Cocu is a class act. Humble, considered, intelligent & patient...everything you would want from someone in charge. He's dealt with everything in this crazy season with the upmost professionalism.
Ive highlighted your last paragraph as its clear Cocu relishes a project, not a short term turnaround job. More than any manager we've had, I feel he's most likely to leave a legacy & not have his head turned by a Prem club in need of a salvage job.
As Ive said elsewhere, the good fortune to have Cocu, Rooney & one of the most exciting Academies in Europe all at the same time feels like the stars aligning. Whatever happens this year, I believe Cocu will be with us for a while yet & that future will look very bright indeed.

The fact people are saying Hart is rubbiah is very short sighted. He was key to City winning their firat major trophies and has been one of the better goalies in the Prem this decade.
Guardiola didnt get rid because he is a rubbish gk, he just needed a different style of keeper which took him a while to eventually get to Ederson. However, being bombed out of City has clearly knocked his confidence. I think a run in someones first team will help boost his confidence. People say Carson is one of our better keepers since Poom, which I agree with, but when he first signed he was written off because of his age, the fact he got relegated with Wigan and also his high profile mistakes.
Im not saying we will get him but I do think having someone like Given around him again like at City will help him, as would someone like Rooney.
Lets just wait and see what happens but I think people are unfairly/overly critical of Hart.
Personally, I think he would be a class signing for us whether we stayed in the Champ or managed to get promoted.

I honestly thought Hart was good, sometimes very good, for Burnley. He got beat out by an established, probably better goal keeper in the end.
I know he's had a rough few years, he's had some mistakes, but is he good enough for Derby County - easily. It would just be based on wages, but he would be comfortably above Roos and Hamer in terms of ability.

I like the idea of signing him. With Te Wierik and Hart we might actually have enough aerial ability in our box for to be defensively solid in this division.

Are we literally forgetting the 10 or so goals Carson let in before he eventually got replaced by Roos that he should have done a lot better on?
I hope we sign a new number one in the off season.

Chris Martin has been one of the best strikers ive seen in a Derby shirt and I would love for him to stay.
However, I really cant blame the club for not offering him a new deal yet. With the whole Covid19 situation the club wont have a clue where we are financially until football starts to return. How can we offer him a wage when we dont know what we can offer him? Im sure he is aware of the situation. No club in this country will know where they are financially to offer new deals.
Personally I think we would have offered him a new deal on reduced terms if everything was normal, hopefully we still do.

I don’t think he is in an excellent position at all.
    1) He’s on the wrong side of 30.
    2) Clubs don’t have the cash anymore. With FFP (or whatever it’ll look like) it will even stop the rich owners splashing the cash so nobody is going to offer him the same money.
    3) I don’t think he really did anything at Fulham, Reading or Hull on his loan spells and people will look at this and say it’s a big risk.
    4) I’m fairly certain clubs will go forward with smaller squads just to reduce wage bills.
It’ll be difficult for Martin. He’s probably on circa £25k a week and to suddenly drop that money to maybe around £5k, that’ll be a shock to anyone. So understandable he may look for one final pay day over glory/comforts of Derby.
I just honestly don’t think he’ll get it. Ryan’s article probably implies that there will be an offer on the table but after years of financial mismanagement the club are now probably looking to be careful this off season. It’ll be cat and mouse because just as likely what we need to replace him will cost just as much elsewhere.
I like the guy and with enough scorers around him he can be effective. However given we are bleeding cash we can’t go offering unsustainable wages anymore. This probably means no more than £15k a week for the next 12-18 months.
Final point - there will be hundreds of free agent players this summer - 98% of them we won’t rate but it’s a buyers market now and players will have to accept across the board substantially lower wage packets. Players will need jobs as well and it’ll come to the point that players will need to start accepting lower wages than what they are accustomed to.

Im gonna hold the rant until June 30 has passed on this one. Given that there's talk of the season resuming before the month end it would have been daft of the club to give him a new contract until we know how the future of football will look.
We would has been in uproar if we had given him a 20k a week contract only for the virus to mean the new normal is 10k a week in our league.

My point wasn't whether he owes anything to the club (incidentally, I still think he does). My point was that the exact same thing happened to Tom Huddlestone, so you'd have thought he'd have learned that 'private' stories don't say private. It just so happens that Huddlestone's video actually involved Bennett himself throwing up in a urinal, so you'd expect the lesson to have stuck in his skull even more. Clearly not.
There's absolutely no excuse for the rank stupidity he's shown. I'm not even passing comment on whether I find it offensive or whether he should review his friendship circle because they're irrelevant the point I'm making.
