Spot on Roy. You quite simply will never find Warney shoe horning players into his preferred formation.

It is in a way, but I don't think we're going there with nothing but hope.
I do genuinely think the way we're playing now stands us in better stead to with on Friday than if it had been a match in the first 10 games. It's the home games that are now more of a concern!
(You'd think teams got 4 points for winning away and only 3 at home such is the extra importance placed on away matches by some fans. Got to please the 'hardcore', 'loyal' fans though, not those schmucks who only go to home matches.)
It probably depends on whether we can find a solution to the defence being horribly exposed though (I thought we were fine in the second half vs Accrington so there's something to work with), either that or them missing a load of chances!

They've recently lost to Plymouth, and their most recent league game was a defeat against Lincoln (at home no less!). They've also just lost in the cup to Cambridge United.
Clearly they're getting worse, Kieran McKenna can't be long for the job!
    Warneball should piss it.
...but without being facetious. We should stand a chance, if Lincoln can do at Portman Road to them what they did to us at Sincil bank we should be able to get something out of them too, now that we're playing a style closer to Lincoln than to Ipswich.

There's no protection for the defence from the middle of the pitch or out wide, we've conceded 4 penalties in 2 league games, been terrorised by Port Vale at home, should have had a defender (Davies) sent off against Accrington which would have massively changed the complexion of the match, had to sub one off because of a risk of a second yellow, but yeah, sure, the midfield balance is brilliant now!

The vast majority of the forum could have told him, for free, that certain players on our books won't suit certain roles in his preferred system.
Rather than wasting a game proving to everyone what should already have been quite obvious, he should have just joined up and done a poll! ??

Oh absolutely, I agree about those sort of comments, but I guess I'm just looking at them as purely reactionary rather than their proper assessment.
TBH I think we're coming at the same issue from different angles, OTT reactions either way.  (That's why I said 'equally' in response to your original post)
I know myself that nothing I've said has been intended to lack balance or worse be against Warne, but sometimes it feels like I'm being accused of being  / grouped in with the above so probably take it too personally?
I do still think there are certain posters though who are putting up a bit of a front and will present everything Warne does in unwarranted glowing terms, even making out any negatives as positives (spin spin spin)- the hypocrisy of 'you can't judge after 6 games' being applied to one manager by people happy to written off another after 10, and seem to have decided that Warne is brilliant based mainly on us getting 2 away wins. It's just weird IMO, but I could see it happening a mile off.
I've had some Old J spiced rum since my earlier posts though so, um, yeah.

How do you point toward a collective attitude and tone? Just read the room.
It's not the individual posts people are making, although if it was your 'hangdog posts and raging impatience' line would be pertinent as it comes across as an attempt to dismiss the thoughts of anyone who've having doubts based on what they've seen so far.
My previous post about the focus on Man City covered some of this - it takes away the focus from our own performance, but people aren't generally bothered so much by the fact we lost to Man City's U21s, more so our own performance in doing so.
As you said yourself "I doubt there's anyone who doesn't think there's allot of rebuilding work still to do" - in which case people voicing their concerns clearly aren't showing raging incompetence, just concern.

I agree this is ridiculously ironic and was used as a huge stick to beat LR.
I suspect it's more to do with the fact that we've been decent at home and stinky away for so long, people take the home form as a given. If (when?) it gets worse, you can count on the same fans to be complaining bitterly about that instead!
I thought after the Port Vale game how much Warne-ball was suited to away games and how it may be problematic at home. Still very early days so hopefully he can work out the formula to pick up points away and ensure we don't gift the impetus to the opposition at Pride Park.
I don't mind if we continue the away renaissance in Friday mind...
Up the Rams, long live the Messiah etc.

Comments like "I've never been more embarrassed to be a Derby supporter" and "we can't win consecutive games" are what i had in mind, just as 2 examples. Allot of the stuff goes much further than merely 'raising concerns', or at least come across to me that way. The counterpoint views have mainly been posters pointing out that we weren't playing against any ordinary U21 side and our own selection had an element of 'training game' approach which produced a poor performance that many felt others were reading too much into.
I expect negative comments after any defeat but these, coming after a good performance on Saturday seemed well OTT to me.

He did, but from memory only really on the back of some poor form when Cocu started to drop his beliefs and yield to popular opinion. The start of the end for him, really.
I think Davies' lack of passing ability has always been overstated anyway. People clinging onto the memory of Keogh and pretending you need to maraud up the pitch and be involved 50-60 yards away from your goal to be a CB in a good footballing side. HisHe was fine last season, and we played some good stuff.
Talking of Keogh, i didn't realise he was at Ipswich. Hopefully he plays on Friday (probably unlikely), it'd be fun to see him trying to keep up with Osula!

Nah, it was Cocu's first season. Looked like he was possibly even 4th choice in pre-season, yet back in the starting lineup (and captain) by game number 9, and stayed there (playing the full 90 for 19 consecutive games).

Yes yes, nothing game, nothing competition, means nothing, nothing to read into it. Doesn't matter. Move on.
That is actually how I feel on the surface, but it is another shockingly poor performance where we've looked extremely basic tactically, no obvious plan to counter the opposition's threats, just the "let them play their game, we'll play ours and let's see what happens!" approach again.
It makes you wonder if that's all we've got, but a few good wins in a league where often that's all you need and we won't really be thinking about it too much.
