It’s a bit sad when people have to blame someone for their actions or look for someone or something to blame. If people actually took responsibility for their own actions things would be a lot better.

How can the Gov put John Newton on the press conference today with zero data to show on track and trace so far. They don’t help themselves at times.
Secondly if you come into contact with someone but show no symptoms you’re not going to sit at home and self isolate especially if it costs you money. Absolutely you need to be given a test which the Gov are not doing.
What would be much smarter is if a test and tracker phoned up and could book the appointment at the same time!!

I think that it will save more lives in the long run the way things have panned out. Accidental, fortunate or planned.
Austerity led to the early loss of how many in 9 years? We might be on the brink of the worst recession ever. 100,000's potentially losing lives due to future lack of funding, present delays in cancer treatment and other ailments.
I support us coming out of lockdown fully. Because I care about lives. And I feel this is the best way to prevent a lot more losses. But it's only my opinion
As for the sniping.....the ban trigger is being squeezed.

Not sure that's @Norman decision eddie and I don't think he's advocating economy over lives none of us are. It's a fine judgement call I wouldn't want to make.

It seems to me that nobody knew what was expected off them when we were told to 'stay alert', then all of a sudden everyone knew exactly what the rules were when the Dominic Cummings thing kicked off and now we've moved onto 'well he did it...'
When I was a lad my mum always used to ask me whether 'I'd jump off a cliff if all my friends did' turns out that was good advice, whilst everyone else goes to the beach and potentially gets sick the rest of us with a modicum of common sense will carry on social distancing.
The government has never had us in total lockdown like some other places, rightly or wrongly they have always relied on people to do the right thing.

It's not just you. It's been great for me. Nobody coming into contact with me and definitely no hugging beyond her indoors and the kids.
People talk about a low contact world. My world has always been like that. I'm a 53-year-old English bloke. Continuing on that theme, I spent an hour on the phone with my father yesterday talking about 1950s westerns because we can't talk about anything important. It is the longest conversation I have had with my father for about 30 years.
    Lockdown is great.

My understanding is if you test positive you must isolate for 7 days anyone who lives with you but isn’t showing symptoms must isolate for 14 day. They may be able to get tested too.

Over the last 48 hours a few things have happened forum wise, which has made me think and persuaded me to put my thoughts down.
Overall I consider us to be a generally happy, easy going community, and I know compared to other football forums this one is right up there for being a welcome space to share thoughts (whether it be about the Rams or a great many other subjects). Not perfect, but pretty damn good all the same.
One of the things that made me think was a brief one-to-one discussion between @David and myself as we waited for other quiz members to join us last Saturday. I hope David that you don’t mind me sharing (and this is not verbatim, just my broad recollection) but asking after his welfare one of the things he said was that there are too many times he gets stressed having to wake to see what shitstorm might have occurred on the forum during his period of downtime. In fact he suggested his period of downtime has increased recently as a consequence.
There have been a couple of other private matters too, which I will not share, but it has pulled some strings together for me.  I think also joining the forum gathering on a Saturday afternoon has been beneficial, as you realise what really nice people share in our community. Pop in sometime and join in with the chat and quiz.
Anyway, a point I wanted to make was that an Internet forum can dehumanise individuals if you let it. Behind the keyboard is an individual who you do not know, or if you do it’s perhaps not very well. That individuals life will not be perfect, whose is? But for each who post it is a perhaps a space that they use to get away from the pressures or humdrum of real life. Each individual might have some concerns, anxieties, ill health, money problems, work issues, family difficulties, etc., etc. We don’t know do we? What is likely is that the last two months might only have increased the concerns and anxieties, and we should be mindful of that as we read posts, and respond to posts.
Now I am no saint, I know that. I can be acerbic at times and posters might not like my idea of humour. I also like to yank a few chains, but it is typically of individuals who I think I have got to know over the years. But I am going to think more in the coming weeks of what I post, and I am encouraging others to do so too. Take a few seconds more before pressing that send button.
Ok, < group hug > and as you were.

Not all care homes were sloppy. My mother's went into lockdown in February due to Flu/Nora virus and stayed there. Staff were not tested for quite a while, but have now and are all negative. PPE of sorts was used but when my mother developed a temperature they did the full isolation in her room, mega ppe at every visit. Fortunately she recovered fully. After 2 weeks they opened her doors again.
They now have uniforms that are changed and washed every day. so far no virus outbreaks! No plans to open up.

Didn’t come back immediately as I went for a walk. Your remarks in my view are political, but that doesn’t matter as long as they are in the right thread. Plenty of time for political views, of all persuasion, that way I might forms a balanced opinion on matters.  Nothing entrenched about me.

As for you continuing to bash the Government for keeping you in the house for 10 weeks why do you keep perpetuating that myth?  You have had the same freedoms as everyone else over the same period. You could of gone out of the house for exercise for an hour. You could have done essential shopping, or gone the Chemist, etc. Whilst you were strongly advised to remain in the house because of pre-existing medical conditions that put you at more danger to the virus, no one told you to not leave your house (and to keep bleating about it). Glad you are making your first steps out, but give it a bit of a rest that you are some modern day Steve McQueen.
