I just finished the Putin interview.
It's as expected. His contempt for an independent Ukraine is obvious. The first hour is hushed Imperial claims and I'm not sure what else you could pass it off as. Why else give the history lesson. Still think it's worth listening to so you can make up your mind whether you're listening to a man freeing the world of Nazi collaborators or a man trying to piece together an empire.
I mean it's just the other side of the coin. It's not a lie. It's his truth. As America peddles their truth. Convenient historical facts. Convenient omissions.
There has been a squeeze on Russia. There's bots that peddle the idea that America blesses us all with freedom and democracy but come on. Give it up.
It's hard to pick which Imperialistic BS takes the moral high ground so I'm going to say neither. We all want peace. That's why we have the tanks, the missiles and jets and 100,000 troops in your garden
I think International Law is like VAR. Nice idea but you only really want to acknowledge it when it's working for you.

I love posts like this as men seldom "out " their feelings and sometimes the feeling of belonging is the start you need.
I met Mostyn many years back via another forum (rj) and a meet up at the Brewery Tap pub along with Mucker and others, he is a top bloke and I am so glad to hear your life is now shaping up.
As a man of a certain vintage, dealing with family issues aplenty, prostate problems, retirement issues etc, I can offer some insight into many of life's traumas as I have probably already been there.
For me retirement from a busy business, proved to be far more traumatic than I had first envisaged. Wifey encouraged me to try an allotment as I have always had a keen interest in growing stuff.
At first I was dubious thinking I was just exchanging one type of work for another. Anyways on the principle "it cant hurt to try"I got my name down and eventually got my first half plot. Two years on I have 3 further plots and a group of friends with similar age and outlooks.
The improvement in my mental and physical well being is immeasurable, and whilst I doubt it would suit some people, the principal of joining in with the group of any activity can provide a focus and an outlet. We usually have coffee together around ten each day and get stuck in to all kinds of topics. Once we have put the world to rights its back to the weeding lol.
Just hope you can all enjoy your later life as much as I am, and don't  be shy about meeting people, they will welcome you warmly into the group in most cases 🦍

You could argue that so are the rest of us. Every one of us on here has been born into relative privilege, compared with the vast majority of people in the world.

    Automatics - I don't mind which.
At the start of the season, I said that it was our third spell in the third tier, and in the two previous times, we had got promotion at the second attempt, and I saw no reason at all why this season should be any different to the others.
You can analyse points per game until you are blue in the scrotum for all I care. The fact that Posh and Notlob were on good runs means nothing - both have to pick themselves up after disappointing results today.
Derby, according to a few of you, are faltering, because we've only picked up 10 points in the last 5 games. Well, so have Portsmouth, so have Bolton, so have Peterborough and so have Barnsley. The 'form' team, if there is one, is Stevenage. 4 wins in 5. Or, at a stretch, Leyton Orient with 4 wins and a draw.
I think we'll be ok. That might be my boundless optimism, strange drugs or alcohol speaking, but it's a darned sight better than the inane, depressing drivel that is churned out on here when we win, let alone lose.

Honestly some of our fans are genuinely awful. The sense of entitlement some of them have is absolutely staggering.
Yesterday was all about winning. The performance didn't matter. We're absolutely littered with injuries. Booking them off at half time? Who's that helping?
Cheering the captain when he's subbed off?
It's absolutely ridiculous it really is.
Now I'm seeing "Blackett-Taylor hadn't really shown anything yet" he's been here 5 minutes, trained with us twice. I despair I really do.
All I hear is "we aren't good enough, Peterborough are better than us, Bolton are better than us"
Says who? Of course Peterborough were brilliant when they came here. But that was the same Peterborough side we put 4 past on their own ground? Bolton also just scraped past Cheltenham, Bolton lost at Leyton Orient.
Oxford fans watching us that second half at their ground would have thought we were the best team in the league, we were outstanding.
You cannot play well every week.

The figures you mentioned were not really what I meant by very wealthy and perhaps there is a difference in thinking between those who have a comfortable income and the very wealthy, perhaps money corruption creeps up on a person's psyche as it gathers.  Also there has been a dividing line between new and old money, the latter frowning upon the late comers and their flaunting of the wealth, or so it says in books and movies, I have no experience there, but it would make sense that such a divide exists.
It does seem to me that the super wealthy crave power over the rest of us as much as more money flowing in, apparently feeling it is their privilege and uh duty to oversee the peasants.  A local saying says, great wants more and I believe that to be so.  Did that mindset happen all of the sudden, or did it creep in, I ask myself.  It cannot be denied that money power runs this world, the politicians are the tools of big money to the point of democracy becoming a sour joke.  A clear example of money corrupting, don't ya think?
Until very recently I have always had to watch every penny I spent and I sometimes struggled to make ends meet until I, as you mentioned adjusted my lifestyle to my income.  A few months ago I received an inheritance, nothing mind blowing, but enough so that my wife and I were able to purchase a house without needing a loan.  No sooner had this new reality arrived than I began feeling pity for the folks struggling with loans and working long hours to stay afloat.  I felt blessed and uhm a bit detached from them and uhm what was that, conceit creeping in?  Not really, for I try and check myself always through brutal introspection, with a habit of being a little over critical of myself as a rule, yet I acknowledged the danger.  That and the fact that my wife knows real searing poverty, having grown up in a mountain village in The Philippines and she always keeps me grounded, bless her.
Why should I live comfortably now while my neighbor struggles I ask myself, did I earn that?  Not really, my mother had some money is all.  I never used to think too much about money, but now I feel I have to make plans, take care that the small bunch we have lasts to assist our son in his education and so on.  It's a new kind of burden, not wanting it to waste away.  Is that what the wealthy feel, this worry that it might be gone one day?  Does that also help maintain a divide?   Oh, the horror, haha, sometimes I think it would be best to splurge what's left away, gift it to Derby County or something.

As long as there were no big surprises for DC after admin, presumably any Bielik payments etc were known about, surely these numbers are to be expected by the company and prob more importantly the EFL. Presumably they have seen them before publication and are happy in accordance with what they expected coming out of admin and our business plan or cant imagine we would have been able to sign someone on a fee yesterday.

cements my total admiration for DC and his family as they have gone from running a successful development company on a low key basis and enjoying being normal rams fans (if actually we can ever be normal) to taking all of this 💩on to deal with. Can you imagine the stuff he's had to deal with?  And after all that you have fans moaning about us not signing people, going over snd over the words the poor bloke said on the budget for this year forensically, and how terrible last January's window was, etc.
the accounts wont tell half the story but to me there are no words to describe what David Clowes and his family did for all of us, the club and the City. I also dont think we know just how close we were to being gone. Also in strange way grateful to Kirchner as if DC had not already been involved with knowledge of what was going on when just buying the stadium, would he have been in a position to act so quickly to save us?

    Respect always

This just cements DC’s hero status for me.
Of course the first few months out of admin  won’t be representative of the rest of his tenure and as @angieramsays there may be Bielek money etc in that loss.
However when you see someone running a successful, mid-size, profitable property company lurching into a business like football where it’s so difficult to turn a profit…….all for the sake of us…..you have to doff your cap.

I hear this is all historic and complicated, however we're talking about charges over a period of 14 seasons dating back to 2009, 15 years it's taken.
    7 Premier League titles
    3 FA Cups
    6 League Cups
    1 Champions League
All won during those periods, circling back to our own situation where we had Boro and Wycombe wanting to sue us for 'cheating' and costing them positions in the table, successfully getting paid off to go away and the EFL retrospectively changing the rules to throw the book at us.
All those clubs beaten twice by City going down by the 6 points.
All those clubs missing out on European football, titles, trophies.
It's just insane to me that a club with 115 charges is still carrying on regardless 15 years after their first unpunished offence, you can bet your house that they won't face any retrospective punishment and pay a fine of a few million which will pay for a lavish PL bosses Xmas party.
Forest have been naive to think they can slide a transfer from one accounting period to another, yet in the grand scheme of things, seems a minor infraction whilst other state run clubs stick two fingers up and laugh from afar.

Can anyone explain why Manchester City are avoiding answering their 115 charges before the rule changes in August, whilst Forest and Everton must answer them now?
115 charges which has dragged on for how long?
I want to sit here and take the piss out of Forest as nature intended, however it's just wrong how Manchester City are continuing and picking up silverware whilst others are having the book thrown at them.

As humans, we struggle with imagining how we'll feel about events in the medium to-distant future.  We tend to believe we'll be better equipped at some random future date than we are now, hence why so many people are poor at planning for retirement.
We also struggle with large concepts and abstract facts because they're not easy to represent in our minds.
Then you add in short-term self-interest, and it's no wonder so little has been done for so long. It's entirely predictable and understandable.

Private Eye have hammered this disgusting behaviour from the beginning. All politicians have known about this for 20 years, Labour, Tory, Lib Dem, yet its been allowed to happen to protect a corporation and the people who awarded that corporation the contract.
Journalists of all our major news outlets have also known about it but decided not to report it or weren't allowed to.

Paula Vennells needs prison time. I'm not sure what the stripping of her CBE achieves, even though I agree it should happen. Sub-postmasters were sent to jail and it should now be her turn. This was a conspiracy and all involved in the cover-up need custodial sentences. That said, I doubt any of the major players will ever see the inside of a courtroom, let alone prison, indeed on stepping down from her role as head of the PO, she was rewarded  for her services with a £400,000.00 golden handshake. If that does not absolutely scream contempt, I don't know what does but the one hand washes the other, I'm afraid. Our government, justice system and public services are overrun with corruption and greed and it's high time heads rolled.

Shipley is great, real industrial heritage. Bradford, like many northern industrial cities, is a mixed bag, some regeneration, lots of run-down areas, very multicultural and some extreme poverty. Great people though, in my experience.
Let's face it, the football fans are a loyal lot if you look at the attendances they get on a regular basis.
