Yes a choice of watching 10-12 minutes of ads every hour or paying good money for subscriptions to a digital channel that you watch maybe once or twice a week. Time will tell whether Netflix and the like have a future. Would help if they made a profit!

Give him Mason Mount, Harry Wilson and Tomori & see what he could do - & also don't take over mid season when you are rock bottom of the league
He had a much worse deal than Lampard (or Cocu for that matter) & he has damaged his own reputation by giving it a go.
However, whether he'll eventually be a good manager remains to be seen. Just 1 point from our previous 6 games would have put us in a much stronger position right now

I think it is fair to say that the prospective new owner is very much his own man and won't want or have any need for a former owner there causing any potential distress or interference.

Regarding Rooney’s leaving, I remember when Brian Clough left. I was distraught. Thought we would be relegated, never win anything again. How wrong was I? So Rooney’s gone. Tough. But we’ll have a new manager. Who knows he might be better.

All based on the wording in the statement that Mel backed the takeover. Of course he backs it, he’s sold his stadium.
People getting on the back of our potential saviour, can’t get my head around it.

Life as a Derby fan eh?
Got out of a meeting, read Clowes' statement, I actually laughed. Not because it was funny, or ridiculous in any way but I couldnt help it. Perhaps just a release of stress. This feels different. He may not complete, but we are in the right direction. Spent the day smiling, and thinking if we get through the rest quick Rooney must have 10 or so names lined up ready, some of real quality (for L1 anyway). Even Palace might pay a mutually agreeable fee for Ebiowi when I was convinced we'd get zero or 15k or something. There was light at the end of the tunnel, go to the gym and enjoy - heck even the gym has got the cricket on. Everythings coming up Chopper!
Yeah that light at the end of the tunnel, oncoming train wasn't it?
Hopefully Clowes completes and hires a Chief Exec with a real footballing brain. Been listening to the Derby County story on Radio Derby. Webb and Cox, massive in getting out of Division 3 it seems. Football man in the boardroom, and someone with L1 knowhow in the big chair.

We are also removing the baggage  - millstone - of the 32Red deal for Rooney, which Colin Gibson on Radio Derby labelled as one of the former owner's 'stunts'.
That makes sense and perhaps Clowes also wanted rid of that 'legacy', much less, renew it. We may be seeing some clarity and logic in the way that Clowes wants to rebuild the club on a realistic footing.
We need DC's deal to get over the line, and pronto.

Well spotted. So that would suggest that DC has taken over the loan and that MSD have agreed to continue it, so reducing the need for ready cash to pay it off at this stage..However, both DC and the EFL in statements refer to the sale and purchase of the stadium so it clearly has changed hands.

When we hopefully get to the end of this complete shambles, it is to be hoped that the truth comes out and we get a chance to hear the facts about how the club, its supporters and staff have been badly let down.

Absolutely bizarre that the EFL have said they should be defended as football debts without even seeing the cases.
Does anyone actually believe any of the tripe that they come out with?

MikeS reacted to Woodley Ram in Poll: Do you think Boro & Wycombe will take Mel on?
The information from all is a little misleading. I like what Mel said but we are in the brown stuff because of him.

i would like somebody to explore the relationship between the EFL and Middlesbrough, by that I mean a proper investigation and potentially a criminal one if they have colluded. If the EFL do something with the intention of gaining money for Middlesbrough that should not have been paid then that is fraud (and yes I do know my criminal law). The reason I say that is what appears to be the EFL’s insistence on Derby effectively paying 0ff Middlesbrough and Wycombe before they can come out of administration. When at a tribunal they would have not have had to. Interesting fact here in a criminal court Gibson would have no chance with his claim.

it’s interesting that Mel said the timetable for arbitration was May 2022 and that Middlesbrough had trimmed part of an EFL clause to suit their means. If so why have the EFL not dealt with that. It’s also interesting that the EFL made a decision on the football debt issue without knowing the facts (their words). I think if proven it is a football debt until then it’s not a debt at all.

The stance, late statements and the closeness of theirs and the Middlesbrough statements worries me unless they see them say 48 hours in advance. They also both seem to have a similar tone which is worrying unless there is something that we really don’t know and is earth shattering.
im not convinced that the administrators have handled this very well and I think Gibson et al should be in the hands of a lawyer, perhaps we can crowd fund for one? If I was DCFC and Mel I would consider taking the EFL and potentially Middlesbrough to court if what they have said is untrue.
The administration of FFP has always worried me, it dosnt seem to have any firm rules and is administrated on the whim of the EFL without taking into account any precedents that have been set with previous penalties. The Reading, Derby and Birmingham ones are very different. Now we have the likelihood of clubs being allowed to include potential transfers into Covid losses, isn’t this worse than the amortisation that Derby were punished for?  How can you value a future transfer, or it’s loss? Isn’t the loss down to a clubs operating model that they spend on the basis of potentially getting a windfall from selling a player? If they don’t in a covid season or not they breach FFP?
I agree with Mel about parachute payments, they should be to cover large wages on relegation not enable clubs to have a £20m head start in buying players that we not otherwise have signed.
we need anew regulator and fast and it needs to be independent for everyone’s sake.

I think the EFL stated that it has to either go to arbitration or be pursued through the courts. Mr Morris has offered not only a solution for the EFL to get themselves out of deep hole (that they have dug) he is also calling Gibson or Couhigs bluff.
