To me it’s simple- all these four games are winnable and any would-be promotion team at this stage of the season needs to be winning them.

Warne has said on numerous occasions that we can’t waste a half of football. I think this will be key against Wycombe. Tempo. They will slow everything down, throws, free kicks, injuries etc. we are awful when we fall into that trap (Northampton). So we need to play the game at speed. That starts with Wildsmith imo.

The most depressing thing about days like today is not the performance which was awful but the fans reaction to it.
Promotion is won over a season. At Bristol we looked like a promotion team. This day we looked bottom half. That’s why overreacting to either game is ridiculous. But the “pitchforks out” reaction after every game we lose is just soooo tedious and it’s always the same people.

So, I was at the game and have now watched the highlights.
A thoroughly entertaining game that I struggle to see how any Rams fans can’t have enjoyed. I’m not suggesting it’s a new dawn but I do wonder where some of the PW critics are this morning.
We got lucky but, based on every measure (quality of football, chances created, shots, shots on target, possession, saves the respective goalkeepers had to make etc.) it’s difficult to understand how anyone could argue it wasn’t a fair result.
Regarding the sending off, the first yellow seemed very harsh (I don’t think it was deliberate and there wasn’t much he could about it) and the second was absolutely a dive by Hourihane. Having said that, it’s debatable as to whether they should have had a player sent off for bringing down Gayle when he was through on goal. Perhaps it was only a yellow because Gayle still had a lot to do and there was another defender not too far away (but not between Gayle and the goal).

Our first goal might have been ruled out if we had VAR and so may the penalty. Gayle definitely hand balled it. You could argue that the contact from the keeper came first (and may have caused the hand ball) but I’m not convinced. Having said all of that, there is no need to feel too sheepish (no pun intended) as I’m sure all of the other contenders have had their fair share of lucky breaks throughout the season.
I don’t think NML had his best game, Adams was immense (yet again) and Barks had IMO one of his best games even though he didn’t score or provide an assist. Overall a good performance by everyone. Bradly could have prevented their goal but, that apart, he had another good game.
Onto Saturday. It’s not quite a season defining game (and therefore not quite a must win game) but defeat would be quite damaging. COYR.

10 games remaining, only way to make sure is to win all 10!
I think we should be aiming for that and nothing less.
We have got nothing to fear in this league and with out our own downfalls we would be in a pretty position…
We have got players like ward to step up, CBT can have a big few months, players back from injury.. so it’s all positive!
Lets get behind the lads and make us the 12th man..

    Can't see it personally....
Back 3 spread wide with Adams covering if back 3 are dragged too wide.
Ward and Sibley pushing up and crossing - even over lapping if we get on top.
Could potentially be very attacking if we do it properly.
Also could be very negative if not.

Do you so know little about football that if someone points out that Sibley is not a full back, and hence we are not playing with 5 at the back, that you post a sarcastic response that the poster thinks of themselves as some sort of tactical genius.
In the same way that posters continually moan about Warne's press conference, there are also people who think 3 cbs equals a highly defensive 5 at the back.
As was mentiond earlier in this thread, thess debates are so tiresome and moronic.
Good debates are around the style of play, which system suits our players the best, do we have the right players, is the manager improving the players etc.
"Why does Warne say the opposition are good" and "why are playing 5 across the back vs this team" is just really boring.
Have we ever played 5 at the back this season? We have either played 2 cbs and 2 full backs, or we play 3 cbs with 2 high wing backs.

It was a poor team he picked but alot of blame is on the players how many times have they given the big lads are hurting and angry speech and then performed the same in the next game we have no true warriors too dig deep when it matters the only time this season we've shown any balls is Oxford away

Well watched it on rtv as away on holiday , narrow loss away from home against an in form promotion rival with both sides guilty of giving the ball away cheaply and poor decision making or final ball in attack , the game was edged by one bit of quality in theyre goal , very often in these games it’s us with a bit of quality, disappointed but not disheartened,
angie is right though , these match threads are just warne out posting areas and perhaps mods need to look at that , im certainly finding that rather than devouring every post in the match day thread as I used to im getting a couple of lines into most and just scrolling on to the next , it’s the same old over and over again and all to often very little to do with the game the topic is supposed to be about but just a list of past and future reasons the manager in posters minds is not acceptable for derby county ,
I know one thing for sure , if I was warne and read this forum I would be thinking duck this club ,im off 🤷🏻‍♂️

Warne will inevitably get pelters for formation etc etc but the fact of it is we couldn't string 2 passes together for the majority of that game, we were shocking in possession that's on the players.

He needs to show we can play a good all round game against decent opposition.
