Carnero reacted to King Ramses III in v Forest (A) Carabao Cup Match Thread
Anyway, the good thing about going out of the Carabao Cup early is that players are safely tucked up in bed on a Tuesday night and not prone to injuries from those mid week fixtures. Cup runs can often derail your season.....
Carnero reacted to cannable in Marcus Maddison
I read somewhere that, because of Posh’s method of financial stability, their managers are hired with the brief to score lots of goals to rapidly increase their forwards’ value. This can make some of their strikers look better than they really are. Maddison’s stats suggest he’s the beneficiary of this.
Yep, loads of goals and loads of assists, but for a #10 his general play statistics are rank bad. He averages under 20 passes a game and his passing accuracy is in the fifties. Literally, every time he gets the ball he tries to do something with it.
So you need a role in the team in which you accept a player is going to give the ball away a gargantuan amount and hope he has the ability to carry his goals and assists into this division.
Carnero reacted to Carl Sagan in Lawrence and Bennett charged with drink driving
There must be a reasonable chance they'll be in prison in January. I remember standing on the terraces at Highbury singing "Where's your donkey gone?" after Tony Adams had been sent down for drink driving, and shouting "Molby's inside" at John Barnes from the Popside as he dribbled forward when Jan Molby was in the nick for the same thing.
We've only 2 games (Barnsley and Luton) before their hearing so I'm guessing/hoping that they won't play until at least after then, when the legal picture will be clearer.
Carnero reacted to Spanish in Keogh out for the season
his main crime is that he got so drunk that he didn't recognize that the colleagues he leads as captain were putting themselves in danger. I would have hoped that some time before he lost any sort of control his instincts would have kicked in. They didn't and it is ironic that he has unluckily been seriously injured. I can only speak for myself; I am not a hater but it is clear that he is no leader. He could and should have stopped this.
Carnero reacted to DCFC1388 in Keogh out for the season
Personally think that if he had anything about him he would agree for his contract to be mutually cancelled. I still think as a club we would help towards his rehab we just don't & shouldn't have to pay him for 2 years of a contract he cant fulfill due to his own faults & decisions.
Carnero reacted to Steve How Hard? in Lawrence and Bennett charged with drink driving
I'm not part of the lynch mob that wants Lawrence and Bennett hung, drawn and quartered but there are a multitude of reasons why having them in tomorrow nights squad would be a bad idea. My opinion FWIW is that Sky have got their Guessometer out again. The same one they used when predicting the timeline for Lampard leaving.
Carnero reacted to therealhantsram in Keogh out for the season
Which is why I wouldn't be surprised to see he contract extended for another year as a result of this in the same ways Barker's was.
i.e. Longer deal on reduced wages to give us some short term financial flexibility and Keogh the dream of playing once again.
Carnero reacted to jimbo jones in NFL 2019 Season
True, which is why Zimmer & Spielman are coming under fire. It’s been like that for years, even when we got to the Championship game it was, and relied on Keenum running around to make plays.
so blowing all your cap space, £84 million on a QB that needs protection, and not really addressing the o line, keeps looking even more stupid.
Now we are a run first, run heavy team, with the £84 million QB, who’s underused and no one has any confidence in....it’s going well 🤦♂️😂
Carnero reacted to SaintRam in Fantasy NFL 2019
Ah that's good to know. Thankfully; for a while now - there are no decisions for me to be made. Have a player on Bye every week for a while. So I can trust in my good team, and stop ruining it by getting involved. 😄
I must be bottom of the coaching leaderboard after these 2 weeks - just abysmal decisions.
Carnero reacted to DCFC1388 in 'It's a long season'
I was looking at the league table this morning, we have drawn 5 games of which 4 could easily have been wins which would put us joint top! Also only 2 defeats, same as Leeds...season isnt as bad as people have made out.
Of the 5 draws so far -
Swansea - Waghorn missed a pen
Stoke - They missed a sitter but Waghorn missed a 1 on 1 late on
WBA - Waghorn missed a pen, their pen was a dodgy decision
Cardiff - We should've had a pen just before their pen. Waghorn also missed another 1 on 1
Leeds - Only 1 of the 5 we were actually lucky to draw
Carnero reacted to SIWY in Cocu
Saw Mel outside the Griffin down at Brentford where he said he thought Cocu has had a great impact at the club. Now obviously our owner is hardly going to bury his manager to some random fan after 5/6 games, but given this was directly after the Forest disaster I took this to mean that Mel thinks Cocu is doing very well in the day to day stuff that most of us don’t see.
We only have 2 wins so far this season, but out of the 5 draws we’ve had how many of those games would you argue we edged it or could have won? The only game I’d say we’ve really had to dig in deep for a point was Leeds away, and other than that we’ve created some quality chances in all the other games where we could have actually won.
I think in spells of games we’ve actually looked very good, but there’s been little consistency so far. Now we finally have a decent run of fixtures, we can start to build some confidence and gain momentum and I’m hoping this will lead to us becoming a bit more consistent. All in all, I’d say Cocu is doing a good job given the circumstances he’s under.
Carnero reacted to ramsbottom in Has your faith in the club been tested?
Personally, I'd have told those fans to take a long walk off a short pier. I'm a liberal at heart so I won't use the term snowflake, but get a ducking grip!!! It's three individuals being stupid. It's not Mel Morris burning down Pride Park, whilst sodomising the Queen over the bonnet of his Tesla is it...
Carnero reacted to Carl Sagan in Academy Thread 19/20
After today's 1-0 win over Blackburn the U23s sit 2nd in the Premier League 2 table.
The next round of league games isn't until 18th October when we entertain Everton.
Meanwhile it's a big week for the U18/19 team who begin their Champions League campaign with a trip to Minsk! Kickoff is 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Carnero reacted to Mucker1884 in Has your faith in the club been tested?
Some of my ramblings over the past few days may have given the impression that I had lost faith in the club. I blame my poor writing skills on that, as that most certainly is not the case.
Individuals aside, As far as the club is concerned, I do want to see how they react overall, but obviously, that all has to wait anyway, so wait we shall.
I've said I don't even know how I want the club to react. What I want them to do about this week's shenanigans. I guess when it is time for decisions to be made... and the club make them... I will decide how happy (or not) I am with said decisions.
Regardless of that outcome, I seriously doubt I will turn my back on the club... even those making the decisions won't be here forever. Individuals will make those decisions, not DCFC.
As for the other stuff...
Jury's out on Rooney, but I don't think I'll ever have strong opinions on it, either way.
The stadium buy out seems fantastic, to this particular gullible amateur.
The club/Mel/Frank/ dealt with the spygate crap impeccably, imo.
As for this week specifically, I think the club have handled the situation as well as anyone could hope/expect thus far.. and that includes the turn-around with the captains armband, once Huddlestone's video came to light. Play yes. Captain, no. So all good in my opinion.
Overall, I don't recall ever being as proud of our chairman/owner-bloke as I have/do with Mel. But whether that changes some time soon (I don't expect it to) or not, There will still be DCFC... My DCFC... long after they have gone!
So... erm... No!
Carnero reacted to WestKentRam in Andre Wisdom Podcast Episode
I couldn't believe his 'best of times' was the night out after the QPR game!
Yes CM's comment lifted the tension, but it did seem that he was exasperated that the other players seemed satisfied they'd done as well as they could have in the game.
I always like it when the interviewee says they shouldn't really be saying this, but...
