I'm pretty sure the point deduction is only carried forward to next season if you're relegated on merit. Otherwise it's applied this season, regardless of where you finish and how it impacts the final standings.

I don't understand why the WBA player did it, the game was won so no advantage to be gained.

no point anyway,  remember, I think robbie Fowler it was who had a penalty awarded because of a challenge from David seaman  , ref gave a penalty but Fowler told the ref he had tripped himself up and it wasn't a foul, ref being a proper bamford refused to accept his error and awarded the penalty anyway.

If Cocu had been given a full pre-season.
If he hadn't walked into a poor selection of pre-season games.
If he wasnt given Kieran Dowell as his replacement for Mason Mount.
If Rooney had been allowed to join from the beginning of the season.
If Waghorn had converted his 2 missed penalties.
If Keogh hadn't snapped his leg and been sacked.
If Lawrence and Bennett hadn't been pantomime villains for a few weeks.
If Bielik hadn't done his ACL.
If we had signed the winger as promised, rather than settling for the lad from Bristol City whose name escapes me.
If the investment had have gone through successfully 1st Jan as he thought and he was given the cash to spend as he had expected.
If the players hadnt been paid late on one occasion.
If the club hadnt been charged by the EFL for various financial reasons leaving a cloud of uncertainty around.....
What could Cocu have achieved this season?
I really flipping hope Cocu is here next season and far beyond and i hope we are able to allow him to bring a few of his players in to add to what we have got.
The young lads, Buchanan, Whittaker, Sibley, Knight and Bird will be learning so much this season, even Bogle doesnt turn 20 until next week. These lads have gone from playing for the u18s/23s to actually challenging for a playoff place.
I'm excited for next season, regardless off what happens in the next 4(or 7) games.

thing is what deterrent is there? Bamford received a pathetic 2 game ban for his incident.
if they implement a system that sees incremental bans,  say 6 games for first offence, 20 for second,  a whole season for 3rd and a lifetime ban for 4th then maybe players might think twice.

I don't think the ref is to blame, its the WBA player for deception, his season should be over now as should be banned for double the games sibley would have been.

As I have meandered through life I have come to realise that even if you disagree with people, most of  us are straight and want to do the right thing. We all have our grey areas and fuzzy bits about the edges but in essence we are sound and fair minded
At the same time there is a contingent in every walk of life who just don’t care. They haven’t an ounce of that old fashioned attribute; honour. They also think that those of us who do are somehow weaker. Luckily they are in the minority.
lordy lordy I sound pompous 🤣. Can’t help it, probably am. Que sera sera

Good, the ref made a massive error but the West Brom player cheated and should be punished for it. I would make them both watch Forrest home and away for a season that would be a suitable punishment.
but seriously the West Brom player should get disciplined for cheating

I don't see any other outcome than ther being significant excess deaths over a longer term period myself.
I wonder how those, including those on this very thread that were claiming it was a big fuss about nothng feel about it now, do they stand by their view? I know one poster who was very vocal it wasn't seems to have been fairly absent since it escalated, i hope thats just because they couldnt argue their case anymore and nothing more.
I think we could still be analysing figures in several years time on this.
