Shows just how much of a shoddy organisation the EFL is, rather than hold their hands up and say we have a flaw in our rules that rightly or wrongly has been taken advantage of, and we should now adjust those rules, they’d rather try and save face and take not only a club but a fan base down. I hope the lot of them stand on a plug then stub their little toe.

Didn't he also not put his seatbelt on?
Surely if you put yourself in danger, then subsequently get injured which means you can't continue in your job, your employer shouldn't have to cover your wages.
If I deliberately put acid in my eyes, then I couldn't see for 2 years, should my work pay me for 2 years when I couldn't work?

Fully understand he’d be annoyed that out of the three he’d be the only one to get the boot, but as captain and a 30+ year old man he should’ve known better than to get in the car that night.

He knew the trouble the club was in and he was offered reduced wages which he turned down, the mans an absolute **** in my eyes, even after costing us a place in the Prem the fans still got behind him and it’s us fans that will ultimately suffer when we’re struggling for another season or two on the back of all this. If he had anything about him he’d of dropped the case when he was back in employment because he should’ve known better.

He was just as guilty, yeah they should all have been sacked but you can see why (given that neither Bennett nor Lawrence were injured and could still contribute to the club) those two weren't sacked.
Keogh was out until hi contract expired, wouldn't have played for us again yet would have been more than happy to take a full wage until his contract ended despite his stupidity costing us on the pitch.
The fact the club even offered him reduced terms was more than I would have done!
Morally you can argue that we didn't sack a 1m and 5m rated player because they could still contribute but under no circumstances should Keogh feel aggreived about not being paid considering his absolute disregard for the club, it's supported and let's not forget, as Captain the players he is supposed to be responsible for.
Let's also not forget that these millionaire footballers can quite easily afford a taxi, in fact the club laid cars on for them but because those three and others wanted to stay out partying late they declined

    Messing players around?
He was the club captain, got absolutely out of his face, into a car with a drink driver and put himself out of action for over a year.
How do you think we should have handled it? Sent him some flowers and a get well soon card maybe?
I'll be honest, I don't want players here who's concern is not getting paid if they get hurt in a pissed up car smash.

If we do eventually get a points deduction, even if it is only 2 or 3 points, then Steve Gibson has kept us in the division.
His meddling and throwing his toys out of the pram delayed the verdict by at least 5 months, only for all of his crying to be thrown out and no wrongdoing proved. This means that any deduction we may get would have been applied to the season that’s just finished rather than the next season.
Whatever happens, and as disappointing as it is, it’s still absolutely hilarious that Mr Gibson has done nothing but help us, and the bill for the honour will be footed by every other club.
    Thanks Steve, now run along.

Not entirely unrelated to this thread I get the principles behind FFP but the reality we are seeing this season with the exception maybe of Barnsley having a cracking season is a league that is in danger of becoming a closed loop from the Premier League which is fuelled by the parachute payments, same/similar clubs yo-yoing between the two, the increase in punishments to clubs in our league making them too afraid to dare to dream of anything other than staying in the league.
The 3 coming down next season all have obvious claims of bouncing back, Brentford/Bournemouth/Swansea depending on who goes up will be thereabouts again.
I'm well aware we have far bigger issues of our own to worry about but if I was a neutral I'd say this league is in real danger of going from exciting to boring very fast.

Does the EFL have a head office? If so, I wonder if a healthy dose of civil unrest/peaceful protest outside their headquarters protesting against their incompetence is in order? Obviously our chairman is no saint, but the EFL have shown again and again that they'd rather make football fans suffer than admit they did anything wrong.

I think whatever the EFL want the EFL get.
Is it just a coincidence that every time the EFL appeal they win? Does that mean that every person who sits on the first independent panel of every case is completely incompetent and isnt able to come up with a decision based on the information provided.
Strange as well that the EFL are able to appeal a decision made by an independent panel and if the original decision is overturned (everytime) the club isnt allowed to challenge it.
Cant be just me that thinks we have a legal system in the real world and then football that seems it's own entity with power hungry greedy barstewards who can change rules at the drop of a hat to suit.
One last thing. Why are we being so severely hounded for breaching rules that have seen us gain absolutely nothing over recent years and clubs like Forest and Watford can have owners who own 2 clubs and sell players between them for over inflated fees to circumnavigate FFP.
And dont even get me started on West Ham who can literally field 2 illegal players costing Sheff United their place in the prem, are found guilty and fined 10 million, but dont receive a points deduction. Then get given a stadium at our expense.

I arrived at the ground yesterday at 09:30am. I was the first there. The rain gave it a poignancy as I stood by Cloughie & Taylor and the voice of Brian and what he’d say to the team played in my head (“Look! If you can’t go out today and beat these lot, then you want bloody shoe-tin...)” 10 O’clock came and gradually a few other faces appeared. The rain eased. The stewards manned the barricades. A couple of friendly police said “hello”; “ hello, hello, hello!” I replied and they smiled back to themselves. Suddenly the crowd was apparent and the black flag unfurled. A frenzy of photographs and the air lifted; a few chants rippled up (“since I was young...”) and the sound of a drum (a guy was banging the road sign). The sound of some beer cans being opened (hissss!) and suddenly I realised there was quite a crowd and that little fizz of excitement as I read the banner“Just leave everything on the pitch, that’s all we ask” and suddenly Jake Buxton was in front of us and now it kicked of “Jake Bux-ton is a foot-ball genius” and the eyes watered, and cars hooted as they drove by and the singing continued “we love you Derby, we do” and the players got out of their cars, ashen-faced and looked over as black and white smoke filled the air and more cars hooted and Jay-sun Knight, Knight, Knight, and more cars hooted and I choked on the smoke. Football is nothing without the fans.
A remarkable day. It felt so good to be back amongst real football fans. Passion and that unmistakable chat “ay up, me duck”.
