They want him in the shop window I guess. Take a hit on wages to get nearer the £10m mark next summer. Knows he can cut it in this league and will play all season for us (and get plenty of opportunities to impress.)_
I'm almost tempted to put money on him being our leading scorer too.
Feeling Tomori vibes. Can we get Mount '24 and Wilson '24 over the line too? Who needs strikers.

Rample reacted to BondJovi in Academy Thread 2024/2025
The only thing I heard behind the scenes regarding DW was it being seen as a doddle, jobs for the boys type thing. Whether that was a result of MM or not I don't know.
As for the pathway. This remains an area of PWs management that concerns me. I say this purely as an outsider. But if you look at the minutes given to academy players under PW it is shockingly low. He has had opportunites to give minutes and turned it down. I would be amazed if we give out many minutes this season to any academy player other than Brown. When you consider the minutes that Palace afforded to Ozoh last season, and Wolves to Chirewa, that sort of time should be happening with our own players.
You could make the argument that there isn't anyone really ready, but even so I think we should be showing to the outside that we give chances. I always believed that once DC confirmed the keeping of Cat1, we would be in a great position to give plenty of chances as we aren't under the same pressures as the premier league teams. I saw that this might give us the edge over other Cat1 academies. But it seems that isn't the case. From a financial view point, it makes no sense to invest in a cat1 and not utilise some of those players to fill out the squad. But also we are then not putting any in the shop window to potentially sell. We could save on wages and make money from any sales. Let us not forget that our u21s are competing with the likes of Wolves, Man City and so and just about holding their own. Why does the manager trust players from those clubs but not our own?
The Barrow game was a great example of the concerns I have. Collins should not have started that game. There should have been more players from the academy on the bench.
Whilst I enjoyed the approach Cocu took, I am not asking that much of a change for cup games, but that straight away showed a huge amount of faith. It will be very interesting to see how Brown is used between now and January, it is a great opportunity for him, but also a huge chance for PW to show trust and faith in our youth. I just don't see a long term plan in this area. It still feels like a first team and everything below that is a seperate entity. The Wolves cup game last year should have been the stepping board but we wasted it.
Just my thoughts. Would love for PW to prove me wrong because I enjoy so much else of his management.

    Very nice. Well done DCFC.
Zetterstrom with some important touches to stop the game turning away from us - after a week where I've been saying the money should have been spent on a striker, I take it back.
Don't think Bristol offered a lot in midfield, gave Goudmijn more time than he's been allowed so far and he really grew into the game and exploited it. Will be very different when he's got someone on him, but he showed much more strength than I expected at times too.
Ozoh. I think from day 1 you could tell he had the ability, but today he also managed to impose himself. By the end you could see the confidence absolutely flowing.
Yates, man of the match for me, those 4 flicks and some of the link up play! He's an sharp player and I second whoever said if we'd brought him in yesterday we'd all be more confident and happy with our signings.
Jackson, somehow our major goal threat, keep it up lad.
We won't do this every week, Bristol are not a Watford/Boro level team, but I really enjoyed that and it shows me we can survive in this league. Might even have what it takes to put a few little runs together and lift us to mid-table. Shame the international break has come along to stop the momentum.
Number of points on the board higher than I expected at this point in time too.

    Now that’s more like it!
Grew into the game after a slow start and there were some brilliant performances across the team.
All of the concerns about not buying a striker should be calmed by how Yates played, he’s an intelligent player.
Ozoh is starting to look like a Man City player now, I could go on.
Hopefully we get the injured players back ready to kick on from this.

As much as I miss the days where opposing Championship fans said things like, "beaten by a better side today, no shame in it." when we won, I'm thoroughly enjoying the new, "How the hell did we lose to THAT squad?!" comments.
Really enjoyable watch today. Good performance, multiple potential Men of The Match. Could have easily been a far larger scoreline, could've also been much tighter without the work of Zetterstrom and the defense.
Play (after the 20th minute) like that every week and we'll be playing in the Prem next season 🤭 - I'll still take 21st, though, at this time.

Everything is undisclosed these days, but...
Telegraph says we got £2.7 m from Bogle, Kellyman and Delap. Breaking that down I'd imagine Kellyman was full payment as if was a financial thing, Sheffield United probably made sure it was all up front for Bogle, but Ipswich won't have paid all up front for Delap so I'd say we can knock that down to £2m in the bank.
Players we've signed for fees, again undisclosed, Zetterstrom I've heard £1.4m-£2.2m, Adams I've heard £500k-£1m and even if its the top end I suspect a fair amount is based on clauses being met, Goudmijn seems widely reported as £600k.  I've no doubt the extra income is solely responsible for the Zetterstrom fee. So we've probably spent £2.5m on permanent deals.
They pretty much cancel each other out.
The Wilson, Washington and Fornah deals all had clauses I believe, and whilst some may be appearnce based I reckon promotion will have activated something - probably a couple of hundred thousand there.
I imagine all incoming loans are largely fee free - Ozoh and Chirewa is mutually beneficial for their development. Yates is probably a case of getting him off the wage bill to allow the money to be spent elsewhere. Harness would be unlikely to make Ipswich's final squad with both Clark and Ogbene joining in the past week. Phillips... well who knows? No permanent moves arose and he probably wouldn't have had a place allocated so he was farmed out into the shop window.
I'm sure that money is apportioned to specific pots but signing on fees, wage increases and such like may cause those pots to be moved around a bit.
In short, yes I think all our budget including the extras have been eaten up. Harness' wages are probably what was earmarked for a striker. We might be able to scrape a few quid left for a free agent purely out of necessity.

Anyone think that to find a 9 we may have to do what we have done in finding Kenzo and Zetterstrom. Taking a bit of a chance on a cheaper European player that has the attributes we want and hoping those attributes hold up in the Championship.

I would argue that Jebbison would’ve been a poor signing for what we wanted/needed. Despite the size of him, the way he plays means he may as well be Peschisolido’s height.

Isn't it amazing how even now after the show has been off air for years you can hear that guys booming voice announcing some random name. Couldn't tell you what they looked like, sounded like or if they won, but still as soon as you said it "Raaaaachel Adedeeeeeeeeeeeji" reverberated around my head. She lives somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind nestled somewhere inbetween Tomasz Hajto, Darren Currie and Danny Tetley!
