So why hasn't Thompson had more minutes in the league? Why has Robinson been sitting in the U21s for 2 years, despite getting his league debut under Rooney? He's even been on the bench in league games where we've been 3-0 up. Why wasn't Weston rewarded for his good performance in the EFL Trophy? The opportunities have been there, Warne just opted not to use them.

Unless you think bringing someone like Robinson on when 3-0 up with 30 mins to go is going to cost us points, then there has been several opportunities

The point made by @Tyler Durden (and many others, including myself), is that we could have done more in the foreign market to avoid competing with richer clubs for the same players. It has also been shown how Warne is reluctant to introduce yougnsters into the first team (odd minutes here and there). @jono chose to ignore those comments completely, and focus on the "Until we get extra financial backing..." part which preceded it.
    On the foreign market
The club made an active decision not to look abroad for a forward. Instead, gambled on competing with other clubs for domestic based players. This was a gamble which ultimately failed, resulting in us to looking at other options.
    On producing home grown players
Brown was an unused sub in 3 league games, then brought on in the last minute vs Bristol when 3-0 up. He also started on the bench vs Barrow, when it was the perfect opportunity for him to show the club what he can do. We gained nothing by giving Collins 60 minutes. We need to do better at giving our brightest talents more of an opportunity.
In 21/22, Thompson got 1521 minutes across 23 league games under Rooney. He then got only 160 minutes under Warne across 10 games in L1 (22/23), and was effectively pushed out the door by bringing in White. His game time only increased to 708 league minutes in 23/24
Minutes to others has also been extremely limited. Excluding games vs U21 sides, these are the minutes given to academy players under Warne in all competitions:
    Cybulski - 90
    Robinson - 45
    Oduroh - 44
    Aghatise - 14
    Bardell - 14
    Radcliffe - 11
    Fapetu - 9
    Weston - 6
For comparison, Ozoh got 183 mins for Palace before he got loaned to us. Chirewa got 152 mins for Wovles and Springett 240 mins for Norwich. All played the majority of those minutes in the PL. Whereas for us, Brown's the only academy player to have featured in the league under Warne (only 15 minutes!!!). Oduroh (19 mins) and Fapetu (7 mins) are the only other academy players to have featured in a competition other than the EFL Trophy.
As demonstrated by pretty much every Cat 1 club, youngsters get a tast of the 1st team environment (100-300 mins), and are then either loaned out to continue their development, or they step up permanently to the first team.
I'll reiterate a previous point - Warne needs to do better at bridging the gap.

Haven't seen the despondency you describe, have seen our transfer business this summer being critiqued in exactly the same vein as matchday performances, individual players ratings etc
Just because posters remark that we didn't get a striker in this window when Warne stated it was our intention to do so doesn't make them ingrates regards the remainder of the transfer window.
I think it was pretty good.
Notwithstanding this it still requires mentioning that this is now the third transfer window when the club has stated it has gone after a striker in the final weeks of the window and not brought one in so there is definitely a pattern now which warrants further discussion.

Indeed.  The idea that we will not have him in the team at every opportunity is for the birds.
The guy played several games in the Champions League for Liverpool, winning man of the match.  He is our best player by a country mile.

I think back too my distant youth and how hard it was to actually have a rant like we do now.
You had a small circle of friends and hopefully a smaller circle of people you actively disliked. Your TV was 1 channel and the news was whatever paper your Dad bought. Your ability to have an argument was limited to time on the bus to school or later maybe in the pub, and the info you had to base your argument was limited as well. There was relatively little inter-generational contact and youngsters were firmly told to mind your place.
So if you had a grouse about something only a handful of people knew about it and it was "contained". If you kept going on and on you were swiftly told to button it. If you didn't you soon were friendless. That pattern followed to adulthood for most people.
Today any kid who can string a few words together and type can have an audience of thousands instantly and inevitably will feel resentment when some of those thousands push back on their views. That's been happening for some time now and those kids are now adults with the same traits.
Being told you are "Wrong" by other people, particularly anonymous keyboard warriors is bound to lead to huge frustration.
I've been married for 48 years so I know I'm permanently "wrong" and its water off a Ducks back to me now!

It's a few facets. I think there is a line between healthy and unhealthy frustration when it comes to things over time. You can express flaws with something and be critical without necessarily allowing yourself to get overly emotionally involved. This forum though by it's nature is going to select for people who are more involved with engaging with the club as a hobby and people who feel they need to express something. In many ways this is probably one of the healthier places that someone can vent that frustration. It's more contained than twitter and they are more likely to be directly challenged on their views and it's in that sweetspot of the community is big enough to a diversity of views but small enough that people aren't completely "faceless". It's also not algorithm driven and just presenting content that reaffirms their believes nor deliberately is trying to inflame it.
I do think it's useful for people to remember that this is a hobby, that's not to disparage it in the slightest but it's always worthwhile asking yourself "Do I enjoy this ?" and "Is it worth this level of emotional investment if it's going to lead feeling frustrated". I somewhat deliberately disengaged with the forum last year because of the balance of me enjoying it versus where my head was at and how little time I had didn't come close to adding up.
However the crude truth of the internet is that anger is both extremely addictive and incites engagement. It can get extremely difficult for some people to let something go and it often gets worse over time. Get angry -> people argue against you -> get angrier -> get further entrenched in a mindset.

Absolutely correct. But I just don’t understand why ? I don’t even mean the cursing when your team goes a goal down, the in the moment anger and frustration. That’s normal human behaviour. What irks is the hobby horse riders. They get one and seem incapable of getting off it. 🤷‍♂️

You know this is a Football Fans forum don’t you ?  I wouldn’t suggest you do dirty yourself but I should imagine if you log on to a Man U, Chelsea or even Southampton Forum you will find as many negative views about their Managers after 3 games as on here about Warne. I am amazed how many get the vapours about negativity when  it is the same at virtually every Club and on every Football Forum. Fickle fans like to vent. Accept it for what it is.

So I need to take notes from someone that doesn’t watch the team these days, that he says he supports, but occasionally watches the highlights then asks others to see how they performed.
I enjoy my own positivity and enjoy the positivity of others within the club and outside of the club, the folk that want to get behind the club, and to try and help it move it forwards, by feeling a part of it, and being able to take a defeat on the chin, without looking for the faults, the mistakes, and feeling by highlighting them or constantly dwelling on them or expecting the future to be full of them by posting them all over social media for everyone that chooses to read them to paint a damaging picture of our wonderful club or for such to outweigh all the positivity, whilst I can rejoice and celebrate a win, and a draw, in whatever way the team has performed in achieving such a positive result.
I love howling at the moon. 🖤
