Speaking of dark arts though, was getting mighty tired of one of the Reading players (Azeez, I think) standing really close on Cashin's throw-ins - anyone know the rules on this?
"Opposing players may not approach closer than 2 m (2.2 yd) to the point on the touch-line from which the throw-in is to be taken. "
Bielsa used this tactic when taking Leeds up.
IMHO more managers should use it, especially in an opponent's half - about 4 out of 5 throw-ins go back to the thrower-in to hoof clear, having a man on them stops that and piles on the pressure.

Cracking entertainment tonight, and a fantastic atmosphere with a truly ring-wrenching last ten minutes.
How will Adam’s be playing in a 3pm kick off on Saturday as he is observing Ramadan?

As the missus said in the first half "I've missed the banter" when the Stevenage fans were giving it some in the first half, and the Home fans responded when Evans managed to haul himself out of his chair.
Dire game, but a great 3 points.

If you look at the Burton player who comes away with the ball - he's facing and running towards (broadly) the west stand. As soon as he gets it Hugill is off in another direction - more towards the centre spot.
Elder, as the last man, is following the trajectory of the man with the ball and looking to cover that area, not realising at that stage that Hugill is running on his blind side and approaching his territory. As the ball is being played, he has to change direction, change his body shape, and try to get across to the ball. Plenty of times he might have managed that, but for two things.
When the ball was played to Hugill, he dummied Elder by making out he was going to stop and collect the ball, Elder went to stop and slipped a bit when he realised the dummy. Good play by Hugill all round

One of my favourite parts of the game was when Cashin was 'proposed' by fellow team mates to start the post-match bounce.

There's Norway we will lose this one.
If we do there'll be Wales of despair.

Mendez Laing had a pretty good game, but didn’t think much of his goal celebration, looked like he was giving it the old ‘Ring Me’ sign.

From Shrewsbury Forum:
'The pitch drains well, only in doubt if we get heavy rain in the morning / mid day. Todays rain wont be an issue, it's looking like less rain tomorrow.'
'Think the pitch will be fine but for those travelling in on Saturday keep an eye on the travel news for flood issues, trains into Shrewsbury from Wolverhampton and Cardiff badly affected by flooding today and some Shrewsbury town centre car parks look likely to be closed on Saturday'

Thought she was a good ref, loved it when she booked their player for asking her to card Cashin after he had fouled him.
got all of the major decisions right there maybe a hint of offside about the goal but too close to call on any replays I have seen.
Be happy if she reffed every week after the dross that normally officiates us

Jeez you want to be a non drinker in the east stand , the stink of alcohol, the stink of too much alcohol comming out the other end of folk , having it spilled all over the place and on you and your clothes , people too often now don’t live and let live within reason ,
funny though , my wife and I sat in the west stand one game last season and she pointed out there was no stomach churning smells wafting over us every five minutes ?
She can’t sit near me then?

Yup, in London, kind of hoping this thread would keep me updated on the play

Watched (on RamsTV) the Mansfield game, I know it wasn't our first X1, but was very disappointed in the way we allowed Mansfield to dominate after we scored.
Was at Pride Park today and loved the first 7-8 minutes, but then we went downhill and allowed Port Vale to dominate the rest of the game, much as Mansfield did on Tuesday.
Mitigating factors, yes the ref; After watching the Queen open Pride Park in 1997, I can't remember an away team having 2 penalties awarded to them outside of a penalty shoot-out, and I'm struggling to remember when we last had a penalty awarded against us at Pride Park. However, how awful the ref was today (and he was appalling), what worries me is the response our current team has to any determined attacks against it.
I really hope that I am over-reacting to a disappointing loss, but I can't not ask the question: are the current recently assembled squad who agreed to come to Derby County to play for the football Rooney and latterly Rosenior advocated, willing to play the style of football advocated by Paul Warne?

Moving from our normal sedate seats in West Stand into the South Stand.
Not been with the rowdies since my season ticket in the East Stand corner.
Hope I know some songs still, and that my knees can handle the standing for 90 minutes!
