Also in the Ossie End for that one. Second tier just above the clock. Had to get there at 1 o/c to get front row with my old friend Robin Morris - where are you now Robin ??

Was at the game, what a season that was. Also remember Jack? Pritchard! Good times…🙂

Doesn’t hide the fact that many people feel the same way, the income generated from season ticket sales is so important to the club.

It says it in the name FOOTball and we haven’t seen much of it this season so far either this season or last season under PW.

Some players develop. Some players don't.

Predicting which ones go on to great things is near impossible, even for professionals in the game.

Surprised with this and feel that it’s too early to make this judgement. Give him another season to develop and who knows what level he could reach. Ability wise he has a lot in his locker, I just hope we have a substantial deal, fee appearances and sell on fees.

As others have said, he need to bulk up a little and have a little more aggression. A potential 20 goal a season championship striker IMO!

    Difficult but not impossible!

  4. My Mrs says she doesn’t want to go anymore, despite having a season ticket. We have both been ST holders for many years but neither of us is impressed with the anti football that Warne seems to want his team to play. How many others feel this way? How many young potential ST holders will drift away to the red side of the A52?

We are Derby I hear at every home game, it’s in our DNA. Yet I see very little on the pitch that reminds me of our great traditions of attractive passing football.

I will still be going to every home game but more in hope than expectation. Until Warne is gone I can’t see things changing anytime soon. I was shocked and surprised that LR wasn’t given more time, I already think that PW has been given too much time. The damage he is doing to our club will be long standing if he is allowed to continue in his job for very much longer.

He got his tactics right at Blackpool, Hit them on the break and we score 3, Today the tactic of missing out on our midfield to play it wide is a worry, You do your homework on the opposition as you should, But to be concerned about a team that hadn't scored a goal all season and only 1 point from their games shows me PWs tactics are way short of where they should be.

I'm neither a Warne in or out and unless DCFC do something so catastrophic with results he's here until the seasons end, My concern is PW and tactics are as confusing to supporters who are trying to understand what he's doing and saying🤷‍♂️

Wrong tactics and wrong team selection today. The result is 2 points dropped which may turn out to be the difference at the end of the season. Tactics and team selection are entirely down to the manager.

  6. 1Wildsmith - 7 steady

    24Nyambe - 8 - solid game

    35Nelson - 8 - dominant  performance.

    6Cashin - 7 - getting back to his best.

    3Forsyth - 7 - Mr Consistency.

    Wilson - 6

    12Smith - 4 - nothing player, need Birdy back.

Bird - 6 great to see him back.

22Fornah - 9 my MOM, really like the way he plays.

11Méndez-Laing - 7 our most dangerous player despite one or two poor decisions.

    10Waghorn - 5 bad miss from a free header, ran around…

    Washington - 6

    7Barkhuizen - 7 good player.

Sibley - 6 needs to be played in his best position

    9Collins - 6 ran around a lot but…

Far more worrying than the result and performance is that he thought we played well.

I think if you asked Cambridge’s manager or centre backs how they would ideally like us to play I doubt they’d have even thought it possible we could be that accommodating

Tbh I also thought we played well and on another day we could have won the game 3 or 4 to nil.

The stand out chance was Waghorn’s header in the 2nd half. He managed to put it wide when it seemed easier to score. Barkhuisen also had a great chance in the 1st half, plus Collins header in the 2nd half.

I for one feel much more encouraged by today’s performance than any other home game this season.

    Agreed. There's potential there.

There was one point where he got the ball and strode forward 20-30 yards with it, and I can't remember the last time we had a DM who did that. Predictably, he did so and there was zero options to pass to so had to turn round and come back though.

Would be good to see him and Bird as a pairing in CM.

May be on dependent upon the fitness of Hourihane.

So, heck, how much longer does everyone need before they make their minds up?

Come on, Mr. Clowes, you've saved the club, now save the team. We want football back.

I voted as being on the edge but after yesterday I am now full blown Warne out.

Even the Mrs doesn’t want to go to matches anymore as she says that she is not enjoying it.

The absolute dross that is being served up as football will drive many fans away from the club if it allowed to continue.

    Warne out!

    You haven't got a point.

Plenty of teams dominate possession and lose just like we have in the past.

Bolton were well ahead on possession before we went 1-0 and still fell behind.

…and yet we lost. We also gave away a penalty and had a player sent off because we didn’t have possession of the ball.

Blame the ref all you want, but if you keep the ball it doesn’t happen

  11. 51 minutes ago, ram59 said:

Depends on where that 71% is, not when it's across the back four like we used to have.

You refer to the Bolton game, they were given 1 penalty for an incident possibly outside the box, whereas we had 4 shouts, including 2 good ones not given. Also remember we had one man less for almost half the game, not a good game to use.

What was the percentage possession before the sending off?

    Missing the point…

  12. With all this lambasting of the referee, has anyone considered that by conceding 71% possession as we did against Bolton it gives the opposition more than twice the opportunities to shoot, draw a foul, win a corner or in this case, win a penalty.

I would suggest that we are part of the problem in so far conceding so much possession of the football gives the referee’s a much greater opportunity of making a mistake to our detriment.

Our emphasis on crossing worries me, as from what I've read, therefore it must be correct, crossing the ball may look good and intuitively appear to almost end in the net, but actually it isn't a great method of trying to score.

    https://soccerment.com/crossing-effective-strategy/

“We calculate that only 1 every 64 crosses is directly translated into a goal. Is it worth trying? We conclude it is not.”

    That’s us f#cked. 🤔

    What does this tell us

Players out of contract next summer: Liam Thompson, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Tom Barkhuizen, Conor Hourihane, Korey Smith, Martyn Waghorn, Louie Sibley, James Collins, Eiran Cashin, Max Bird, Craig Forsyth, Scott Loach

I think that it tells us that we need to offer new deals to Thommo, Sibley, Cashin & Bird, however I would be surprised if any of those players signed new deals at the minute.

Things may change of course between now and the end of the season.

It was a surprise at the time and isn't looking very clever at the moment with Hull in a play-off spot.

I seem to think that Hull were in a relegation scrap when LR signed up so he has certainly enhanced his reputation since joining them.

Wish I could say the same for Paul Warne since joining DCFC.

Was happy to let LR stay and try and work out the problems we were facing last season. But DC decided he wanted to go in a different direction and we have to try and support the new manager.

Things seem to be working out for LR at Hull, I'm happy for him and wish him all the best. As we know because it's working for him over there, that doesn't necessarily mean it would have worked for him with us. Just as you can argue Warne's Rotherham record doesn't mean he will work out here.

Football management is a challenging, unpredictable and fickle beast. Maybe neither Warne or LR will/would have found success with us!

We are now 6 games into the season, it will be interesting to see where we are after the first 12 games which is what LR got last season I believe. Maybe DC has a few irons in the fire and by then will have had sufficient time to make a judgement on whether to stick or twist.

Some posters on here are saying give PW until the end of the season, others until Christmas.

Personally I believe we do need promotion this season as I don’t think we can afford another season languishing in L1.

The time for pretty football will come in the future , for now we need to get out of League One if it means achieving this in an ugly manner then we will have to suck it up, it’s an awful division the sooner we are out of it the better

It can’t get much uglier surely! Ugly football, both last season and so far this season, is not producing the desired results.

Even when we get in a winning position we don’t keep the ball and try to control the game. Warne needs to change his approach and believe that football is also about skill and technique and not all about who can run furthest or fastest.

So the "hero" as another poster calls David Clowes...was wrong not to keep LR in place and our football reflects that 🤷‍♂️

David Clowes is a Derby fan, I am sure he knows all about the history and tradition of this still great club. I am also sure that he must realise that most of our fans want to see football played mostly on the grass and with a style that is easy on the eye. Of course football is a running game and winning is important, but if you can’t win at least play with some skill and style.

Many of our fans grew up in the Clough/Taylor years and I can’t imagine that many of them are happy right now. Sooner or later, if this style of football continues they will vote with their feet and we will lose a good proportion of our fanbase, not just them but their kids and grandkids and the people they bring along.

    We are Derby…

Yeah but come on, he had his 12 games in charge and it was clear he simply didn't understand League One football.

A manager who couldn't get Derby to beat any of Lincoln, Shrewsbury and Fleetwood clearly wasn't the man to take us forward.

    🙃

Please explain how PW has improved matters. Currently 10th in L1 and playing cr*p football?

Funny how some seem to think Rosenior played good football here. Pass, pass, pass, pass, lose ball, concede goal etc etc

Zero goals and points from the first 4 away games last season wasn’t it?

Funny that. I thought that we were in 7th place, only just outside the playoffs and playing good football as opposed to pub football.

LR had only around 10 games and a very small transfer window. PW has had getting on for a full season on charge and 2 transfer windows.

The October international break will be a huge milestone for Warne and his staff.

A full year in charge and if there are no signs of improvement between now and then, how can he possibly stay on?

With no midweek league game until October, there really isn’t any excuses at this point. Plenty of time on the training ground.

I personally don’t think Warne will improve or take us up in what is a weak league.

I’d hedge my bets and say some of the players aren’t even playing for him.

But would DC pull the trigger one year into a 4 year deal?

It would be his first huge call to make

I would say that it would be his second huge call to make
