richgee1976 reacted to Nuwtfly in Paul Warne
The football this season has been tough to watch, even when winning. There's definitely cause for concern when thinking about how we're going to do if we go up.
But if Paul Warne manages to get us promoted with a squad that has been plagued with injuries all season whilst having next to no money to spend, then he will have more than earned the right to take us into next season.
He'll also have earned the chance to spend some money and mould this squad into what he wants.
Quite what that might, in theory, look like worries me slightly, based on what we've seen this season. But that's just an assumption. Maybe with some money to spend, Warne can overhaul the playing staff and get us playing some nicer stuff? We'll see.
The bigger question will then be: what money has he got to work with?
The club and ownership will need to back him if he's going to have a decent chance.

It's crap, cringey and completely unnecessary.
That is all.

richgee1976 reacted to Inverurie Ram in Paul Warne
The Rams with the Warne & his side
Behind the hatred, there lies
A murderous desire for love
How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me?
How can they hear me say those words
Still they don't believe me?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever believe me?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever, they ever believe me?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
The Rams with the Warne & his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A plundering desire for l-l-love
How can they see the love in our eyes
And still they don't believe us?
And after all this time
They don't want to believe us
And if they don't believe us now
Will they ever believe us?
And when you want to live
How do you start?
Where do you go?
Who do you need to know?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Enjoy the ride. 🐏
Love David Clowes 🐏
Love Paul Warne 🐏
Love Derby County 🐏

What a great post and may I ask what brain cell number 2 is up to this evening.

richgee1976 reacted to Jourdan in Paul Warne
For me, Warne is absolutely right in his messaging.
We are in a good position but nothing is won and so much can change in 1-2 games, never mind 9.
He would be foolish to over-promise at this point. It’s a tight, topsy turvy race with five teams battling for two places. We’re not 10 points clear, after all.
I think Warne is right to encourage the fans to unite behind the team, fill the ground, and enjoy the ride rather than brace ourselves for potential failure and consume ourselves with the hang ups surrounding the manager.

richgee1976 reacted to Kernow in We can't finish lower than...
We're 12 points ahead of Oxford in 7th, same games played. Although mathematically possible of course, there's no realistic way they finish above us with only 10 games to play. Making up over a point a game on any side near the top of the table is a tough ask, especially when you don't play them again this season.
Hopefully that gives us the confidence to throw everything at going for 2nd place. We don't really need to look over our shoulder, and it makes little difference whether we finish 3rd or 6th. Let's go for it.

richgee1976 reacted to Ken Tram in Independent Directors on Supporters' Board at DCFC
I reckon that if an applicant for the Supporters Board said that they have wide approval from this forum, then it might be seen positively during the application process.
I think it would be great if a well-respected poster ended up on the Supporters Board because it would be a brilliant channel between a significant group of fans and the club.

richgee1976 reacted to oodledoodle in Eiran Cashin - new contract to 2027
You're right. Him signing a 3 year contract is awful news. Terrible news. He clearly doesn't want to play in league one, despite signing a 3 year deal with a league one side.
How can you read news like this and conclude "well that's him gone then". Absolutely incredible stuff. Honestly.

richgee1976 reacted to MaltRam in Max Bird - flew the coop to Bristol City, loaned to us to end of season
Best midfielder at the club. Leaving as won't sign a new contract. Good fee. Keep the player for the rest of the season.
He came through the ranks, stood by us when we were on our arse, does his best, good egg arond the place, getting a bigger wage in a higher division, club doesn't lose out.
Max Bird comes out well, Derby County come out well.
Moaners, please shush. I'm embarrassed by you.

f*** me give the kid a bit of respect
Stuck by the club when it was properly properly s***, could have done a Buchanon or a Byrne but didnt
Time for him to move on.. No problem with that, he's earned a move. Going to see out the season so that he doesn't leave the club in a tougher spot for the rest of the season and gives some money and time for Clowes to get him replaced, good on him. Best of luck and hope he gets a big pay rise!

richgee1976 reacted to IlsonDerby in Max Bird - flew the coop to Bristol City, loaned to us to end of season
He hasn’t forced a move? He’s told them he won’t sign a new deal and Clowes has accepted a deal he believes to be good value which is probably just under tribunal fee (a discount for it not being a drawn out affair?).
Some derby fans are such babies.
‘turned his back on us’ ‘forced a move’ ‘don’t come back’

richgee1976 reacted to Rich84 in Michael Smith
Isn't TJJ the option, more athletic, better touch? Just not 100% fit yet, and when Waghorn and Washington are fit, aren't they different?
And if Collins got injured we would need a replacement, or rotate to keep them both fresh, although I believe Smith is more of a brute and better in the air to be able to Bully the defenders anyway.

richgee1976 reacted to RamFan13 in Michael Smith
He got 18 goals 7 assists last season in league 1, he’ll scores goals. Isn’t that what we need???

richgee1976 reacted to RamsFan10 in Corey Blackett-Taylor - Signed on Loan/Permanent in Summer
I know this has been said by many today but:
1 - this is a brilliant signing on paper, and I can’t wait to watch CBT + NML on each wing
2 - first transfer fee since 2020? It’s nice to know we’re a normal football club again.

richgee1976 reacted to Ghost of Clough in Corey Blackett-Taylor - Signed on Loan/Permanent in Summer
Blackett-Taylor, Mendez-Laing and Barkhuizen all rotating and chipping in with goals and assists will be a game changer for us in this 2nd half of the season. It allows us to keep them all fresh and shouldn't have big dips in form (which often comes from fatigue). We also have Wilson terrifying full backs. Good options to have.

You could make the same argument about getting bummed and heroin, but I shan't be trying them either.

richgee1976 reacted to Jourdan in Corey Blackett-Taylor - Signed on Loan/Permanent in Summer
Any player who is a top player at League 1 level will be frustrating. You could even say the same for many quality players in the Championship.
Some of our best attacking players over recent years - Wilson, Mount, Russell, Ward, Ince, Martin, Vydra, Lawrence - fall into that bracket for various reasons.
Mendez-Laing and Wilson have days when they are incredibly frustrating too and nothing comes off, let’s not forget, but you do notice when they are in the team and when they are not.
Many looked back at January last season and said why didn’t we make more of an effort to strengthen the squad and avoid burnout. Many looked at the summer and said why weren’t we more proactive in nailing down our targets.
It seems to me the club are trying to learn lessons. CBT is clearly a long term target and someone we have been tracking for 6 months at the very least, so it’s not a snap judgement either.
A good League 1 player that is in demand would ordinarily cost anywhere from £1 million to as much as £5 million. In exceptional cases, like a really prolific forward, even more.
£500,000 may seem a lot based on the restrictions we have become accustomed to, but in real terms, it’s small fry if you want to get a player who is performing well at this level and has the potential to scale up into the Championship.
