Reading back over the comments about the leadership motivational stuff both sides of the argument for and against it are right to a degree. Much of it has been researched extensively and a lot of what it says about people is true. As to whether it makes a difference boils down to two things:-
    1. The leader’s truly believes that it’s not primarily self interest driving  his/her motivation and has absolute belief it will improve his/her team collectively
    2. The members of the team are willing to open up to it and rebalance their own self interest and ego to engage with the process.
As other’s have pointed out a lot of people’s experience is of execs using this stuff as a charade to further their own career or manipulate stakeholders to believe they’re something they’re not. The flip side of this is there are authentic leaders out who do use it and believe in it, and have to navigate (and sometimes brutally dispose of) cynical, hate change, know more than anyone else types. These are often the sort of people who say they could have been a oxbridge candidate or they’re  a hidden genius to the wider world but for some strange reason society are yet to recognise them. I often think a number of the raging egos who are patrons of this forum disproportionately fall into this category.
Don’t get me wrong as I leave more road behind me than I have ahead of me, I hear the things Warne saying and the cynical side of my brain starts to question the guy and the things he is saying. An inescapable fact is that there would have been  number of Derby fans with the exact same emotions when Clough, Cox, Smith & Davies (yes Billy) were appointed and not liking the cut of their jib.

Over the last couple of days there has been a lot of talk that Warne is all about fast and direct football. I don’t think there is a player in our squad who fits that description better than NML

I’m looking forward to the turn of the 2030’s when we are still fighting to escape the clutches of the English 3rd division.  David Clowes has been run out of the city for his megalomaniac tendencies as the Rams have just sacked their up and coming manager Jamie Ward, who was appointed after Ilkeston Town‘s meteoric rise to the Championship. After the possession based football of the ‘Ward’ era a number of supporters are demanding  to return to a faster and more direct brand of football, with the clamour to appoint 81 year old Neil Warnock reaching fever pitch. With the departure of ‘Deadly Dave Clowes’ rumours circulate that a consortium led by Jeremy Keith & Chris Kirchner are circling to buy the club and Billy Davies has announced his intention to throw his hat in the ring for the vacant managers position as he has unfinished business. In light of such drama on and off the pitch a member of the unofficial Derby County fans forum ‘DCFC Fans’ posts a topic entitled ‘If Rosenior was appointed Manager?’ The site owner David then decides to execute the site’s self destruction protocol following the first response to the topic which said “We should never have bloody got rid of Nigel”. This leaves members of the fans site to retreat to Facebook fan pages, the comments section of the DET and Radio Derby’s Sportscene talk in the fill the meaningless empty void in their life’s that is papered over occasionally by talking about the trials and tribulations of Derby County.

I thought we were effective in the first half but that was a poor 2nd half from us and you can’t say Plymouth didn’t deserve that. The energy in midfield was very low and whilst Bird had some really nice forward passes he is struggling to stamp his authority on games. I thought him and Hourahaine were overshadowed by the Plymouth midfield.

I know Knight has played well at RB but that midfield was crying out for his energy today. Other posters have pointed out previously about Horahaine’s goal involvements but I’ve been quite underwhelmed by him so far.

I think most posts have credited them with being a decent team and deserving of the win. If most of us are being honest 2-0 at HT was probably a flattering scoreline.

I suggested at half-time Knight would need to move into midfield for Hourihane or at least alongside. Mismanaged the second half on the pitch and from the bench, I can’t help but feel if Smith had been fit that may have played out differently.
Gutted to have lost that one, however it’s still early in the season and Plymouth are a good side at this level. Got to take the lessons, learn from them and move onto the next one.

I think he's a good player. Not sure him and Bird is going to give you control against the better sides unless there's someone with more energy in there too. DMcG is a great player but more of a 10 than an 8, so to speak

I agree, I have been really dissapointed by him so far, was expecting a lot more from him considering his pedigree. I think this maybe down to us have a Bird + Hourihane in midfield, I don't think it works.

I’m not sure what to say after that, the tactics and set up were good. We had a 20 minute spell in the 2nd half where we just kept going long which lost our momentum and then we went back to our normal game in the last 15 minutes and started creating chances. The players have to take responsibility for not getting it in the net today, I can’t see how you can criticise the manager or coaching staff.

Hourihane comments about us needing to wise up and influence ref’s in the game are interesting. I noticed him berating Bird to get up to the ref as the Captain and get in his ear after a poor decision.
