Ditto. They absolutely battered us. Had about 300 away fans. Good day out tho - think we took 30,000 didn't we?

Because Hourihane is absolutely not upper Champ material IMO. He's prob our most disappointing signing overall. Not saying he's rubbish but I don't see any Prem/upper Champ pedigree at all. Feels like a bang average lower Champ player to me - fine for where we're at but don't see his 'pedigree' on the pitch at all. Prob a good trainer / 'parched' as Peter Crouch would say.

That makes sense. Never seen a less engaged person in the media eye for many a year. Either utterly thick or totally disinterested was my take - 70/30 I'd say. Hope he's ok on the pitch 'cos off it... dull, dim and privileged. FFS he's being paid to do a job most of us would love - don't care about his injury problems or that he's been loaned out - he's got an amazing job and the boy has no idea how lucky he is. His attitude in that interview stinks and he couldn't look less of a PW player. Smacks of 'heard this lads good, get him in cos you've ran out of options' rather than 'we need the right characters in the dressing room'.
Welcome to Derby? If the lad showed a smattering of gratitude I'd be behind him but nah, doesn't want to be here. The interview was obvs cut short, was 100% hard work and it won't work out unless he's absolute quality (which he isn't).

It's not all bad though, at least he smiled when the engineered and mandatory question / propaganda exercise surrounding Warne came up, so clearly he's ripe for indoctrination.

Who's doubting him? It's possible to say his interview was dour and simultaneously support him and rate highly his potential as a signing.

Ah right, get you. I thought you meant the whole thing. Yeah I'm sure DC prefers to stay out of the limelight, I get that. But there should be a conduit for information to get from the fans to the owner. Perhaps he'll watch it back on RamsTV? #COYR

Wasn't really saying we have one - was just doing my usual 'Kinky was over-rated' thing! 😉
However, if pressed I'd say I'm most disappointed by Hourihane. Doesn't demonstrate much ex-Premiership player quality for me. I just don't see anything there that stands out - his set-pieces are pretty good but other than that... Not slating him as such, just surprised at his career given what we see.
I'd also add - I love a flair player. Loved Wanchope, Ace, Baiano and Eranio who, for us, could be regarded as a flair player. And a playmaker. And a tactical genius. Anyway, I must stop being that old bloke that goes on about players from the past where half the forum sigh at oldies going on about the past.

Kinkaldze. The definition of 'luxury player'. You might get away with one Kinky in a squad but you need legs around him. Always has been the case, always will be.
Asanovic, who was also a luxury player (but far better than Kinky IMO), was at his best when DPFG and Carsley were running around after him. It's about balance. Which is something a few posters here don't have...
It's too early to be slating PW. We're 6 games in with a tight budget, lots of new players and they need a bedding-in period. However, if we don't see some improvements in the way we're playing by Xmas then perhaps we can start to be a bit more vocal about it.
    Balance ya see...

Come on chaps. I’m with @Millenniumram here. It’s a football forum, not the Samaritans. If you can’t have an online pop at one of your players after they have made 3 bad mistakes in 3 games when can you?
This forum is losing its sense of humour. I blame Paul Warne.

The geek in me can't help but wonder if this poll allowed multiple votes over time and then plot the sentiment against games. I imagine the view is quite different after a couple of wins and if we lose a few then it'd be back to 'Warne out'... Fickle much? 😉

It all comes down to ambition v strategy and which to favour.
I think we would all love to see us strategically bringing in young players with potential to grow, but honestly is it really compatible with where we are as a club?
We are one of the biggest clubs in League One, let’s not forget. How much is that level of expectation and the need to show ambition weighing on us?
We seem to be recruiting players based on the idea that it will make a statement of intent, show ambition, get people talking, and most crucially, put bums on seats.
In terms of squad building and looking to the future, we probably shouldn’t have signed Hourihane, Barkhuizen, Smith, Chester, Davies, Stearman and McGoldrick last season and in many ways we could and should have signed alternatives to Nelson, Bradley, Elder, Washington, Waghorn and so on this season if we were looking to the future.
We have built the current squad on reputation and experience, not profile and potential. I don’t think style of play is a factor. We haven’t really excelled in any style as yet, only shown flashes of potential.
However it’s like a double edged sword. On one hand, fans will say we need pedigree and experience and we are Derby County and we shouldn’t settle for being the next Exeter City. On the other hand, fans will say we want to see young players with power and pace and to see the team grow together.
When you really think about it, in the position we are in, we can’t really win. If say last summer we had filled the squad with players similar to Oduroh and said trust the process, there would have been uproar after 15 games because ultimately the expectation is still there irrespective of the strategy.

He will score just as many goals as Didzy did I think. So there is the answer to how we replace Didzys goals. Works really hard too

But is he the right kind of character to hoof away the ball then foul someone as the other team slice through our defence?
