Yes Plymouth were, on the day the better team and take the points. But we can look back at the Fleetwood and Shrewsbury away games and on a lucky day would have won both and would be sat on 15 points, just 2 behind the leaders. That's football, I'm convinced we will be in the mix for promotion. Players will get to gel as the season progresses. Liam will get to know his best starting 11 for the different tactics of the team we face.

Weirdly I had a similar vein of thought yesterday...how fleeting and double edged 'success' can be in football.
Forest have their best season in decades and celebrate like mad. We have our worst season ever and potentially go out of business and are relieved it's just relegation to a level we haven't visited for decades.
But the actual result could easily be that Forest spend a miserable season getting hammered and are relegated with a load of players desperately wanting to leave. We have an enjoyable season that ends with a promotion party and a motivated team with momentum....and we are both in the same division.

I have the same faith as you B4, yes we will get better and especially if we have on or two more additions to the squad before the transfer window shuts. What we want in the next few games, is the ball going in the net early in the match. That will force teams to open up against us, which create more space in behind their back line.

Give fringe players a game and get out of the cup, going to be a long season and I’d rather give the EFL trophy a proper go.

One thing I can’t understand is this idea that we should simply be happy and grateful that we have a team to support.
It’s a nice sentiment but it felt like that went out of the window the day we announced the signings of Hourihane, Chester and McGoldrick in the space of 45 minutes.
Such signings were only ever going to build expectation and increase the desire to see a winning team and of course, any sense of the club slowly mending itself seemed to disappear.
I don’t blame anyone for being frustrated. It’s instinctive when you don’t win a game of football and especially so when the opposition are so overmatched and especially when you see teams of a similar ilk faring much better.
Rosenior is not a unique case. Any manager would be in the same position. We are a big fish in the league and there is a level of expectation that comes with that. This will have been the same for Sunderland, Leeds, Forest, Southampton and all the teams that came before us.
It’s going to be hard for Rosenior to keep pace and not because of entitlement. As Derby fans, we are grounded and we have seen enough over the years to know that nothing is a given.
It’s the sheer disparity between us and the majority of clubs at this level. We have infrastructure, resources and stature that some of these clubs can only dream of. It’s not arrogance, it’s factual.
There is always going to be a level of disappointment and questions to be asked if you can’t make that count, and so far we haven’t done that.
Two wins v Peterborough and Plymouth and the doubts will be washed away.

Accumulated evidence (after 6 games, 3 won, 2 drawn and one loss). Take the cup game out of the equation and if we stay on that form over the 46 games we will finish on approx 74 points which on last season's League one table would put us in 8th place. But take the 2 draws (we were the far better side in both and they could have been wins). The defeat at Charlton also could have been a win or at least a draw. Of course it's an opinion that the team will get fitter, gel better and find the goal scoring touch. It could be another persons opinion that we could get worse (but I, along with many others doubt that).

Other than the goals we seemingly can’t score, what would control in their final third look like? We had 27 shots, 8 on target, 62% possession, 13 corners.
What percentage of those 27 shots came from our own half? How many shots did Wildsmith have?
It was Fleetwood’s third clean sheet in 4 games, which suggests they set up to be difficult to score against, all the information available says we played well in attack but couldn’t score, which also shows they played well in defence and stopped us scoring.

Yeah, watched the highlights back a minute ago. Lots of valid observations from posters about how our finishing can and should be better, however there was another team involved today whose goalkeeper made a number of decent stops and defenders threw themselves in front of shots to block them.
Hopefully it clicks soon and we smash in a few to build the confidence and change those draws into wins.

Yes and with a couple of additional signings and a few wins with a team that was only put together approx 6 weeks ago, we will get better, I'm not going to state we will the league, but I'm convinced we will get better. The fixtures have not been kind to us, playing against sides at home that will probably be in the the top half of the table. With the last 2 away games being against teams we should get 3 points against, especially if we come up against them later in the season. Providing we don't have a massive injury list, we will be up there. Also lets not forget, we are the big club in the league that every team will raise their game against.

At this early stage of the season, the key is to firstly to keep it tight at the back, avoid defeat and then build on that as the season progresses. I think that we’re doing ok considering we have virtually a new team. It was never going to come good overnight.

Only saw the highlights and read the text commentary ( was at a wedding) jees how many chances ?

hey, we came away with a point at an away game, another day and we’d be looking at 2 or 3 nil. It’s got to be seen as one of those days. Thing I like is reading “Roseignors slick Derby” and seeing the number of shots, close shaves and a clearly dominant side. It will come good. Patience lads. A couple of wins and Collins off the mark and confidence will soar as will the fear factor. How did we look on playing out from the back ? Were we a bit slow and sideways again or is it looking more purposeful?

Fozzie rolling crosses in from the left at will today, especially in the first half. Collins hasn’t seen that before in anger and wasn’t in the right place. That’ll change

Just under 5 weeks ago we had 5 players, this virtually new squad will take time to gel and get better. Steve Cotterill's teams are always hard to score against, even last season they only conceded 51 goals even though they finished in 18th position. The fixtures have not been kind to us, having played up until tonights game against teams that finished in the top half of the table barring Barnsley who came down with us. Rams fans please have faith, it's a long season and not a sprint.
