Been sat behind a desk most the day with my stomach in knots with nerves
god knows what I’m going to be like tomorrow....Mrs knows what a big deal this is for me so is kindly taking herself and the eldest out leaving me with the 2 yo lad
hes Going to have to face the harsh reality of being a Derby fan in Nottingham some day so it may as well start tomorrow
    We’re in this together

    COYR!!!!

You say that this squad is more than enough.
Therefore I think that you mean that they "have played like a shower" rather than "they are a shower".
And if you think that they are good enough, then although shouting at them is of course the sort of thing that we might do at the pub, and which we nearly all do sporadically when annoyed at the ground (if we're honest) ...
... with things riding on a single game, subject to the vagaries of luck ... helping the players to have the highest levels of confidence ... and making them feel like they're the best thing since sliced bread ... is probably more likely to increase their chances of winning.
(Not always the case - and not always the best approach - but probably, for the last game, it Weill be. I did wonder if booing might be better, but I have been persuaded that it would not.)
(I'm not fully convinced yet that offering them an extra £10 grand each might not be the most effective approach.)
And, if there are any players that will react to a rollicking, let Rooney do that, ideally in private.
I cannot make it to the ground on Saturday, but if you do, I hope that when you finally get the chance to enjoy that long-forgotten feeling of being surrounded by fans (albeit socially distanced), that you will end up cheering with everyone else.
PS. I was listening to some comedienne the other day saying that she told herself that she would absolutely not courtesy to the Queen at a Royal Variety performance, or whatever, but when it came to it, she bobbed the deepest courtesy.
It made me think of you (in a good way) - that it's great to hear your passion and I can see your disappointment!
Ihope that, in the moment, among the fans, you'd probably have much more fun cheering, and find yourself (almost automatically) doing so.
I don't expect you to agree - but maybe you won't disagree either.

Entirely agree. Perhaps the op made a mistake ? but it has all the feel of calling for a baying mob. It’s a psychology that is primitive and to me destructive. If you’re apprehensive, bullied, under the cosh you will fight but never with the same verve that inspiration and encouragement gives you.

And become a beggar amongst beggars. This is not Mels doing. If you can’t see the warped structure that lead to this over the last 15-20 years then I think you lack insight and logic. Anything Mel has done he has payed for in full. Finger pointing at the man man who’s used his piggy bank ( not very well) to try and realise some ambition is churlish. Ok so it didn’t work and the piggy bank is empty but all you bought is a ticket to a game. Mel has probably spent 20% of his net worth. He’s bailing out, I don’t blame him. He tried manfully

Wrong. We are in this position like many other championship clubs because the EFL, The premier League, Sky, BT and others have so skewed the fundamental business, wages and fiscal rules of this sporting contest that it was bound to happen.

Pardon me @Anon, but I think the title sends out entirely the wrong message and I suspect is NOT the view of the vast majority of posters/fans on this Forum. Nor is it in the spirit of football.

I'm with you @sage. I was away for the B'ham game but will be down there with you this time. I'd encourage as many of us to join @Sage as possible. Just let me know the time and place. We can make a real difference and that is what support is all about. Cometh the hour cometh the men...

PS. Mods, can we change the title of this to "Meet and greet pre-Sheff Weds to support the Club"?

I don’t think cheering or booing will make a difference to how they perform. However, I have never ever booed a Derby player or Manager and never will and really don’t see what you aim to achieve by doing so before probably our most important game for decades....aimed at the original poster...

So just to make it clear, you want to boo and verbally abuse the players before a game we probably need to win to stay in this division?
Not entirely sure what you are Kingpin of.

I really dislike the tone of your posts. Finger pointing, sneering and full of jibes. We haven’t done well, no one can deny it but I reckon these young men are like most young men. They like sport and competition, they like to win they play hard. Sure they have been beaten, out smarted, made mistakes too often, but the way you damn the team you claim to support undermines them. Voicing displeasure is one thing, kicking your own men when they are on the floor is as tawdry and unhelpful as it is cowardly.

They have been out smarted and out played, they have made too many mistakes, and yes they should have done better with the group skill set they have:  but I am a supporter of this club. When the team is facing a huge battle on the last day of the season the one thing I would never do is question their integrity. You mess up at work .. you know you messed up .. the results of your failings are visible but you have a chance to put it right right ? And your boss and colleagues .. are jeering at you as you walk through the door saying your a loser, sticking leg out to trip you up by the door and saying don’t care and haven’t tried ?  .. thank heavens I don’t work anywhere near you !

A very considered and timely post @Ken Tram In the bubble of lockdown it's sometimes easy to lose a bit of perspective. These kinds of thread are therefore a very welcome 'balancing of the scales', from my perspective at least.

I have a beautiful son too, every day I fight on because of him.
You are right about people not talking about it. I am finding with work that people dont really understand what we are going through, to some people it isnt a real person who has passed away, to you its everything. You have spent x amount of times planning for it, talking about, we even bought a house on the back of it. It's a big deal. Like you, we will remember the life of little Oliver in our way whenever we can.
Anyway back to footy. Get us that vital win please Wayne.

At this point I can’t decide who I prefer. This says so much about how Kelle has improved and gained confidence. He worried us all sick when we last saw a match in person. The catching, or lack of it, was scary. He’s come through that and is looking like a sound keeper now.

it can’t be easy if you’re 20 something and you have a couple of nightmares in front of 25k fans of any stripe. I think it is a credit to his character that he’s put that demon back under the bed. ..... ROOOOOOOOOSSSS ! ?
