DCFC1388 got a reaction from Thameram in Barnsley FC v Derby - Match Day Thread
We looked better vs Stevenage when we went to a 3421 with Bird in the 10 so have no issue with us going the same again today.

DCFC1388 reacted to S8TY in Dwight Gayle - Signed until the end of the season
I remember how well Johnny Stead done for us when he joined us and scored some vital goals and not much was expected of him to be fair ….the difference is and no disrespect to any of our other strikers but Gayle is the best striker we have ….played and scored at a high level and a player I have always think will pop up with a goal when you least expect it because he’s a poacher
very happy with this and some teams in L1 will now have to watch him closely when they play us which might free up space for others

DCFC1388 got a reaction from SKRam in Dwight Gayle - Signed until the end of the season
I have a feeling its a case of we have X amount left of our budget, with the Bird sale we can actually afford Z amount but the cost of signing Gayle is Y amount which is somewhere between both X + Z

I think with Collins out and him being our only number 9, that we will syart to see more of a 3412/3421 like we finished with yesterday meaning Gayle would likely be in a front 2 with NML until Waggy & Washington are fit. We could switch to 343 with Barkhuizen, Sibley & CBT.
In the next few weeks our attacking options could well be Gayle Waghorn Washington NML CBT Barkhuizen Sibley Wilson so thats still alot of good attacking options at this level

We have seen that strikers of a certain quality can drop down to this level and can score plenty of goals.
McGoldrick did it last season, Rhodes, Martin & Collins have this season too. I have no doubt Gayle has the quality still to score goals in this league.

He has been in & around the Stoke squad all season too so you would think he will be pretty fit, only missed a couple of weeks training but i doubt he has been lounging around for weeks, he will have kept himself in a decent shape

DCFC1388 reacted to David in James Collins
I liked it as well, decided against sharing it in the Warne topic though, just didn't seem worth it.
Comes across as really open and honest, I really find it hard not to like the bloke on a personal level from all the content we're given to base our opinions on. Just one of those people I think would be good to have a pint with and get things off your chest to.

Yes and no. It's true he didn't score much, but you could immediately see his ability to control the ball, his first touch and passing.

DCFC1388 got a reaction from Scott129 in Derby v Stevenage FC - Match Day Thread
with the injury doubts & Stevenage playing 2 upfront I can see it being the following -
Wildsmith - Nelson Bradley Cashin - Wilson Thompson Adams Sibley - Bird - NML Barkhuizen
Loach Nyambe Ward Smith Fornah Fapetu Weston
Chances are that 1 of Hourihane, Elder, CBT & Collins will be fit enough to at least make the bench, probably ahead of Fapetu

DCFC1388 reacted to Gabby'sThighs in Collins not everyone's favourite.
He's the kind of player I would loathe if he was playing against us - a scrappy, fighty, argumentative sod who throws his weight around and bullies defenders - and I didn't take to him at first. He's often offside and, while his willingness to close down is to be commended, he often charges in, misses the tackle, and leaves a big gap behind himself. But what he lacks in technical ability he more than makes up for with work-rate, stamina, strength, and determination. And, dammit, he has scored regularly enough to justify himself. A number of great headers and that fantastic scissor-kick. I'd love it if he got to 20 league goals.

I've found plenty of things to criticise over Warne's tenure. Collins has never been one of them. He's put the graft in and scores goals. I've no idea why a section of our fanbases doesn't get behind him.
