You all know I find writing therapeutic by now right? Loneliness and if ANYONE ever feels like this, drop me a message and I'll be there like a shot.
    Nobody visits because Nobody cares.
Nobody asks How are you? because Nobody dares.
    Nobody writes and Nobody calls
Nobody worries how far he falls.
He’s Nobodies lover and Nobodies true friend
He has Nobody to keep fighting for, right until the end
He’s found himself being somebody Nobody chose,
Nobody thinks of and Nobody knows.
There’s Nobody with him as he eventually falls asleep
And Nobodies there again to dry the tears he can’t help but weep.
Nobody by his side, Nobody in his bed.
Nobody to turn to when he gets those thoughts in his head.
Now he recognises Nobody to be his best friend.
And he needs Nobody to help his heart mend.
He wants Nobody to come around for a talk.
And he waits for Nobody to take him out for that walk.
He knows Nobody is the one he can trust
And he’ll talk to Nobody as often as he must.
Nobody makes him laugh , Nobody makes him cry.
Nobody makes him get up in the morning and Nobody tells him why.
Thank God for Nobody. Where would he be without you?

I find it staggering, upsetting and worrying that someone is sending him private messages and would love to see more forum members come out and post that it's wrong and needs to be stopped pal.
I think whoever it is who is doing it needs to see that the forum community won't tolerate that kind of response to what is basically a set of folk chatting baalocks on the internet.
I've given my name out, I've posted videos, I've told folk where I live so they know what I look like and NOT ONCE in all of my time on here has anyone ever sent me an intimidating or threatening private message and if they did I'd be both pissed off and probably a little bit frightened.
There is no way @Igorlegend11 should have to worry about that kind of thing just because he has views that some people disagree with. Igor, you NEED to report it to admin. I know for a fact they would put a stop to that kind of behaviour straight away.

I think you're assuming people look into policies as much as you do. ( most don't and we're possibly worse off because of that)
I'm fairly sure most people don't go through a parties manifesto line by line and think hang on a bit, the defence budget has gone up from 28 billion to nearly 50 billion since 2000. Are we getting value for money and if not who should I vote for.
Labours manifesto in 2017 indicated we would renew Trident and we'd carry on spending 2% of GDP on defence.
Is there an alternative? Has any party come out and said they'd dramatically reduce spending on defence AND push for a global reduction.
Chomsky again, this time on the doomsday clock. Before Trump was elected it was set to 2 and half minutes to midnight.
It's currently at 2 minutes to midnight, the closest we've been to Doomsday since 1945 and Hiroshima/Nagasaki and the early 80's.
Apparently when they meet to review it again there is an expectation they'll move it forward another 30 seconds.
It's not about "defence", it's about being able to threaten and posture.

OK, so I know I'm a bit blah blah blah and I know probably only 3 or 4 of you will even read it, never mind pay attention to the message.
I just looked at the profit per employee ratio of the top 100 British companies. (PPE)
For the purpose of my own tiny mind, I decided on a cut off point of £50,000 PROFIT per employee.
Then I just had to drop one company lower than that because it was HSBC in 63rd place but they have 229,000 employees so we too big to skip.
From the top company which is 3i who make a staggering £5 MILLION PROFIT PER EMPLOYEE (281) down to HSBC who make a "modest" £49,284 PROFIT PER EMPLOYEE.
The top 63 companies employ 2 million 22 thousand 146 people between them. They average £261,527 PROFIT PER EMPLOYEE.
There are 36 UK companies who make over £100,000 profit per employee.
What would be fair? a 0.5% PPE tax?
So even if you go for the company making the lowest PPE which is HSBC and you use that as a guide for all of the other and charge them a £250 per employee "surplus tax"
That would generate an annual sum of £505 million, 536 thousand 500 quid.
If we took it a stage further forward and charged an average of 0.5% per employee per company (from profit remember)
That would generate 2 Billion 664 million 228 thousand, 884 pounds and  71 pence PER YEAR.
The rich would still be keeping 99.5% of all profit made. You tax the company, not the employees.
Imagine the difference that could make to education, healthcare, welfare.
There is NO WAY it is justifiable for those companies to extort their own employees to such a level and all it shows is how the general labour force are indeed slaves to their masters. There simply is no other way to put it. The profit generated by the general labour force is obscene and it's a real world issue that the wealthy are pocketing the difference on such a grand scale.

However my views have come across over these last couple of weeks, (since the debate got a bit weird and certainly less reasonable) I fully agree that the EU isn't the type of "club" I'd like to be part of going forward IF we can get similar or better conditions on our own.
I see them as incompetent and I see them as corrupt. Without even trying I bet I could find 50 billion quids worth of projects they've funded then abandoned. Without even trying.
I would probably like us to be out eventually but the fact we tied ourselves to them and the fact trying to untie that isn't as easy as we were told it would be, means I'd prefer to stay until we sort out how to leave without setting us backwards, the ones who will go backwards quicker won't be he rich and they'll make damn sure of that.
For me neither our government nor any EU collective has got the set of balls needed to sort out the mess at the lower level and my own view - which may come from the land of the fairies and may be idealistic is this.
The EU are NOT the cause of our own social issues though, they are just being used as a convenient scapegoat.
We COULD get our own house in order easily enough wihout leaving.
If we lift the bottom few, then everyone will benefit and I don't buy for one second that the money isn't there to make it happen within an instant.
I'll be back on with another of my garbage "imagine all the people" views in about half an hour. This one for me is even more of a no brainer than the one I posted on the PROFIT made by defence manufacturers. It is really pissing me off that there is such a divide when there doesn't need to be and I'm not on about "ending child poverty" I'm only talking about reducing the gap. I've got some interesting stats but need 20 minutes to pick myself up after falling off my chair.
To quote Arnie Shwarzenegger chatting to Sly Stallone before deciding what to wear for a fancy dress party where the them is  "famous composers"

    Isn't it a democratic vote ? 😉
If they win the world cup I'd be surprised (but not disappointed( if the Ladies won team of the year. The lasses have been superb and have broken down a lot of barriers this year.
The overall issue of course is in the coverage.
The fact the Woman's World Cup was on the BBC meant the entire country was able to watch it, the fact that up until now the CWC has been on Sky means it's a drastically reduced audience and there's nowt like watching a game on TV to help you get behind the buzz.
Was it 6.5 million who watched the Lionesses in the Semi's> Compare that to how many were able to watch Sky today.
Fair play to Sky for opening up the Final but I think there is a massive case for putting ANY World Cups. European Championships or Olympics on terrestrial TV.
    Oh and by the way.
    It's coming home 😉

Doubt it. 4th place wasn't what the BBC thought would happen. They definetly had them in the final and possibly winning it at the start.

    Yip, jobs come and go.
The only problem with your model is that the jobs that will come will be minimum wage in large warehouses that stock these cheap forgein goods, and the ones lost will be our manufacturing industry.
Logistics companies will lose from the manufacturing decline but will pick up transporting the new influx of overseas products. They will be squeezed because they will have no option but to accept the powerful new supplier terms.
Consumers will have more choice, true, but with less £ in their pocket.
Actually, some people do care about other peoples jobs. Shed a tear isnt the best phrase to use, there was many tears shed.

I think it will be a huge mistake to crash out with a no deal. I think it will be a huge mistake not to have a second vote.
Unfortunately pal, I'm not in charge.
I should probably have put my "for the sake of democracy" line in ironic speech marks.
In terms of anti democracy, that's one stick the leave voters would be able to beat the country over a stick with though.
A democracy SHOULD be allowed to change it's mind, hell we get the chance to vote for a new Prime Minister every 5 years so having another opportunity to vote for something you think you got wrong last time around is nothing new.
The stick that could legitimately be used is that the democratic will of the people was never implemented first time around.
That's why I think we've just got to bite whatever bullet we need to bite and get on with it. I am genuinely terrified at what we've been voted into doing to our own people though.

ronnieronalde reacted to Highgate in The Politics Thread 2019
I understand and respect that viewpoint but I don't agree with it.
Firstly I think there could be winners in the second referendum,  Imagine if a No Deal Brexit won.  That would be it surely. No more arguments, the path forward should be clear.  If Remain were to win, I agree with you that would be difficult.  Those, who voted leave, could argue with a great deal of legitimacy that even though a No Deal lost to Remain in a referendum that doesn't mean that a Brexit with a Deal would Lose to Remain ....so the debate and division would rumble on.  So certainly the simplest solution would be if No Deal were to win the Second Referendum.
What I can't agree with is the notion that a second referendum would be somehow anti-democratic. Given that the Brexit that people are now facing is quite unlike the Brexit they thought they were voting for, it may well be that public opinion is against a No Deal Brexit. For that reason I think the UK must be absolutely sure before it takes the decision of leaving the EU with No Deal that that is what the public wishes. Therefore I see a second referendum as a expression of democratic principles rather than a betrayal of them.
