To quote B4, I think that he'd still be happy with the season so far.

This ref is a weak ref who is easily influenced. Our away games at Plymouth and Bolton have showed this and again last night. I'm sure that he eventually, deservedly, booked one of their players because of the crowd reaction.
Also, I believe that Reading's cynical attitude throughout the game, turned him against them, they have been one of the most cynical teams to have played here this season and couldn't have complained if more than one player had been sent off. Refs are only human and you can't help but be ticked off when you see a team that has clearly come to spoil a game through cynical and negative tactics.

In theory yes but, in reality not necessarily so. You can’t just rule goals out or add goals in at the end of the game and thus alter the result. Nobody knows how the game would have panned out had Gayle’s goal not been given last night. Maybe we wouldn’t have let our concentration drop and concede. Maybe we’d kept the pressure up and scored by another means.

i agree in part with you, but a part of the problem is that even while we were still being sledgehammered by the EFL, Reading were getting the kid gloves treatment, and have continued to do so ever since. How they have been able to keep on spending through all this I have no idea, and although that minority singing what they did is unacceptable, it is at least to a small amount understandable.

A fully deserved 3 points, if a bit lucky with some questionable decisions by the officials. I thought that all of the contentious decisions were wrong from my viewpoint in the Lower East.
Having said that, Hourihane and Sibley's yellows were fully justified, but their players got away with many similar fouls. Maybe the sending off was harsh, but a couple of their other players should have easily seen red.
Justice served on a team, who only came to spoil and foul their way to a point.

I do wonder about some on here. We were miles better than them and I lost count of how many cheaty little fouls they put in tonight that weren't carded. We were also the only side that looked like scoring all night. Does anyone really think they deserved a point tonight? I really don't get the mardiness from some quarters.

Only one team tried to play any football tonight. Reading had just the one shot on goal which tells its own story really. I think we need to consider how different that game was to the fixture at the Madjeski. Night and day for me and while we could have been more clinical, the best side won. Reading came to spoil and disrupt and in the past that has worked. Tonight, we stayed calm, played our game not theirs and got our just deserts. There's an air of confidence about this side and I like it. A lot.

Not strictly correct, Wycombe and Wigan can afford to draw against each other and still match our current points, overtaking us on goal difference. The others aren't brought into the equation yet, let's just hope we can tick as many off the list as soon as possible.

The big problem for us was that we were put into administration by MM, which made us vulnerable to blackmail by the likes of the Efl and Gibson, they were able to take their actions by threatening the very existence of the club by holding up the sale.
To be fair regarding the amortisation charge, it would have eventually caught up with us in later years anyway, unless they coincided with the relaxations because of covid.

Poor formation for an away day breakfast plate imho; sausage should be between the defensive beans and rotated to prevent the midfield scrambled egg being encumbered with defensive duties. Egg should be deployed further forward and ahead of the hash-browns, with the mushrooms out wide but given license to cut in and play as a number 10. Really don’t believe the combination of fried & scrambled eggs ever works; they’re just too similar. At least one of the slices of toast should’ve been given a starting position to give added structure to the team, supporting the bacon which appears somewhat isolated and awkwardly placed in the way of the hashbrowns. Bizarrely part of the beans seem to currently be deployed as a wing-back…I can’t see that working at all. I’m liking the look of the fresh orange on the bench but not sure it’s got enough in the tank to last the whole 90 minutes. Just don’t think that line-up is going to cut the mustard today. Really need the lad Brown on there too, just to spice it up a bit.
