YorkshireRam reacted to Ghost of Clough in 2024 loans out
He wasn't 'mentally' ready for first team football prior to this loan to be fair. It was obvious he had the physicality to cope, and his goal record at youth level showed he had that killer instinct. However, when given his brief chances in the first team, he looked lost.
The only way for him to overcome it was from game time, and I think it was reasonable to give him starts in Cup competitions. Unfortunately, he never got those chances.
It still took him a few sub apps to get over that mental block when at Gateshead. His first goal was just what he needed to get going. Is it 8 goals and 2 or 3 assists in his last 7 games?

This. Despite pre match ales the nerves will no doubt be palpable and feed through to the players. Fans will have to steady them, players need 100% backing.

Why are people preferring Ward over Wilson at RB? Neither are defensively amazing but Wilson has looked more solid there to my eyes (and gives away less penalties).
Playing Wilson at fullback gives him the space to use his greatest strength- progressive dribbling, whilst Ward as a winger would still be able to utilise his crossing. Given that Wilson sometimes lacks end product, this way round seems more sensible to me?

Potentially, I can't recall that particular game though. CBT starting is integral for me, agreed. I'm really quite nervous about this game, won't lie.

Think he's still got a big part to play. There will be a lot of pressure in the games ahead, and he's played in a lot of big games.

This season we've seen more contributions from the whole squad rather than a reliance on one or two. Lots of us said that would need to be the case after losing Didzy and Hourihane had absolutely played his part. He also clearly fits the profile of a Warne player - determined, cares, supports his team mates and shows up when the chips are down.
I'd be inclined to think carefully about which games he starts, so that we can make the best use of what he's got left in the tank and throw him on to get the winner if we need to.
He will contribute to the points total at some point over the next 7 games. He could end up being the difference.

Lol yeah the famous Rotherham promotions squad, full of quality players we could only dream of. They are like the new class of 92, the household names just roll off the tongue.

The only optimistic thing to note is the DCFC twitter account tweeting about 'Don't fall in love with a loan player' a few weeks back which a few interpreted as being a coy way of hinting they may be a permanent clause in the deal?

I missed this in real time at the game, but watching the highlights back- the way he celebrates so passionately after winning the penalty is quality. Show's he already really cares and wears his heart on his sleeve. Nice to see!

    ATG:

1Wildsmith - 6.5 - Relatively quiet apart from the goal which I can't blame him for.
35Nelson - 7 - So impressive aerially. Commanding performance the norm for him now.
5Bradley - 6.5 - Could have done better for the goal but not a disastrous error. Decent otherwise.
2Wilson - 6.5 - Couple of nice dribbling moves and wasn't troubled defensively often.
6Cashin - 7 - Dealt with everything he had to.
23Ward - 7.5 -  Another assist proving his deliveries are great to have in our attacking arsenal.
27Blackett-Taylor - 6 - Probably needs a goal but there are glimpses of potential.
32Adams - 7.5 - Great energy again, interspersed with some good passing.
4Hourihane - 6.5 - Decent first half but faded in the 2nd. Fantastic penalty, however- uber composed
12Smith - 6.5 - Looks loads better recently, a great addition to have for the run-in
17Sibley - 6 - Early shot should have been on target. Defended okay against a good winger in Azeez.
7Barkhuizen - 7 - Involved heavily in offensive link up play and made far more of an impact as a result. Should have squared the ball earlier for Waghorn though.
25Gayle - 8 - Such an intelligent player, but won a surprising amount of flick-on headers as well, showing different sides to his game. Looking seriously impressive.
10Waghorn - 6 - Got himself in decent areas, can't blame him for not scoring, great point blank save from their keeper.
    11Méndez-Laing - 6 - Quiet day for NML
    3Forsyth - 6.5 - Great to see him back
