Good to get clarification on this after earlier:
"Should Frank move then we've got to start getting ready. What we will not do is begin conversations with probably anyone other than out of work candidates, alright? Because I'm not going to do the same situation there where we approach another club. Because we can't. We have a manager at the moment."

You can’t go from the attraction of a big name like Lampard, who excited the fans because of his profile and the media attention it gave the club and replace him with Wassall or Moore, that’s like selling your Porsche and buying a fiat 500
the fans won’t feel the excitement or the draw of a big name, exactly what Mel is trying to replicate this time around.

At this stage, I think - he related it to the fact that we could only do that 'as we still have a manager'.
I took that to mean that that approach would change once Frank goes. Who knows?

Morris on talksport: wants manager to continue on from Frank. Maintain the style of play. Encourage development of academy players into first team. AND: continue the buzz around the place (so a big name?) and above all, maintain a massive relationship with Derby fans.

Watch back Brighton dismantling us with knockaert running riot and see if you have the same opinion. Also go back and watch his Newcastle team.
Just because he plays a big man up front doesn’t mean he’s route 1 pragmatism, or did you not watch the football under Mac 1 with Chris Martin as focal point?
The idea Chris Hughton is a pragmatist in the mould of Rowett Pearson and Pulis is complete and utter nonsense.

Hughton is head and shoulders above all other candidates. I don't recognise the 'ugly football' thing - his Newcastle and Brighton sides were free flowing attacking teams in the Championship. He's twice achieved promotion, the last time doing exactly what he needs to here - taking a decent squad and giving them the consistency to get promoted. He also carries himself with integrity and dignity - he'd be a manger we could be proud of.
That said, I'd be very surprised if it were him. I heard a while back that the reason Lampard was appointed was that Mel thought having a 'name' in charge would raise the profile of the club with potential investors. I can't see why that would have changed - and Lampard certainly raised our profile. The pattern looks to be continuing with our sounding out of Gerrard. I suspect that we'll go for another big name player. Maybe Gerrard or Giggs. I wouldn't rule out Phil Neville or Paul Scholes. I reckon the most likely is Ashley Cole.

7m compo for Frank & his backroom staff is a really good deal for us, yes its Frank Lampard but its also a young manager who has had 1 season in managemen, 7m is great business by Mel!

Basing this from the odds at the moment:
Cowley (6/4) - done brilliant things with Lincoln, but their style of play is not amazing to watch.
Moore (7/1) - Had arguably the best squad in the division and had them at 4th before being sacked. The only people who seem to agree with the sacking were WBA fans. Not quite sure what that says, but I would hope we set our sights slightly higher initially.
Monk (10/1) - People seem to be unanimously against this, and he certainly wouldn't be a first choice. Style again not amazing to watch at times, but did a good job with Birmingham this year and many of their fans were sad to see him go. Can hardly blame Monk for being angry at the sale of Jota to Villa.
Hughton (14/1) - style not as negative as some think, gets championship sides playing good stuff when going for promotion. Knows how to get out of the division and a very sensible choice.
Terry (14/1) - no for me, if he does well Chelsea will come knocking when they inevitably sack Lampard this time next year.
Bowyer (16/1) - Charlton played some attractive attacking football at times this season. Has done well with a team that was not expected to go up. They also have some exciting young players we could try and steal if Bowyer is appointed. Would be near the top of the list for me.
Gerrard (16/1) - doubt he would come, and it is hard to judge how well he's done. Rangers fans seem to love him, but finishing 2nd in a league where that is both the bare minimum and as much as you can reasonably expect doesn't tell us much. On the plus side, he will only improve.
After this point the names and odds get a bit silly, honourable mentions to Benitez (33/1), Moyes (33/1), Campbell (40/1), McInnes (50/1), Martinez (66/1). Dishonourable mentions to Keane (16/1), Rowett (25/1), Coleman (50/1).

Meh, Carson was on a steady decline because he lost the protection he had the season before in Keogh and Davies (who also lost the protection of two DM’s in front of him). They got Roos up to be very capable and work with Keogh and Tomori, in a more fluid role, we were weaker at set pieces but that was the sacrifice we took to get the best out of Tomori. To get a better standard gk would cost a ridiculous amount. One mistake at the death for Roos doesn’t take away he came in and was decent, not amazing but a capable champ goalie when he wasn’t before.
Probably a discussion for another day mate anyway, bigger things happening!

Stendel or Hughton would put a smile on my face. Gerrard I could get behind. Would be intrigued by a foreign appointment. Could even get behind Moyes or the Lincoln boys, too.
Garry Monk, John Terry, Aitor Karanka, Darren Moore, Tony Pulis - no thank you!

I would like to say I'm shocked at some of the posts on here but I'm not. People banging on about loyalty yet offered none when the rumours started. Too many posters look like spoilt brats, throwing your toys out the pram.
I have to say I'm disappointed with the reactions over the last few weeks, some of you need to hang your heads in shame.

Personally, I think it's taking so long because neither Lampard nor the Chelsea board wanted this outcome right now. I think Lamps might know its a little too early for him but he's finding it really hard to turn down the Chelsea job, while the Chelsea board didn't have Lampard as their number one choice, don't quite think he's ready and are sort of being forced into it through a lack of options and fan pressure. If both sides were as keen on the deal as the media has been making out, it would have been before the door had even finished closing on Sarri and we're relatively powerless to stop it happening.
That's not to say I think he's staying, I'm 50/50 at the moment. I do however think the longer it goes on, the less likely he is to leave.

Go back and watch his teams that have been promoted from this division. Anyone saying he plays percentages like Rowett et al is just lazy based on how he managed Brighton this season - a very different prospect. He’s an astute manager with an excellent record who adapts to the strengths of his team, just what we need especially when he’ll only have about 4 days to sign players when this Lampard situation is finally sorted!

Well its only an extra £750,000 per year (if anything in that article is accurate.) Not exactly breaking the bank from an FFP perspective even without investment.
