  1. I was moaning about him in the match thread...so I watched him a bit to see if it was justified. So far he hasn't shown he has got a great first touch and he's kept making the wrong decisions, but that can change with a bit of confidence. What was worrying was his lack of intensity out of possession. Doesn't bust a gut to create space or get in behind, but even more noticeable was his defensive work. Seemed more 'for show' rather than any real effort to get the ball. All half-paced, shuffling across to cover, rather than sprinting to actually make a tackle. Didn't close down or get tight, didn't track back with any real desire. Hasn't done anything yet at a new club ...so I'd expect him to at least look a bit more keen to impress. Not a patch on NML so far. Early days, injury concerns etc etc...hopefully will come good when it matters soon.
  2. It was like the greatest story ever put to paper. Read aloud in a monotone, laboured way that makes it impossible to listen to. The narrative was really really awful. Some fancy writing with a date was the only way you knew the story had moved on to another world changing event with no change in feel, emotion or context to what I was actually watching. It just made me feel nothing.
  3. I saw the trailer for Napoleon at the cinema, looked awesome... Ridley Scott, Joaquin Phoenix, huge battles, amazing story...what could go wrong. Couple of months on and all the noise is that it's not a classic. So I was still hopeful but nervous.....and... Well, its pretty terrible IMO. Its like a few long scenes are there and instead of massively editing them down and adding you know errr various other scenes! so there is an actual cohesive story and some emotional attachment to any of the characters... they just ran out of time. It was just so flat and unengaging. Felt like they threw it out without any audience feedback or rewrites...or any kind of quality control. Take any scene and you could watch it for a few minutes and see the potential for a great film. But it was just a bit of a mess and instantly forgettable. Can't quite put my finger on why it was so soulless.... but it was a Mark Pembridge annoying 4/10
  4. We really haven't played that well... but it could be 4 or 5! Barks scores a quality goal... 3 brilliant goals today. Everything has gone our way today. We just need to build on this and be more on the front foot in games. Defensively we look solid, Adams has been awesome, we have gifted players going forward... just need to keep the ball a bit more and control games and we can bloody win this league.
  5. Not sure Bird had a clue where he was hooking it... if Collins had been there it was a nothing ball, with NML there it's a simple goal! Electric pace and anticipation. A thing of beauty.
  6. I'm pro-Warne...and agree totally with this assessment of the first half. And agree moments of magic are dragging us up the table rather than well worked team goals created by pressure. As you have said previously though. I think he will get us up. PS CBT off... he's been a total passenger first half tbf
  7. Complete Warneball performance so far. Not a lot of football to enjoy but we are winning! Extra man in midfield makes us look stronger defensively but even less likely to hold onto the ball as we are still going wide and long and giving up possession.
  8. CBT really does look disinterested in any defensive work at all at the moment, no intensity to his play.
  9. Bird picked a pocket and ran from the halfway line, speculative drive that the keeper misjudged the bounce. Exeter had most of the ball, look tidy but without threatening. Derby not keeping the ball but plenty of attacking options. Adams is so what we have been missing.
  10. Ha, very early days. However, he doesn't look overly inclined to work back/hard so far.
  11. Open game. Adams is a real workhouse. Lots to like about him. Bird and Hourihane doing very little so far.
  12. Adam's great tackle, NML releases Wilson who skins his man and squares it to Collins who tamely hits it straight at the keeper. Really should score.
  13. Rustin Cohle is probably my favourite character from any series. Just totally engrossing. Even though last time I watched it, Mrs Chester joined me for her 2nd viewing and commented how in the present day he's made to look all bedraggled, tattooed and scrawny looking...she can tell he's actually absolutely ripped under his shirt. 🙄 Tbf as I have mentioned on here before, I may have commented that Alexandria Daddario as Marty's girlfriend is absolutely smoking.
  14. Yep, totally agree. Felt like Fortitude with a few comic elements and slightly strange 'mystic' vibes. Watchable but not really sure what it is..
  15. Series 1? The first time I watched it I was a little confused to be honest. Watched it a further 3 times and love jt more each time, just absolute quality. This latest Jodie Foster series is watchable but not on the same planet. Workmate was absolutely raving about Love/Hate- which is weird as its not new! Having already got it on my watch list from here, I pushed it up the list! Loved series 1. It's like Kin but better I think. Is a bit like an Irish version of Trainspotting.
  16. At this level you have to take gambles, you aren't going to get the finished article. Not the lad's fault... Trying not to on Warne's case with this, but he does seem to favour the gamble that he takes being on players with a poor injury record or getting on a bit and falling out of favour at a decent level. Rather than it being promoting youth or dipping into lower leagues for emerging talent, unproven at our level.
  17. Take your point.... But the NHS is under strain not because of King Charles getting cancer....but the deluge of 'mental health' issues, parents wanting diagnosis instead of looking towards their own parenting first, people wanting compensation for car accidents, millions of missed appointments, the obesity crisis etc etc
  18. Thinks.... watching football all day, imparting my wisdom and directing football tactics like a full time Football Manager addict....dream job. Start looking at the job description and key skills ....realise they are going to need experience, and an all-singing and dancing presentation with facts and actual reasoning that can be scrutinised.... Decide I actually prefer the current job I hate and convince myself I'm doing good for society as a whole. Develop amnesia within hours and start posting he only got the job cos he's connected to Rotherham, that he's no clue what he's doing and imparting vague advice about signing youngsters who can run more.
  19. Really interesting Buatsi /Azeem fight. Buatsi looked snappier, always had a immediate reply to a Azeem attack. Every time the straight jab rocked him back he threw a combination to show he was bossing it. Azeem's corner just kept repeating for him to step up the workrate, pressure with body shots...just basically outwork him. Commentators were saying the same. It all seemed so simple that the only explanation he wasn't, .. was either he was fearful of getting tagged or he was too tired. Last couple of rounds showed he was just absolutely f***** and had nothing more to give and was on his limit. Don't think Buatsi looked like he could mix it with the really big boys on that showing. Great domestic fight, not an audition for a World level fight considering the titans around his weight.
  20. His performance will have the biggest impact on them. He knows the modern Tiktok audience!
  21. My kids are loving him. Unbelievably quick head movement. Looks a real prospect, I feel you may be waiting a while.
  22. 'It had to Ebou It had to be Ebou I wandered around, and I finally found The somebody who Could make me be true'
  23. Think only NML would have taken that chance with such ease. Need him fit! Battling win. Not pretty but Charlton created little. League looks better tonight. Adams looks exactly what we need. Bird played well. Collins stayed fit. Plenty on the bench and more to come. Never is like Football Manager is it... Charlton had Ladapo and May, we didn't have CBT. And...we won. Names don't win games. Momentum, heart, luck.... fate? All looks very different without that goal but then was perfect for our back 3 and they managed the game well. Big result. Pretty decent performance. Great day.
  24. True Detective series 1 Fargo series 1 Mr Bates.
