I cannot understand this constant Roos bashing and in particular the sarcastic cheering when he catches high balls.
I think his general surety when handling an excessive number of back passes has been excellent.  The only times he's really failed with these has been from extremely poor passes in the first place and in the main he plays them well and finds a man - very difficult when some Derby players aren't showing for the ball.
He's a good shot stopper too.
His weakness in addressing high balls must be as apparent to the coaching team as to us and I am sure is something they are addressing in training. He's got a good punch on him and uses it if he's not sure and if we get behind him his confidence and decision making will grow.
Instead of which we get on his back and just make him more apprehensive - I think some of our fans are arrogant brain-dead morons and frankly, get what they deserve.

I don't think he will. I think this fiasco has taken some heat off him, which is strange but it sort of gives him an excuse.
It's a challenge in front of him, that he as manager needs to steer the club away from. I think for someone like Cocu this only strengthens his resolve because a manager has to be a leader of people and good in a crisis. This is his chance to show himself as a manager. Not a coach, not a tactician, not a footballing expert, but a manager. Someone who manages people and problems.
All the luck and support in the world to him. Last thing we want now is to lose him. I'd take losing any player in this squad over losing him in this moment.

There's no exact rule book on this particular sequence of events.
A club may have to deal with a single drink driving incident or a group behaving badly, getting drunk in public etc, gambling, sex related issues, drug use, whatever other problems occur when 20 young (ish) men are working together in such a closed environment as professional football, but rarely has something like this happened on a bloody Tuesday night in Quarndon!
So far, Derby have imo, handled it with the utmost class and honesty.
A fairly short but strong condemnation of the incident but an awareness that all the facts may not be known yet.
Its uncharted territory and whatever happens there will be many who gloat at our situation but as long as Mel Morris and Phillip Cocu continue to act with the utmost integrity and statesmanship they have shown so far, we should let the Courts deal with it, then let the Club deal with it internally and in the meantime get behind our football team and do the only thing we can do to help us get through this.
Some, like me, are old enough to remember the trials and tribulations we've been through at the Baseball Ground like the Clough and Taylor sackings, relegation to Division 3, being about 10 minutes from going out of business, Maxwell, The 3 Amigos, and the outright unbridled joy of winning the League, the Arthur Cox and Jim Smith years and for the younger fans, the recent ups and downs at our new home on the old railway works of Chaddesden sidings. Its been frustrating and brilliant in equal measures since 2013. Thats what it will always be like being a Derby fan.
We've been through worse poo than this and come out of it with our heads held high.
I hope that all in the South Stand, East, West and North, will join me in giving the loudest rendition of WE ARE Derby the stadium has ever heard, not for the players who've let us down, but for Mel and Phil and the ones who only want to give their best for Derby County Football Club.
And for us, for the lads and lasses who turn up week after week, home and away, for us to have that feeling of belonging, that feeling of pride that we support and love our football club, through thick and thin.
Players, Managers and owners come and go, we don't, we're here to stay.

Two things I'd like to talk about.
    1. People saying things like "second thoughts about supporting the club/feeling sick/embarrassed etc". I understand saying that, in the heat of the moment- but remember- at the moment this is 3 (maybe a few more) players doing something unbelievably stupid. 3 players. 3 players are NOT bigger than the club. Even if it's 5 players, 7 players etc. The club is bigger than any number of individuals. "Oh, but the club have backed them to do rehabilitation". Yes - of course they have. There is a limit to what they can say whilst criminal proceedings are underway, but they have already come out and said they will follow an internal disciplinary process. That may involve dismissal (but they can't say that outright), or it may be a suspension etc. - especially whilst the feeling is raw, I wouldn't expect anything concrete to come out. Take Lawrence, for example. None of us know how he's been feeling lately. He's had a tough year, but that doesn't condone what he did. But if he comes out, requests a month or two off, to attend therapy, to get his mind back in the right place, apologises, etc... it would be foolish for the club to say "nope, we've decided, within 18 hours, that you'll never play again for us". Especially as they are currently trying to piece together the evening themselves - they probably know more than us, but they don't know everything yet (at least I highly doubt it). They need to give themselves room for maneuver.

    2. The stick that Huddlestone is getting. Let's separate a few things. What do we know for certain, at this point?
1- That a video was taken, in which Tom can be heard, and Bennett can be seen in a very bad state.
2- that he sent the video, on *SNAPCHAT* of all things to at least one other person, who has given it to the Mirror (for anyone unaware, the way snapchat works is that you send a picture/video to someone, and when they open it, and view it, it deletes it.)
    We don't know
        a) if this was definitely from Tuesday night
        b) what time the video was taken
        c) whose phone was used - was this Mason's phone and Hudds was doing it to teach him a lesson - we don't know?
        d) the reason the video was taken - was it to embarrass him on the Thursday morning at training as a bit of a laugh? - I know I've taken photos/videos of drunk friends to remind them of how foolish they were
        e) How late Huddlestone stayed out
        f) that Huddlestone had any idea that they were going to be stupid later on
        g) That Tom was actually the person who sent the video - again, we don't know whose phone that was
        h) When he sent the video - he may have taken it and sent it to a couple of mutual friends at 7pm - one of said "friends" doesn't see the message until the following morning, and has already heard about the crash - opens it and stores the video with a screen capture program (NB- This is the ONLY way that the Mirror could have got a hold of the video unless Tom sent it to them directly)
        i) Another thing- he could have taken the video, and sent it to Mason ONLY. Mason doesn't look at his phone for obvious reasons - next day, his girlfriend/wife/sibling/concerned friend/opportunistic companion etc finds the video and decides to teach him a lesson.

More information will come out, and initial reactions will calm. Punishments will be given, and taken, and eventually we will all move on.

    Derby County will endure.

I know these players are adults so should be treated as such, but why on earth do you choose to drink recklessly like that when you’re a pro footballer. They get paid all these thousands upon thousands a week to be in tip top shape then they’re out drink stupidly like that in a week we have a game. If you’re going to drink stupidly like that at least do it in the off season- let alone going into a car while in that state..
This is the footballer mentally all over, thinking they’re above the law. I defend these idiots  to my non football liking friends, trying to explain why they get paid as much as they do. If they’re going to act stupidly like this then I just won’t bother. This has made me so angry, give me all the money they do and I won’t touch a drop of alcohol. They can drink all all they want, like James Milner says, when they retire. You don’t even have to do that, just drink sensibly by limiting it to to or three glasses on wine maximum rather than pretending to be a university student who shout LADZ LADZ LADZ. While in your profession, be the best you can, on and off the pitch. Children rightly or wrongly look up to these people, so do players in the Derby youth teams. This has made me more angry as the day has gone on.

This is insane!! Hats off to Mel. He proved himself a visionary with the Lampard appointment and he’s pulled it out the bag again potentially here. Can’t believe we’ve got someone of Cocu’s calibre! And he develops youth favours the same formation and plays a similar style.
Now there are no guarantees and most of us could be eating our words this time next year but if this doesn’t work, I honestly don’t know what else Mel could do!
If you can’t get excited about this then you must be a miserable sod!

How many games would we expect the likes of Sibley, Lowe, and Thomas to be involved in during a Premiership season? For this reason I am excited about next season.
