It’s a huge topic and there will be many pages devoted to it all over the place. One thought (sorry this is off topic ) I honestly think there’s some mileage to be had in making loans dependant on PL clubs paying all wages and accepting all risks. After all its training their players, why should money go back to the PL when the EFL clubs are effectively providing training for nothing ?

Back to Joe. Everyone makes mistakes but Joe makes fewer than most and has proved to be an excellent keeper. Hope he stays. He’s not Shilton or Poom but he’s earned his No 1 spot to my mind.

Wildsmith looked like he proper despised Warne as Warne leapt into his arms to give him a big cuddle on Saturday. Jesus wept.

This Nixon, yes, that bastion of truth, taking the comment from the forum last night about nothing til after the season and running with it as he's one, if not, the best player we have who's not under contract next season.

I guess this had been coming, with the rumours earlier in the season that he'd fallen out with Warne.
Was the rift because Wildsmith had already rejected a contract offer from the club?
Or maybe he was dropped during the contract negotiations as a way of sending a message that you're not worth the money you're asking for.
I don't expect to hear anymore on this until the season's over and the club may potentially make an improved contract offer based on his performances at the end of the season

He made a terrible mistake on Tuesday but I like Wildsmith. Hopefully he won't make another mistake in the run in. We desperately needed a good keeper when he joined and I think he has been one of the best additions to the squad.

If you think back to that Chorley FA cup game, where we had to put out the academy lads against non-league defenders, the big issue was our lack of physicality.  We just got out-muscled and couldn't let out superior technical skills shine.  When you watch Brown play against teams at this level, you see none of that, he looks big and strong and his better movement and technique is shining though.   Obviously that doesn't guarantee he'd be good enough at higher levels, but it's certainly a good start.

I have some Man United in my blood but never liked Pogba even when he was there 1st time round before the mega money. Bling, loud mouth, arrogant - For whatever reason there is always a player you don’t like regardless of their skill.
Pogba is mine ( Sheehan joined the list on Saturday 🤣) Not that any of them are quaking in their boots !

Weird one as anabolic steroids don't just vanish out of your system. If you use them and are subject to any kind of rigorous testing, you are almost certain to be caught. Suspect the club have tried to cheat his rehab time and this is the net result of it.

Been injured for much of the last 2 years.

But we can still laugh because man utd paid 86m to bring him back in 2017 and their subsequent trophy glut has amounted to 1 fa cup and a Europa League.
Suspect they might have hoped for more....

Peterborough have by far the easiest run in. Still think it will go to the last day - it's the Derby way !!!

Mathematically, Bolton winning every game would take them to 95 points, so 96 absolutely guarantees it. That's 6 wins. It's possible, but I don't think we'll get that many.
Realistically, even if you round Bolton, Barnsley and Posh's PPG rate up to 1.9, which is close to all their averages over the course of the season, it would be Bolton 87, Barnsley and Posh 85. Since New Year's day, Barnsley have had a PPG of 2.0, Posh 1.7 and Bolton 1.42. At this rate, it would end up with Barnsley on 87, Posh and Bolton on 84. I'd say based on overall form and more recent form, 88 points would be enough. There are still a number of key games which will also eliminate teams for us. Bolton play Pompey, Posh and Stevenage. Peterborough play Oxford and Bolton. Barnsley play Stevenage, Portsmouth and Blackpool.
For us to get 88 points, we'd need 10 points from 7 games, allowing us to lose up to 3 games. I think we will get more than 10 points from the fixtures we have left, and I'm hoping that'll be enough.

Mathematically it will be higher. Oxford play Stevenage and Lincoln, so it’s impossible for them all to reach their maximum. There will be plenty of other fixtures that reduce the maximums, it’ll just take some working out.
Personally, I think today guarantees us to 4 at least. Four points to Bolton, Posh & Barnsley have games in hand but can only be within 4 points if they win. It’ll take at least two games to catch us up, especially with our goal difference. There’s still key games against each other to come, I can’t see all 3 doing enough to catch us at the same time now.

That was massive today. Wildsmith, Nelson and Cashin all immense but special mention to Foz. What a guy.
Also huge credit to Warne. I think all his subs, whether forced or not, made a difference. It would have been easy to replace Gayle with Waggy but it was crucial to get the extra body in midfield and stop Bolton from dominating. The changes at half time all worked. Wilson was a threat all half, Tommo brought loads of energy and possession, Waggy is still getting back to fitness but good to be able to bring on a striker and he played his part. And how about Elder’s first touch?
I’ve seen a lot of criticism of Hourihane and today wasn’t his best game - and he wasn’t suited to playing in a midfield 2 against Bolton’s midfield. He will make contributions over the rest of the season though, the whole squad will. I really hope CBT gets a chance soon and shows what he’s made of.
I would say I enjoyed it today but I really didn’t! I was tense as hell but I really enjoyed the result and the table looks very healthy indeed. Also, the atmosphere was amazing - both sets of fans did their clubs proud. Was very satisfying to shut them up though, didn’t hear a peep out of them after we scored.

Liam Thompson was immense when he came on. We're gonna need everyone in these last few games and i believe the players know it and will give it their all. Warne has built a squad who seem to want to work together.
Its happening, The Rams are going up!
