I'm fairly sure there were some similarly insipid performances under Frank's tenure.

    Just a timely reminder.
In his first season in charge Cloughie lead the team to finish one place lower than the previous season.
I'm glad the internet wasn't around then.

Norwich finished 14th in Daniel Farke's first season.  We're currently 15th. Unless we're on the brink of going down, any calls for Cocu's head at such an early stage are utterly stupid. We'd be starting all over again, yet again. Why haven't people learnt their ducking lesson?

TBH most level headed people ruled us out of top 6 after our shambolic market
Issue is lack of progress, the performances

Makes no difference whether we come 18th or 8th

Issue is we dont create enough chances, dont even look like scoring at times. Spine way too weak

No way should Cocu be going. But we need to sort out the desire in the team. Total lack of today.

I don’t think the signings are really the main issue here - it’s the lack of effort and application.
This should be a given but it clearly isn’t - it’s very difficult not to blame the manager for that.

We have a lot of lightweights nowadays compared to very decent hardworking players like Wieman and Russell who helped the central midfielders  immensely

Think we need to give Cocu time to bring in his own players.  Can't really judge him properly until then.  Plus he needs to adapt to a new league in a new country.  Needs time.  But totally get your point. We don't seem to be learning anything do we?

Who's saying these players aren't feeling pained by their actions? Shame is a very powerful emotion.
Ryan Conway's piece in today's The Athletic suggests that both players are extremely remorseful and have been left emotionally shattered by the proceedings. Bennett has a young daughter to support, and Lawrence has a grieving family – I'm sure that this will have been a the source of immense pain for them both.

They have been very very stupid, irresponsible and reckless. They have been punished according to law and again by the club
    they entered a guilty plea.
for me it’s end of story .. I might have felt differently if a bystander had been hurt or killed (but then the punishments would have been rightfully different )
why allow rehabilitation under someone else’s auspices? Assuming they are contrite it has to be right they as “our”players “we” give them the chance to validate their contrition and do penance ( crikey that sounds a bit churchy - but there’s solid logic in it)
A repeat offence would change my mind, but as of where we are now then as far as I am concerned it’s “right lads, get your heads down, graft, do your penance, learn, give back and come back a better person and player.

We were good enough to make it to the playoffs under Mel though. In virtually the entirety of GSEs time in charge we were nowhere near and playing awful football.
20th in the Prem, 18th, 14th, 19th, 12th, 10th, 3rd, 8th were our finishes under GSE. You are free to disagree, but whilst we haven't been promoted I do not feel the result has been the same under Mel who has given us 5th, 9th, 6th and 6th. We've been competing for promotion virtually every year under Mel and whilst I agree that spending isn't always the answer it's only a problem if Mel runs out of money or if the EFL decide it is a problem based on their arbitrary limits. If Mel has the money I'd rather see his style of running the club over 4-5 years of misery under GSE followed by maybe 1 good season.

It's my understanding that everything you've just mentioned has already taken place over the summer.
Big earners such as Johnson and Butterfield gone, replaced with modest earners like Shinnie (you'd assume) as well as youth players. I'd be very surprised if by the time accounts come out for this current season we are still on that brink.
