It should also be said that Collins looked level at worst for his disallowed goal and NML should have buried that header at 0-1, so although we were sloppy at both ends at times, IMO we deserved at least a draw.

The "Paul Warne you football is s**t" club are getting on my t*ts a bit now.

In that past it has been poor. He (we!) seems to have adapted. The last couple (and arguably some before) have been entertaining possession based creating a lot of chances. They didn't pay off in numbers today like they did against Northampton, Crewe defended (well at times) against a lot of pressure and nicked 2 relatively lucky goals.
Pleased to have another crack at them. I'll be there.

We absolutely dominated. Crewe did literally two things in an attacking sense and scored twice. Never seen such one sided stats and not won. 71% possession and 33 shots. Up the Rams.

I will be there tomorrow, supporting the Rams, as always, need a big win for confidence, 32 games left, who ever is there tomorrow, get behind the lads and drive them onto 3 points, let show the team we are behind them, it's in our DNA, Once A Ram Always A Ram.

Anyone suggesting Kellyman wouldn’t have got a chance here when he has performed so well given opportunities for Villa is just talking complete nonsense. If they’re good enough they will play. Is this what is going to happen when results improve on the pitch switch agenda to hammer Warne on the academy? People creating stories to fit a narrative.

It’s like the whole Hughes thing people used to hammer Rowett with - Hughes left according to many on here because Rowett is (in the eyes of some) anti-football. Hughes left because he had the opportunity to go to the premier league after we failed to do so time and again.

Kellyman left because our situation forced us to sell him (he reportedly didn’t want to go), gutting his brother has now gone but again makes sense for the family to have them in the same place.
In terms of recent youngsters who to some were good enough to be given a chance here:
Stretton - made of biscuits and has struggled to put a run of games together, when he has he hasn’t been prolific in league 2
Cybulski - non league and looking unlikely to make it as a league footballer
Jordan Brown - doing ok at Orient had good game at weekend but been on bench recently. Potentially still a player there but wouldn’t have warranted a place in our team since he’s gone.
Dajaune Brown will play when he’s ready and if he’s good enough will force his way in.

So in summary… we made one individual mistake (forsah) they capitalised and we (collins) missed a big wodge of chances to win it
    it happens … its football
keep saying it , get ourselves a better forward we’ll be flying
sadly we wont go too far with collins leading the line
No where near as bad as some make out

Having just watched the highlights back (which omit a couple of other half chances our profligate forward line failed to take) I genuinely don’t get those who are saying the overall performance wasn’t good enough. The result wasn’t good enough, but we created enough chances to win the game.

There was passing football, we did keep the ball on the floor at times and played it long at others, we did open them up both down the channels and through the middle, we failed to take the chances created. There’s no way, in the cold light of day, that performance is as bad as some make out. Their goal comes from us tarting around at the back and failing to clear it long, the one thing lots of people claim is the only thing this team does.
The result was not good enough, the performance should have seen us win.

    Slept on it ‘balanced’ thoughts
    positives:
    1) first home game of the season I feel like I can say we never looked like losing. We were so in control we could have played for 900 minutes and not conceded which, even against weak opposition, hasn’t felt true this season before.

    2) Nelson looks better and better as the weeks go on. We’ve got a fantastic CB at this level and a player I hope can make the step back up with us when we need it.

    3) Nyambe is such an intelligent footballer but with all the physical attributes Warne would want from a player. Been a pleasure watching him.

    4) Forsyth is Forsyth. How he keeps going with 0 knees and a resurgence at left back after 2 years at CB. When Cashin looks like the weakest part of a back 4 (and he isn’t weak at all) you know you probably have the best defence in the division…

    5) Fornah showed everything you’d want from someone in his position yesterday he mopped absolutely everything up. Was always there when they broke the lines. My dad who doesn’t really comment on players in the game turned and said ‘that big lad in the middle is tidying everything up’.

    6) Barkhuizen has the pace but also some technical ability to go with it which makes the attack feel like it’s a little bit less kick and rush.

    7) we did dominate the match. Which is what I’d asked to be seeing at home.

    Negatives
    1) no one in the final third showed any sort of real quality at all.

    2) don’t want to single anyone out for having a stinker but there was one player who’d have been frustrated with his performance I think. A bit sloppy.

    3) I’m all for keeping the ball and recycling it if nothing is on (I’ve called for this and want to see it) but on some occasions, as Warne would say, the players needed to be a bit braver and trust their team mates with a firm pass forwards to them in the middle. Trust them to control it and move it on even if they have a few players around them because that’s how we’ll pull teams apart who are happy for a point.

    4) the balance up top isn’t right. I’d rather see a focal point with NML and Bark either side of them with an actual creator playing behind them rather than having 2 strikers.

The last point which is neither positive or negative is that we held a team off at arms length who would have snapped your hand off for a point. Can we do this firstly away from home? Can we do this against a Barnsley or a Bolton etc?

    What’s the reality?
We’ve had a less than spectacular start to the season? Results have been mixed? Performances have largely been poor? Who has said this is not the case?
Everyone can see the reality. Some people are missing the fact that it’s a 46 game season. Absolutely nothing has been won or lost and nothing has been decided. Portsmouth are certainly not champions and we are certainly not doomed.
Everyone wants better results, better performances and better players, but we are where we are and this will take time.

I am not in anyway defending Pearce but I'd be interested to know how many of the Johnny big b*ll*cks on here, with expert financial acumen, and ability to be a ceo, would have given Mel Morris what for, and absolutely disobeyed him and the majority of his decisions.
My guess would be, approximately, zero. Its easy to talk a good game on a Internet chat room, it's another when everything rests on your decisions, and you will actually be proven right or wrong instead of dealing in hypetheticals

Thameram reacted to CornwallRam in At least we still have a club.......yeah but...
David Clowes saved our club, but we're still not free of the restrictions caused by administration. We are currently an artificially reduced club. Our turnover, fanbase and history should feed into increased revenue with sponsorship deals and TV appearances. If we'd just been relegated, we would be able, given the right management, to dominate this league.
The problem is that we had 5 players, very few academy players capable of stepping up and serious restrictions on our finances and recruitment.
Thanks to hard work and commitment from David Clowes, Liam Rosenior and Paul Warne, we are now at a point where we are a 'normal' club again. We have a full squad and the academy has been strengthen. But don't be fooled. We're still not a big Championship club about to boss our way out of League 1.
The calls for passing football are, IMO, naive. You only get promoted by playing passing football if you have a squad full of high quality players that are simply too good for the rest of the division. The restrictions which we've been under have meant that the rebuild has had to be cheap. Quality players aren't cheap. The only way this squad is getting promoted is with spirit, fitness, organisation and pragmatic football. It doesn't matter if we replace Warne tomorrow - trying to pass our way out of this division with this squad would be a disaster.
I'd also argue that Warne hasn't had any quality academy players to include, so criticising him for not playing them is difficult to justify.
At this point we need a pragmatic manager. If we replace Warne it will be with someone similar. The restrictions have forced us to build the squad this way and it is logical to give this type of squad this season and next to try for promotion. If that fails, then it will be time to review and maybe bring in a manager who will rebuild with expensive passing players and academy products. By that time the restrictions will be long gone and the size of our club should enable us to be more dominant in the transfer market.

Second best all first half, grew into it nearer the end and got a penalty after the ball was in the net, and after another stonewall penalty. Then they get a penalty, looked on the edge of the box but could’ve been inside. Second half starts, Bradley (who was playing really well) drops (another) clanger leading to Wildsmith to get desperate and get sent off (rightly or wrongly) but the referee took a good 40 seconds to make a decision and the linesman didn’t flag it. Then we’re away to Bolton who will be top 2 with 10 men. We defended really well, Nelson in particular but then they get a fluke own goal that loops in. We get pegged back and have a few chances near the end. Wasn’t a great watch but no where near worth the meltdown in my opinion

We're in for a player, the media have not picked up on it, he signs.
We're not in for a player, the media are chucking names into a hat for clicks.
We're not in for a player, the media have been given a tip off though by their agent to drum up interest.
We were in for a player, the club having spoke to the player and agent, decided the deal wasn't for them.
We were in for a player, having spoke to the club, decided it wasn't for them and went elsewhere.
Now here's where things get more tricky and we have more scenarios to throw out there.
The player chose X club instead either because
    1. Better money
    2. Longer deal
    3. Location
    4. Club Ambitions
    5. Facilities
    6. Mates
    7. Better connection to the manager
    8. Social media interactions
    9. Heard we like to sing about willy size
Think that just about covers all possibilities, so pick which one fits the narrative you choose to believe as chances are we will never know the truth. Even managers could bend the truth at times to fit their own narrative that they want out there. Be it to save face or push the owner for more money.
The key for sanity here is don't put too many emotions into a transfer rumour, this allows you to spend more time with loved ones and better quality of sleep.

    What would we learn?
Fixating on these games is meaningless when Cambridge are top and Stevenage are in the top six.
Warne will earn his wage by what he and the team does in the next 42 games, not two.
Whatever happens in the next two, these early results underline how important it is to stay calm.
