I mean… Hourihane has been useless for weeks. Still starting. Still captain.

I say Louie is our best attacking central midfielder. But he's never given the opportunity to show it.

There’s a gem there that just needs a little more polishing.
We’d be daft to let him go.

Used in just about every role but his preferred one and never given a run except for those 15 games at left back last season. I wish people would refrain from stating the obvious and look for the reasons. Playing a different position every game does not help a young lad develop. That is what has happened to Sibs. If PW isn't intending to give him a job to do and a run of games at it, he'll be better off going somewhere where they'll give him what DCFC hasn't. Possibly his own fault for being "utility".

So, I think the consensus on Sibs is
    a) he hasn't reached his potential
    b) he hasn't had a run of games, except 15 or so last season at left back, to cement himself into a role and make it his own.
    c) possibly harmed by his own diversity he has played full back, DM, LWB, LW, RW and the odd game at #10, his best position IMO. How does one develop as a player given the lack of a consistent role?
I've followed the lad from the U18 Champions days of 2019. IMO, there is still a very good player in there who won't ever get out unless he gets a run at a role, preferably #10. Unfortunately, I don't think PW is ever going to give him what he needs. He might be better off moving on to a club where he'll be given the time and trust he (and every other player, for that matter) needs to fulfil their potential.
Just to close, I don't think fans should get on his case. True he hasn't reached his potential but ask yourself why and show some understanding.

In recent games Sibley has shown great ability at left back and done well in midfield. Great to see his  increased maturity and his eradication of the reckless fouls which were such a feature  of his play,  regularly costing us dangerous free kicks. He 's an important squad member and deserves a new contract.

I’ve kept an eye on hull purely because I quite like rosenior as a bloke but he’s flirting with in and out the top 6 with a very decent squad and the times I’ve watched them I’m not overly in a rush to watch his brand of football either , against Sunderland they nicked a very very much needed win in a not too impressive style / performance of the kind people slate warne for getting, like us he has had some injuries and like us he has depended on a few decent quality players creating some magic ala cavalio,
no matter how warne turns out I’m not looking at rosenior with rose tinted glassed, he has a bit to prove he’s anything like the top rated tactical master and manager some on here are claiming

Stand by that. Hourihane should have been taken off shortly after half time. If we’d held the midfield we wouldn’t have conceded   He jogs around like president biden on his way to the podium

He’s picking the wrong team for a start.  Barkhuizen and Fornah both need to start. Then he needs to set us up so we can actually play the ball through the midfield instead of putting everything long or wide. Hourihane sitting that deep makes no sense. Aerial crosses to Cashin, Nelson, whomever, at set pieces are fine. Crosses in open play are - with our front line - largely a waste of time.
Amazing to hear our manager describe today’s result at home against Wycombe as ‘a well-earned point’.

    More fool them.
I thought he was a mediocre manager at best whose wages helped to drain the club's finances even further at a time we could ill afford to do so.
Plus I feel he was always instrumental in the removal of cocu and undermined him as the manager in his own desire for management.
And he will always be the man who was in charge when we were relegated to league 1.
A massive mistake by Birmingham that won't them take long to regret I fear.

Sibley has been victim to being overcoached, not having a consistent run in the side and not getting a chance to play to his strengths. He definitely has got some quality and let's not forget, he's 22 and played over 100 matches. He can still grow to be a top player for the club.
His first full season was the COVID era. The whole team struggled to adapted to playing with no home supporters. Second full season, Rooney kept playing his mate Ravel Morrison in Sibleys position and most of his appearances after the first 6 games were off the bench. I think he only played 4 or 5 full 90 minutes. Then last season Warne chucked him in at wing back with full knowledge it wasn't his best position. Played lots of games but rarely played further forward until the last stretch of games where he was excellent.
He has not had a fair opportunity to play in attacking midfield consistently since supporters returned after COVID. Simple as that. With some more confidence, I think he can offer so much more creativity. Warne keeps moaning about the lack of an alternative going forward. He's got Sibley right in front of his nose and flat out refuses to give him a chance up the field.
Feel bad for the lad, he deserves much better than this.

Sibbo isn't our Greek god laid low, but he's got more firepower and creativity in his little toe than Washington. He needs a run of games in the no.10 position with the freedom to run with the ball, be creative with it, take risks and have runners around him to open up that space.

It's funny really. When I play sidewards a few yards, I have a nearly 100% successful pass rate, but when I move the ball forward quickly into the attacking half (sometimes creating chances and occasionally getting an assist and certainly creating some excitement) my percentage pass success rate drops. I do know what type of pass I prefer to make and watch when I'm at a game, and surprisingly it's not the sleep inducing side to side passing and back again.
It's fairly easy to get decent possession stats if you pass side to side etc but they will drop if you look to get the ball forward quickly. I'll give Warne time to get it right before I call for his head.

His stats are decent because he takes every set piece. His open play stats are average at best. Before he went off injured on Saturday, he must have aimlessly hooked balls over his head on the stretch 4 or 5 times and also put one of the lamest tackles in in the middle of the pitch - and no, this wasn't Warne's fault, it's because his legs have gone and he can't move well enough.
    He's just an example though.

Rooney when he first came in as a player was a good addition but I think we were on our way up as a team anyway. He let himself go during lockdown and came back in such bad shape it was very poor. We would have been far better to have got rid once that season finished. But we didn't and we couldn't. His presence ultimately undermined the manager. I have no respect or love for his time here as player.
As a manager I also don't think he was very good at all. However, as a figurehead when we were really in the crap he was excellent and he showed everything he should have shown as a player. He held it together. Of course all of that is nearly undone by him happily riding and backing the Kirchner horse. I dread to think of that outcome.

Without turning this into a Sibley debate in the wrong thread. He barely played in an attacking position last season, and still chipped in with a couple of goals.
Sibley under Rooney was scapegoated badly. When we needed a threat, he still wasn't picked. Remember him coming on to win the game against Peterborough after Lawrence got sent off? Yeah, then he started the next game but was subbed off at half time for no apparent reason. He was forced into a position of having to score or assist to even get on the pitch, and frankly it was ridiculous.
    Play the kid.

I’d be very annoyed if Sibley went. He’s one of the few players we have who can score from out of nothing, and also significantly helps our age issues. He needs to be in the squad and used.
