drama, you could do away with all social media for me and the world would be a better place, but this guy has a point. We saw with Brexit and to a much larger degree Covid, that we are now very much living in a Corporatocracy.
  6. Well first and foremost we're all here for the football, so we've always got that 😘 I've always been an advocate for patience, we're still feeling the effects of previous years - not only re. the players we've bought in, but the (lack of) players coming through the academy. We could cope with selling players off during administration as we had good players coming through that were just about ready to step up - have an injury crisis now and we're down to the bare bones. I said a while back that assuming we can get to Christmas in or around the top 6 we'll be an attractive proposition for players that want to come for a promotion push. Last year the January transfer window killed us - we were still under restrictions, didn't reinforce and ran out of stamina whereas the teams around us strengthened. This season assuming we bring in some good players, we should kick on. As you mentioned, we've now got a nice 11 day break to recharge and the 2 postponed games will hopefully come after we've added a couple more players. I still think we'll do okay this season, we just need to stop the kneejerk reactions after every match.
  7. Can you win on a cold night in Stoke? Yes. Yes we can 🙂
  8. We did, but it probably felt like a loss to PW cos it was a late goal.
  9. They still can't get their heads around rapid unscheduled disassemblies, why would I confuse them with double rainbows. Aurora's are my new passion, one advantage of living in a quiet coastal village is that when I take the dog for a walk on the beach at night I get about 270 degrees of dark skies, I must have seen at least half a dozen this year. Unfortunately I don't have a decent camera, but several pro photographers post pics regularly on the local facebook groups. This was from yesterday. Stunning.
  10. Pity there are some truly awful teams in the PL this season and they can always loan a few in from Olympiakos now since they voted to allow it if they get really desperate 🤨
  11. If you've got relatively clear skies tonight it might be worth nipping outside quick, fantastic view of a Moon Halo - looks like full rainbow around the moon up in North Yorkshire atm. My phone camera is pretty crap, but there are plenty of decent images like this one on t'internet
  12. Something along the lines of the fan led applause being for Daniel Beavis, a true Rams fan both home and away etc. I can't remember it all tbh but it was quite a touching eulogy. Both the applause and comments by Dominic Dietrich came across well over the radio.
  13. Gotta admit I was listening intently to Radio Derby up here in North Yorkshire hoping to hear the applause in the 38th minute (it came across loud and proud). I wasn't expecting the commentators to mention it, let alone talk about Daniel for as long as they did. B4 touched a lot of lives and trust he was happy with the recognition he got today as he looked down on us all going through the agony that is following The Rams. I'm pretty sure he tied the defenders boots together for the first and willed the ball into the net for the second! Its still sad to think we won't see anymore of his rousing posts on the forum.
  14. Yeah I'm not complaining 👍 I said months ago that if we can get into the top 6 by Christmas we'll be an attractive proposition for players that want to come in for a promotion push. Last season we lost out due to still being under EFL restrictions, all the teams around us strengthened and we ran out of stamina. We've got some money this season and hopefully this season we've identified some players that can get us into the top 2.
  15. Despite some forum users sharpening their knives with a couple of minutes to go, it ended up being a good day at the office 🙂 Yeah the performances still aren't there, but we're in the top six, 6pts off the autos and making noises about January transfers - a better transfer window than last January could see us do well this season. And Forest scored 2 and still lost at home. Good day all round 😛
  16. Bob forgot his anniversary. Bob's wife wasn't very happy. After much waiving of arms and shouting she went to bed demanding something that goes from 0-200 in under 5 seconds on the drive outside the house in the morning when she gets up. The next morning Bob gets up early and leaves for work. Bob's wife gets up a while later opens the curtains and sees a box on the drive. She gets dressed, goes downstairs and brings the package into the house. Inside she finds a set of scales. Bob hasn't been seen since last Friday...
  17. Well, I appreciate the response. If we could all keep the thread somewhat on track in future for those that 'dare to dream' it would be appreciated. A lot of the stuff you mention do seem like insurmountable problems - similar 'insurmountable' problems we faced when we first thought about going to the Moon. However, I'm 100% certain that NASA, SpaceX etc are aware of the problems and are coming up with solutions. I linked this page from the NASA website previously; https://www.nasa.gov/humans-in-space/humans-to-mars/ Personally, I think its only a matter of time until humans have a permanent presence on both the Moon and Mars. Yes there are huge challenges ahead and the timescales quoted may be optimistic, but I feel confident that I'll see it in my lifetime.
