Gandalf's shin pads got a reaction from angieram in Overrated or underrated
To be fair most of our players are playing in the Championship for a reason. They are inconsistent. All the players mentioned in this thread have strengths and the ability to be decent or even good on their day, it's just a case of how often they are able to produce it.
For that reason I don't really over or under rate any of them. I just just rate them as I find them and go to games knowing that they won't be showing their best attributes every time and am accepting of that...

I think what you've said is why I think it's so important in the championship to have a very clear idea tactically. It's a division where a lot of players tend to have very clear strengths and very clear weaknesses. You really need to figure out how to emphasise the strengths and deemphasise weakness through finding the right roles for players and the right players around them to compliment them. By doing that a player or a team can play "above" what you'd expect and likewise if you get it wrong you can have all the "quality" in the division and still look poor.

Gandalf's shin pads got a reaction from jono in When football dies
This is what will kill small and medium sized clubs such as Derby in the end.
I come from Heanor and when I was at school (80s/90s) the vast majority of my classmates who were interested in football supported either Derby or Forest with the odd 'glory hunter' or unless they came from elsewhere. You supported your local team because it's where you came from and it's what your family and friends did.
That has completely changed now. The younger fan base is being lost to more glamorous, better promoted/more visible and richer 'Super Clubs' both from the Prem and abroad. It won't be long before that starts being reflected in game attendance. Full Houses, even for Forest, could soon be a thing of the past.

Gandalf's shin pads got a reaction from G-Ram in Jason Knight
Obviously it's all a matter of opinion. I just haven't seen anything in his performances that would indicate he is any better than that or that he would be particularly difficult to replace. Other views are available.

You may be entirely correct. I just don't rate him as highly as others seem to is all. I could be wrong, it has been know. I'd be more than happy to be proven so!

Thought Dunkirk was incredible. Claustrophobic, chaotic, and really disorientating. Very cleverly done. Reminded me in some ways of Son of Saul which is the best film about Auschwitz I've seen.
That style of giving no context and telling it like it is really works for me when watching a film I want to learn something from.

Saw 'Dunkirk' with my partner yesterday. I can only second what has already been said. It's a masterpiece. Certainly the best war film I've seen. Not an 'action' film as such. Don't go expecting standard 'Hollywood Blockbuster' stereotyping. It's a brilliant study in tension and suspense from start to finish. We all know how it ends, it's the getting there that matters and Christopher Nolan does it justice.
I'm not one for going over the top emotionally at films but I had a lump in my throat on a couple of occasions. The ending is very poignant. My other half went to the ladies room to cry when we came out.
