True. But the fans were giving him abuse before that.
He was talking after the game about how much the Plymouth fans appreciate him down there, and how good it is to know that.
One idiot near me yesterday raised an ironic cheer and clap when Wildsmith caught a high ball just after Wigan's second goal yesterday. Some of our fans are so self-entitled and don't know the meaning of support.

It would be a right kick in the teeth if we wasted time with Waghorn, giving him minutes in friendly games for him then to sign for a rival team.
It would certainly bring into question Paul Warnes 'pull' if a player who has previously played for Derby, lives near Derby and has been training with Derby for 3 weeks goes and signs for a club 2 hours up the road 😆

To me this is a no brainer.
Won't take up much of the budget. Can play across the front line, threat from a set piece. Works his socks off. Loves the club. Confident he would chip in with around 10 goals.
Most clubs in this league would have Waghorn in a heartbeat.
Get him in on a one year deal.

Times have changed. Back in late 90s and early 00s I would know every single player from every single premier league club, thanks to sticker albums, match of the day, football focus,;football italia on TV...etc etc.
Now I'm ashamed to say, j would struggle to name more than 10 players who play for England and 10 is pushing it. If it isn't derby I ain't interested any more.

I think Waghorn returning is a solid bit of business for us in a difficult transfer window where better quality forwards are at a premium.
At this level he should be a real handful for defenders and his positional versatility can see him fitting in quite a few places across the attacking positions

I want him back purely for the romance of it. Rather have Waghorn here, a player who clearly loves us and wants to be here, than someone like Billy Sharp who hates us.

Whilst I wouldn’t be jumping for joy if he returned, he’s 33 years old and this would be the first season in his career outside the top 2 tiers of English football. That’s pretty impressive and you don’t have that kind of career without being a good footballer and a great professional.

Took him 15 seconds to show some real quality yesterday as he danced through their defence in the box. Took less than minutes to also show the endeavour and hard work that Warne will rate winning the ball back in his own half.

He is very technically gifted, more so than the others in our attacking positions despite what some clowns will tell you about his first touch. He’d be excellent as a supporting player in this squad.

and I’ll be honest, I was on the side of ‘don’t go back’. He took less than 5 minutes to change my mind. He looked the sharpest player in our attack when he came on and combined really nicely with Washington.

He'd probably be putting the crosses in. I'm just amazed that after his two short cameos at this level he easily looks as good as Collins. He's smarter, faster and more skilful (ffs what?!), can't see we've anything to lose from giving him a 1 year deal.

The likeliest way of securing the futures of Bird and Cashin at Derby is by getting back to the Championship - so much rests on us having a successful season.

Feel free to move or delete this admin, not sure if its already been posted, just couldnt see it.
Thought the big man deserved his own thread for his game and not just have it crambed in amongst all the other meaningless pre season fixtures.
10 years is incredible in this day an age, two horrible injuries and when u think, “ thats fozzy done - thinking that sheff wednesday game when he had a pig of a game… he bounce's back better than ever.
Will always be remembered fondly but “that” season under mac mk1 he was absolutely sublime. His first time low crosses were an absolute thing of beauty and is half the reason chrissy martin got as many as he did. He must have been a centre forwards dream to play with
hope it goes well for him and theres a good turn out
thanks for the memories foz 🐏🐏

    I wouldn't argue with that.
    We shouldn't go back.
Those that seek to revise history though, like he wasn't one of the best centre forwards in our recent history, need to accept he was actually a very good player, in a very decent team.

Yeah I voted no but back then he was the focal point of the team. And TEAM was what it was. Everyone bringing out the best in others. Martin benefitted greatly from Bryson's overlaps and the pace from the wingers and fullbacks. Meant going tight on Martin wasn't a simple solution to stopping Derby.
Bryson had his best time by far. And that was something he couldn't have done without Martin. As proven by him never looking that good before or since

Darren Bent statistically performed better but realistically we did everything with 10 men while he stood waiting on the penalty spot. Which had its uses
But Martin was more useful than Bent to Derby.

The best thing about Martin wasn't his goals. It was that he brought Hughes, Hendrick, Bryson, Ward and Russell into the game, into the attacking third and facing the right way.
There's no stats that show that.

I actually think Chrissy would still do a decent job in League One. Can hold up the ball, brings others into play and knows where the back of the net is. Surely would be a welcome addition looking at our current options.

Not to get involved in the debate, but Vydra did very little at Premier League level and @jimbobram was clearly referring to performances in a Derby shirt and not Bent's career before he came to us.

I can understand the frustrations of peoples opinions on re signing CM, however he is the best striker we have had at the club in the last 20 years, maybe even 30. He deserves a bit of respect.

Imagine CM playing, and part of the half time entertainment is him signing a contract.
Half the ground cheering, half booing and this site implodes?

Is this a last minute ploy to pull in the punters or a badly communicated plan all along?
This is exactly what people wanted from a testimonial (and more players besides), and if this had been part of the marketing, we’d have shifted lots more tickets for Foz.
